[It's almost too good to be true. It's not like Korra hasn't thought about it, one day just flipping on the network and seeing Asami...but it actually happening? She scrambles to flip the reply button, not caring that she's a mess from training, her furret draped over her shoulders. She's all grins as she presses the button.]
Found me.
no subject
Korra!
[She nearly stands up, as if Korra had appeared right in front of her, but she wills herself to remain seated. Her fingers anxiously fidgeting with the pokegear, trying to put what she'd rather be a hug into words.]
I'm so... glad you're here. [That's putting it lightly.] Where are you? Are you in New Bark Town?
no subject
[It feels like it's been forever, even if it's only been a year. They've been apart longer. But...it's different, now.]
Uh...not exactly, I'm out in Mahogany. But I can get to New Bark really quick.
no subject
[Hold on while Asami tries to find the map on her gear. If Korra can get here fast it must be nearby, maybe Asami can...
Oh. Mahogany is definitely not nearby. The confusion is clear on her face, but she decides to wait until Korra gets here before she asks any questions. How did Korra get so far away so fast?]
Okay, I'll be waiting near route twenty-nine.
[She bites back the urge to ask Korra to hurry.]
no subject
[Because Asami clearly doesn't remember her previous stay here. But Korra knew that was a possibility, she's been here long enough to know how all this works.]
[She's not about to end the call while she makes her way to the warp pad at the Center. She's still not entirely sure this isn't all some waking dream or weird thing that happens sometimes. There's this fear that if she hangs up, that's it.]
I know this is going to sound really weird, but I've actually been here a long time. Uh, what's the last thing you remember before waking up here?
no subject
The last thing I remember? We had just stepped into the portal to the Spirit World.
[Korra's hands in hers, the glow of the portal illuminating everything- illuminating her- Asami's not going to forget that anytime soon.
There's a small stab of panic; what did Korra remember?]
That's... what you remember too, right?
no subject
But, the thing about that is...uh...I woke up here over a year ago?
no subject
[Dozens of questions buzz in her head, but she decides to go with the one that's straight to the point:]
It's this place, isn't it?
[She's never been the Spirit World, but she's heard from Korra and the others what it can do. Who's to say there aren't other places like it?]
no subject
Yeah. This place is...I don't know. Sort of like the Spirit World, it's somewhere completely else. It's like time doesn't even pass, back home, while we're here. And...we don't remember it, when we go home. It's kind of more like old stories about the Spirit World than the actual Spirit World is.
[She's untangling her furret and whistling for Iqniq as she talks, because she wants to actually be where Asami is right now.]
no subject
Is it too much to hope that there's a giant glowing portal that'll take us back home here, too?
[She knows Korra wouldn't have stayed if she had the option to leave, but she's trying to keep the tone light. Not much she can do until Korra arrives, anyway.]
no subject
[Yeah, not helpful, but it's all Korra's got. And she isn't entirely sure of the validity of the possible magic llama.]
It's not so bad...I mean, this world. There's lots of stuff to explore, and some really great people here from completely other worlds that we'd never even know about.
And...there's a lot of things I've really wanted to show you.
no subject
If Avatar Korra likes it here, I'm sure I can make do too.
[Not having a direct way back still doesn't sit right with her, but she's with Korra. She'd be more than fine.
Her expression softens into a look of tenderness- while she'd much rather Korra be in front of her, that she could actually see her smile and her blue eyes with this odd phone was a comfort Asami solely needed.]
Well, it's no Spirit World, but at least we'll get that vacation. And we'll have all the time we need here.
no subject
The worst part's really that bending doesn't work here. Except sometimes. It's...it's complicated.
[And there's the center! Finally! Korra feels like getting from one end of town to the other has never taken so long before.]
Yeah. We will. We'll see everything. There's so much I have to tell you...
no subject
Oh, but... you're okay, right?
[Of course she's okay, but Asami can't help but worry. It would be as if she woke up one day and all of her knowledge and experience with machinery was just gone. A dedicated passion just snuffed out.]
And I can't wait to see it all. And you.
[She remembers what that woman, Elsa, said about Asami having been here before and the question gnaws at her, but she decides it can wait. If she was here with Korra- and she probably was- she trusted the other woman to tell her anything that might have happened between them.]
no subject
[It's a sport, it's not like it's dangerous. And Korra's pretty good at it. Training her Pokemon has taken the place of her own bending practice, and she's spent the year finding ways to use their abilities to mimic her own.]
Ten more minutes, I promise.
no subject
[Comparing training to pro-bending piques Asami's interest a little; maybe this whole training thing wouldn't be so bad.]
Don't worry about it, I'm not going anywhere. I'll be waiting outside of New Bark Town.
[For now she's not going to question how Korra can get here so fast. She hasn't seen much of it, but the technology of this world was obviously more advanced compared to back home.]
Video -> Action
[Korra can barely wait for the brief time it takes to warp from Mahogany to New Bark. Even those few minutes seems like too long. In a way it's...kind of a relief, that Asami's coming from that point in time.]
[The last time...they'd hardly had any time at all. It was like they just kept starting and never getting passed that, at least not on the same page. But this time...]
[Maybe they can finally have a relationship.]
[Within five or so minutes, Korra is on top of Iqniq the Arcanine, bolting to the edge of New Bark.]
no subject
Well, maybe she'd just have to make up for it.
Her vulpix suddenly turns with a hiss as something big approaches them- Asami turns in time just to see the flash of orange fur hurdling towards her.
She abruptly stands, but not because of the strange tiger-dog, but because of who was riding it.]
Korra!
[Asami's heart skips a beat at the sight of her, her face lighting up in excitement. Her vulpix, thoroughly unimpressed, skitters into some nearby shrubbery.]
no subject
[It's only a handful of steps and then she's sweeping Asami into her arms, lifting the taller woman up and holding her tightly.]
no subject
Sorry I kept you waiting so long.
no subject
[Or anybody's, really. It was just how this weird world worked. People came, people went, sometimes they came back, sometimes they remembered being here and sometimes they didn't. But it doesn't matter right now. Asami's in her arms and Korra's almost afraid to let go.]
[Inqniq bounds in a happy circle, rump wiggling and ears pricked forward, sharing his trainer's excitement.]
[After a moment of burying her face in Asami's hair, Korra finally loosens the hug and draws back a little, bright eyed and smiling wide enough to make her face ache.]
no subject
She cups Korra's face in her hands and gives her a soft, tender kiss. Korra must have gone too long without one.]
Well, now we can finally get this vacation started. [She laughs breathlessly after she pulls back. Finally she manages to look away from Korra and at the arcanine, eyebrows lifting in interest. She hadn't exactly not noticed Inqniq before, but... well, Korra.]
And who's this?
