Shark Bait

Harry could only watch in horror as he sees a man having his prosthetic leg being turned into a chewing toy by this little Gible. A quick look on the PokéGear’s PokéDex later, he might have found out why poor Hiccup is in trouble. Isn’t it common in many dragon stories that dragons like shiny stuff that they have the urge to collect them?

Needless to say, Harry soon rushes to help out Hiccup with Lily and Molly tagging to tell the Gible that the leg is not a toy.

“Oh hey. Is everything alright over here?l”

"Aaagh."

Hiccup just rolls over and lays there on his back, splayed out, and staring at the sky. As he hears someone's concerned voice though he shoots up a hand, giving a thumbs up.

He's good! Just... missing his leg at the moment.

Which is currently in the jaws of a Gible who's settled down with it several feet away, gnawing on it. What do you mean this isn't a toy? He thinks its a great toy!

Oh thank Merlin that he is alright despite having his leg now being chewed up by a Gible. Now the question is about how to convince the Gible to drop the leg as Molly and Lily try (and fail) to tell him that prosthetic legs are NOT toys.

Quick Harry, what is the shiniest thing that he can use to distract that Gible? He could have brought along the silver box that he got from the Halloween party from last year but it is at Olivine City right now. Then he tries to use some shiny marbles that he had picked up at a store in Violet City. Maybe that could keep him pre-occupied.

He whistles at the creature, waving the pouch of marbles at his sight.

“Hey little guy! Would you like to see what is inside this pouch? You want it? You want it?”

The whistling gets the Gible’s attention and it looks up. Blinking curiously as Harry shakes a bag. It seems to work though as he drops the leg and starts waddling over to Harry with Hiccup watching from his spot on the ground.

Whatcha got there dude? The Gible trying to jump at the bag that Harry’s holding.

Terrific, the Gible has been distracted by his bag shaking and he is about to unleash the shiny marbles at any moment now. Harry hopes that the marbles will help Hiccup out in getting his leg back. Lily and Molly could only watch in concern as they witness their Trainer slowly opening the bag.

With the bag opened, he then shows the Gible all the shiny marbles inside it. He was going to use it for playing and trying to use it to make friends with, but today he decides that the Gible probably wants them more than him.

“Hey look, just look at the shiny marbles. They look beautiful and are shiny in nature. Would you like to have them instead?”

Pushing himself into sitting up, Hiccup looks on with a little grin. The Gible jumping up and down excitedly like a little dog. Frothing at the mouth in its excitement to have the marbles. Yes! Yes he wants them! Come on! He wants them so bad!

Hiccup even laughs a little before looking and seeing that his leg is unattended. Don't mind him! He's just going to... scoot that direction.

The Gible is wanting those marbles so badly right now that as soon as Harry places them and the bag on the ground, he happily dives in to play with them. Not as super shiny as gems, but still shiny and very pretty.

Molly and Lily let out a collective sigh of relief as they witness the Gible’s newfound attraction to the marbles. Thank Merlin for that hidden foresight Harry didn’t expect to pull out at the last second but he is glad that it did come in handy early on. Oh well, he can always get some new marbles of his own after this.
