She was fussing about on a picnic blanket at the edge of town, accompanied by a few seemingly snoozing Bug-types scattered in the grass. Though a particular Spinarak was firmly latched to her shoulder as she scribbled in her notebook. ]

My, my, we managed a lot today... [ The girl mused, reaching to give the spider-like critter a sweet little rub on the abdomen as if it would purr when she did so. Shiki peeked over her book all of a sudden, spotting a little flutter of color in her periphery. Of course she had been on the hunt for a few particular specimens she needed for her collection and any flash of blue excited her!

Alas... No Bug to be found but she rose to her feet nonetheless, following a tickling feeling in her brain. Walking near-aimlessly toward a Trainer who was wandering close enough to end up in her orbit. ]

Pardon!! Beg pardon...! [ Her voice piped up about as much as it was going to. Her notebook held out in front of her, there was a drawing of a Heracross done in fabulous detail and featuring text scribbled around it reading: Must find!~!! BIG GET!!! ]

Have you seen any of these? I simply must find one... [ Now, while she was trying to act perfectly normal, maybe her company wouldn't find her forwardness and act of holding out a book near to their face to be as charming. Or would they! ]

[Noriaki Kakyoin stops to take a look. It's quite a good drawing. He idly wonders if the girl ever thought of studying art. He also thinks nothing of the book being so close to his face - surely this is how one should act with one's art if it's any good or urgent and as long as it won't kill anybody.]

I'm afraid I haven't seen one in person, yet.

[ If someone doesn't mind personal space violations, they're going to be in good company with her. Her expression remained fixed and determined even in spite of the resulting answer being a big negative on the Huge Cute Beetle front. Darn. ]

Ahhhhhh... Then it looks like I will need to backtrack. [ The spider on her shoulder wiggled its little legs, mimicking the stretching gesture Shiki was suddenly doing with her arms. Stretching them over her head with a thoughtful hum. ] Finding a Heracross is of high priority to me. Johto's biome is so diverse and I am determined to study all of the insect-like creatures.

[ She cocked her head. ]

Are you prepared to go bug-hunting? [ just telling the stranger he's gonna come with you, huh? ]

[Oh, Kakyoin's very particular about when he minds it when he doesn't mind it. If she touches him without a particular reason when they don't even know each other, for example, he'd look at her as if she's crazy. But if she for no reason is face to face with almsot no distance because that's just how she fancies speaking - if that happened, Kakyoin wouldn't even blink. Or if she was standing way too very close to him and decided to only communicate in grumbles, he wouldn't even blink at that, either.]

Backtrack, huh? I wonder-

[He wonders if he can summon his Stand, his lifelong companion here, or if this place truly only allows Pokemons as companions. If so, he'll just have to get used to it.]

[Bug-hunting?]

Beetles, stoneflies, earwigs? I'm not really a fan of beetles anymore - too murderous on planes - but I wouldn't mind finding a thrips or a dragonfly, for example.

[ Shiki leaned back onto her heels, rocking a touch as she looked into her book. Hum~ ]

It is my mission to have one of every Bug-type or adjacent specimen in my possession. This beetle is vital. It looks like my favorite animal back home, you see. I suppose it holds sentimental value...!

Though before I do anything, I must ask about the previous statement regarding beetles and planes. One cannot say that and not elaborate.

I see. So, we're talking of Pokebugs, not real bugs? That explains more.

Would you believe me if I told you that I fought a magic evil stag beetle - not a real or Pokemon beetle, a magic beetle - and its owner - on a plane? For my new companions, as I correctly believed my method of fighting would be better at this than theirs.

[Kakyoin doesn't bother to mention 'Stands' for now as that would surely lead to 'a what?' conversation, he's quite certain. Surely she only wielded Pokemons and never a Stand.]

What's the newest piece from Toshinobu Kubota? Not curious, just asking for one of best friends.

[in a few days, Kakyoin will never mention a word of such things to strangers. For now, he's just still slightly shaken by some, hmm, bizarre adventures at the finish line of his life. No biggie. He doesn't need a doctor or anything.]

[ The spider on her back clapped his little legs at the second performance. Shiki didn't smile, but her expression softened significantly. She always liked when people sang. Even if their voices weren't perfect. ]

I am pleased to be an addition to your catalogue of friends. Maybe if we all meet someday, we will get along and sing together... [ Ah, so lovely! ]

Do not find this to be foolish, but I plan to teach all of my Pokemon partners to dance to stay fit. If they have the legs to do so... Perhaps I should work on accessibility aides for the legless of my friends.

[ Shiki held up a single finger. It looked like taking a peek at the Device already crossed her mind. ]

Naturally I thought of that before approaching others for personal accounts. There is always the slight chance that the device is incorrect in its census.

A-And maybe that means that I was too hasty in my travels at the idea of a bug-filled forest and missed their habitat entirely.

[All right, she's already figured some of this out, then. Galliard offers a faint, barely-there smile when she mentions the bug-filled forest and nods. Yeah, that happens to the best of them sometimes.]

I get it. You see somewhere with really cool Pokemon and then you run towards it and miss all the other ones along the way.

[He fishes a Pokeball out of his pocket and tosses it to the ground. A flash of light, and then there's a Cutiefly bobbing around between them.]

She's a Cutiefly. Half bug, half fairy type.

Gretel! What a pretty name... [ And then said Cutiefly appeared, prompting her to turn to a new page in her notebook and start scribbling. ]

She is darling! Er--... I realize I did not even ask your name before interviewing you on this specimen. Call me Shiki.

My friend Pieck came up with it.

[Gretel notices Shiki's attention immediately, and flutters over to land on the top of her notebook. Once she's there, it's time to strike a pose. Yes, yes, admire her! Sketch her in all her glory!]

You hear that, Gretel? You're darling. [Oh, she knows, red human man. She knows.] Don't worry about it. I'm Galliard. Nice to meet you, Shiki.

[ The girl cocked her head and raised an eyebrow. Treasure trove? ]

Oh my, that sounds exciting... Did someone leave their camp behind? It seems odd that they would leave so much behind.

Unless they were eaten by one of these creatures. [ no, shiki, that... probably didn't happen but good effort?? ]

Perhaps we should investigate!

"Alright! I've been around these woods a fair bit already, so I'll give ya the round trip tour." [Several years of taxi-driving along the mean streets of Waikiki has given Tomi a sense of direction that could rival even the most resolute of Corviknight riders... Or, so he'd like to believe]

[Before Tomi's able to complete the rest of the statement, a Heracross rockets through the air, and slams into him, hard.]
