"Ohohohoho, jackpot! Hey buddy, you can come out now. Check out what I scored us!"

[ Tomi, utterly beside himself with joy, waits for his scaly companion to turn fully visible. He wasn't entirely sure what to make of the Sobble he was so randomly entrusted with. Hell, he wasn't so sure what to make of this whole "flung into the Pokemon world" situation in general; he had always been a big gamer, but Sega was always more his speed. This was entirely new territory for the plucky cabbie ]

"Look pal, I get that you're a bit skittish around new people (and that makes two of us), but you can trust me to do right by ya, okay? 'Sides, check out what some sucker musta dropped off; we could have a proper cook-out - Hawaiian style!"

[ The Sobble's timidity faded exponentially, as it laid its big watery eyes on the veritable feast its trainer just so happened to stumble across. Assorted berries, Slowpoke jerky, pokeblocks,... The two of them were eating good tonight. ]

"Bon appetit, amigo. Here's hopin' I come up with something to call you once I get a full belly and some shuteye."

[But before Tomi could so much as nibble on the rawst berry he so covetously eyed, he heard a violent rustling in the distance, followed by assured growling]

"H-hey, cool it! I have a walking, talking pressurized water gun, and I'm not afraid to used it!"
[ Tomi was nearly pissing himself on the inside, but he knew that so long as he fooled himself, he could fool anyone - or thing, that might try to harm him, his companion, and their bounty - right ? ]

Wakana Shiki ( Love Live! Superstar!! ) Action ; Azalea Town

[ A day spent exploring the forest was NOT a day wasted. Not to Shiki! She was fussing about on a picnic blanket at the edge of town, accompanied by a few seemingly snoozing Bug-types scattered in the grass. Though a particular Spinarak was firmly latched to her shoulder as she scribbled in her notebook. ]

My, my, we managed a lot today... [ The girl mused, reaching to give the spider-like critter a sweet little rub on the abdomen as if it would purr when she did so. Shiki peeked over her book all of a sudden, spotting a little flutter of color in her periphery. Of course she had been on the hunt for a few particular specimens she needed for her collection and any flash of blue excited her!

Alas... No Bug to be found but she rose to her feet nonetheless, following a tickling feeling in her brain. Walking near-aimlessly toward a Trainer who was wandering close enough to end up in her orbit. ]

Pardon!! Beg pardon...! [ Her voice piped up about as much as it was going to. Her notebook held out in front of her, there was a drawing of a Heracross done in fabulous detail and featuring text scribbled around it reading: Must find!~!! BIG GET!!! ]

Have you seen any of these? I simply must find one... [ Now, while she was trying to act perfectly normal, maybe her company wouldn't find her forwardness and act of holding out a book near to their face to be as charming. Or would they! ]

[Noriaki Kakyoin stops to take a look. It's quite a good drawing. He idly wonders if the girl ever thought of studying art. He also thinks nothing of the book being so close to his face - surely this is how one should act with one's art if it's any good or urgent and as long as it won't kill anybody.]

I'm afraid I haven't seen one in person, yet.

[ If someone doesn't mind personal space violations, they're going to be in good company with her. Her expression remained fixed and determined even in spite of the resulting answer being a big negative on the Huge Cute Beetle front. Darn. ]

Ahhhhhh... Then it looks like I will need to backtrack. [ The spider on her shoulder wiggled its little legs, mimicking the stretching gesture Shiki was suddenly doing with her arms. Stretching them over her head with a thoughtful hum. ] Finding a Heracross is of high priority to me. Johto's biome is so diverse and I am determined to study all of the insect-like creatures.

[ She cocked her head. ]

Are you prepared to go bug-hunting? [ just telling the stranger he's gonna come with you, huh? ]

[Galliard is just minding his own business, keeping to himself, when he's suddenly accosted and has a notebook shoved in his face. It makes him jump, but after his initial startle, he calms down and takes a look at what she's drawn.]

Sorry, haven't seen anything like that.

[Looks like a giant bug of some kind.]

Have you looked on your device? It might tell you where they're more likely to be.

[ Shiki held up a single finger. It looked like taking a peek at the Device already crossed her mind. ]

Naturally I thought of that before approaching others for personal accounts. There is always the slight chance that the device is incorrect in its census.

[ She hesitated for a single beat, her eyes ticking in another direction. ]

A-And maybe that means that I was too hasty in my travels at the idea of a bug-filled forest and missed their habitat entirely.

"Hmm? I think so? I think they're pretty big treehuggers. You'd probably snag one if you stocked up on, I dunno, honey or something sweet like that...
[Tomi sizes up the young woman... Chances are, she isn't the type to pull good old fashioned highway robbery, like what he saw in Ilex, but then again, neither did Chi-chan... She looked about the same age, too]
"Ooh, that reminds me! Speaking of trees, my buddy and I were out in the woods, and stumbled across a whole treasure trove of goodies: Snacks; pokeballs, the whole nine-yards... [ he deftly leaves out the fact that he helped himself to a bit of the spoils - nobody needs to know the details of it all ] you have any idea what might've caused something like that? Who knows, maybe it'd lead you to one of those beetle guys ya seem so enthused about?"

[ The girl cocked her head and raised an eyebrow. Treasure trove? ]

Oh my, that sounds exciting... Did someone leave their camp behind? It seems odd that they would leave so much behind.

Unless they were eaten by one of these creatures. [ no, shiki, that... probably didn't happen but good effort?? ]

Perhaps we should investigate!

1. [Action. Not far from Pallet Town]

[Noriaki Kakyoin, still not quite certain what he's doing here, is exploring some forest near Pallet Town. Not that there's anything exceptional about the forest, but surely it's still better than doing nothing.

Restless, Noriaki remembers his mother and father calling him that and he sighs a little. And wonders why his newly found friends never called him that. Well, almost never.
Perhaps because Mr Joestar's group can be even more restless than me at times, Kakyoin thinks.
He smiles a little and pats his Pokemon gently.]
"It's funny," [he mutters, not that his Morelull can understand it. Probably can't, he thinks so far. Unlike another companion.]

Good morning. My name is Noriaki Kakyoin. New arrival, as of yesterday. This is the first time I've had a so-called Pokemon in my care. Since my arrival yesterday, I've read all I could on the subject. However, with an understanding that my pokemon's life is now my responsibility, I simply cannot afford to allow myself any ignorance or gaps in knowledge. Therefore, I wish to learn slightly more. If anybody's willing to indulge me with some answers, well.


[Hairflick. Even though he's trying not to.]

Well, then. All I will say, as a lost and helpless stranger in a strange land, is this: whoever you are, with almost no exceptions, you'll have my gratitude. Which might not mean much, so perhaps something else can be negotiated, too, as a recompensation for any help. Be assured, any kind stranger - straight after I found myself in an unexpectedly strange place, I've got no desire to ask anybody to be a good samaritan. I fancy myself a tad more realistic than that.

[Tomi places his hands on the back of his head in a halfhearted attempt to look cool and collected, but as he goes to lean back, his at-that-point invisible Sobble manifests on his shoulders, causing his to break his practised]
Jeez! Buddy! Gotta... stop doin that. Nah, I ain't mad at ya, ya just scared the Bejeezus outta me...
[Pretending as if nothing ever happened, Tomi turns to face his camera]
Anyway, you ever had one'a those virtual pets? They were all the rage when I was your age. Anyway, as I was saying... These guys're like, the final form of virtual pets! They're not just animals, they're a pet, companion and multitool all in one! Ain't that cool? Obviously, I'm not sayin' treat em like emotionless robots or what have ya, but you've seen the Smeargle Street Artists? The Oranguru Cafes? The Corviknight Taxis? [That particular reference gets a grin out of Tomi]. There's like, a symbiotic relationship these guys' got goin' on with us. Make sense?

Kanto - Viridian City Library

[ If you happen to be in the library today, you may notice someone is reading a lot of books.

No, let's try that again. You will notice someone is reading a gigantic mountain of books.

Why? Because that table in the middle that is covered in several feet of books is pretty much impossible to ignore. They're stacked so high, it may be difficult to see the preteen hunched over and actually reading them. It'd be easy to worry about them falling over and crushing her, but she certainly doesn't seem to think it's a possibility. Or at least not one worth caring about.

But if somehow you still managed to bypass all of that, you're still going to forcibly notice, because that book you were trying to read? It suddenly glows and floats out of your hand - thanks to the psychic Pokemon, Espurr, who is standing at the table and using its powers to carry books over to its mistress, regardless if someone was using it or not.

If you are rightly annoyed by this behavior and try to confront the girl, you're just getting the "hold on a minute" finger reply, without her even looking up. ]

Johto - Ecruteak City

[ It's important to learn about culture as well as history, so Violet has signed up for some lessons from the Kimono Dance Theater! Still, it's hard to find something she hasn't already mastered from the Junior Woodchucks, but eventually, there is something she apparently sucks at. ]

Ah. Help. If only there was someone to save me.

[ Acting.

She didn't really want to play the damsel in distress, but the usual actress is running late, and they need to practice, so here she is, on stage... speaking in her usual monotone voice without any hint of emotion.

You, her poor acting partner? Better step it up. Before the teacher/director tears out their hair in frustration. ]

Please. Don't hurt me. I'm so scared. Boo-hoo.

Sevii Islands - Two Island

[ Now, Violet can emote. But a lot of the time, it's a matter of choosing. Like choosing to make her sister back home proud by using the slang and trash talk that was taught to her.

It's a Berry Catching competition, and Violet is cheering on her Pokemon... but also dissing the others. Loudly. A lot. ]

YOU CALL THAT A CATCH? MY ELDERLY GRANDMOTHER CAN CATCH THAT BETTER WITH HER EYES CLOSED! YOU'VE GOT NOTHING, YOU CLOD!

[ She pauses, making a connection the Pokemon she's yelling at and You - since You happen to be trainer of that Pokemon. No hard feelings? ]

For the record, I mean no ill will, and merely using the psyc-technique of "slamming" in other to demotivate my Pokemon's opponents. But please inform me if my "jam" is too wounding, as I'm still learning which is too "sick" to say.

[ With that, she resumes her razzing. ]

[ Um, okay, having her Pokemon steal Adaine's book and then not acknowledging her when she tried to speak to you to get it back? Not only is that incredibly rude, but it's also terribly frustrating. Frustrating enough that when Adaine's Purrloin gives her a look which indicates the desire to get revenge, Adaine decides... Sure, why not give in to her pettiest urges?

In a hushed voice, appropriate for the library environment, Adaine addresses her Purrloin. ]

Go for it, Aelwyn. Give her a taste of her own medicine.

[ Which is how there will come to be a small purple cat Pokemon, playing up the cuteness factor by rubbing against Violet's legs and purring, with the intent to trick her into letting the Purrloin steal Adaine's book back. ]

[ Adaine is severely underestimating the nerd factor here.

Page flip. No response. No glancing down, not even reaching down to scritch those ears. She's silently sticking to what she's reading and not allowing even the most adorbs to distract her.

Espurr continues to give its mistress more books, though it does s-l-o-w-l-y turn towards Purrlion with its o_o face unchanging. ]

[Carly's fortunately not the one being razzed, partly because this is peak ice cream sales time and she's between grunts part time employees. So she's brought the nice little ice cream cart from when her Gym has events and set up shop to watch.

[There may not be a lot of hope for salvaging the scene, since Sisu hadn't come to in intending to take the class at all. She'd heard it was going on and - loving the idea of people be able to go in and learning something new just 'cause they wanted to - immediately spent half the money she had on Soda Pop at the pokemart to offer as gifts to everyone participating. But those gifts had lead to a misunderstanding.

...It's not like she's keeping strict track, but Sisu's pretty sure her success rate for gift-giving as a happy surprise has been disappointingly low here. Maybe she's doing something wrong--?

Any thought towards that is long-gone by now, though. She's supposed to be playing a warrior thief in this scene, which had sounded great at first, but the part isn't written anything like how Tong or Noi would act! This is a mean and dishonest character; Sisu is struggling to get into the role to the point where it takes her a while to register the absence of emotion in Violet's performance. When she does, she drops any level of "in-character" she had going on.]

Hey, uh, you okay? Am I missing something, or... Ohhh! [She leans down, hands on her knees, and lowers her voice to a whisper.] I gotcha, this script isn't really a hit with me, either. You wanna switch roles? Or, oh-oh-oh! We can do a little improv thing! That could be fun! Whaddaya think, huh?

Violet just shrugs - as best she can, given how she's tied to a chair. But it might surprise Sisu to hear that Violet's voice still retains the emotionless tone even as she breaks character. ]

I'm afraid there's no easy problem to this situation. Acting is not my strength. I've only truly successfully done it once as a prank and it last for a handful of seconds. But this is an entirely different animal, and one I might not be able to tame.

... Also, these knots are entirely insufficient for anyone trying to keep someone hostage. I can get out of this in ten seconds, if I so chose.

[Gobo had been at the library to study some things about Pokemon, wanting to know a bit more about some of his newest team members, including the little Fuecoco walking around with him. He had pulled down a book and was paging through it when all of a sudden it started to glow, moving away.]

Eh??

[He followed the track over, saw the Espurr, then the MOUNTAIN.] Whoa.

[Okay, but he wanted that book. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.]

Ah, excuse me? I was kinda reading that...

[ No response from Violet. If she even knows he's there, she's not acknowledging it.

Espurr definitely knows he's there, though, given his o_o stare is now aimed right at him.

There, there, you big blubbering baby, [Alice grumbles, wiping away the tears that hadn't stopped flowing from Ace since he was rushed out the door by "Mom." She doesn't understand the big deal, but she'd never even met Dr. Eva so she had no right to judge.

That wasn't going to stop Alice from judging anyways, though. She heaves a great sigh, pauses, then sighs again, this time with scientific intent. Alice's brow furrows and she places two fingers to her jugular vein, checking her pulse.]

Aren't you just a little cutie? [The Bidoof Ace is kneeling in front of poses bashfully, which provokes another "d'awwww."] Yes you are! [Grinning, Ace pats the Bidoof on the head.

Ace is also heedless of his Snorunt, pulling desperately on his orange hoodie to try and get his attention. Or the Misdreavous creeping up behind him, eyes shining mischievously.

Perhaps he needs a hand.]
