[Daniel hadn't been here long himself, honestly. Long enough to orient some and to start befriending the weird, two-headed bird he'd received, but that was about it. He's poking around on his PokeGear when-

SMACK

-the Pokeball nailed him right in the temple. The world kinda tilted as he went down, landing in a half-heap with a groan. Still awake, but everything is a little spinny, as he sits up and cradles his head in one hand. His Doduo stands overhead, one beak birdly nibbling at his shoulder in a way of checking if he was okay. After a moment the other head echoed the motion on the other shoulder.]

Holy hell... What hit me??

[Rapunzel blinks in surprise, and for a stunned moment she can only watch the young man fall. Maybe she's too good at handling herself in these situations...? But she's kept herself safe, that's what matters. Meanwhile, Smeargle seems ready to square off with Doduo, but backs off when Rapunzel nears the other trainer.]

That was me. See, I'm- I'm not going to give in easily.

[She is trying so hard to sound brave and steady.]

[He looked up with a blink at the voice, and after a moment his vision focused enough to let him actually see who was speaking. It was a woman, probably around his own age? And- whoa. That was a lot of hair.

He- not unkindly -waved his Doduo back and got to his feet, albeit a little unsteadily still.]

I'm... not trying to fight you?

[Rapunzel blinks in surprise, hesitating a moment.]

You're not? You're... Not.

[Well, then, now she feels awful- and that clearly hits in a bit of a rush as she starts speaking urgently.]

I'm so sorry! Are you alright? Do you need me to get someone?
