[ This is... different, isn't it? Manami looks around New Bark town curiously and, when not looking around, turns her attention to her... Pokemon? That was what it had been called. And, well... she can't deny that if this Pokedex entry is accurate, Mareanie seems like an appropriate choice. ]

Poison tentacles... I don't know if I'm cool enough for tentacles, but I'll take you. Is it... okay to carry you?

Mare!

I'm gonna take that as a yes. Now I should probably name you...

[ And she picks up her Pokemon! But she's so distracted looking her over that she bumps right into someone! Oops. But she doesn't fall over, even though she's so small. ]

Hi. My name is Manami Okuda, I'm new here. Um... this is probably a weird first question to ask, but it's been on my mind. Is there some sort of... resource for scientific analysis on pokemon? I know we're supposed to be making them fight, but chemistry and things like that are much more my speed.

[Oh! Look at all these houses not anything like Arendelle. This little black and red striped cat that keep puffing out fire! This strange little thing in her hand that doesn't feel like metal, or is a book, and there's a screen with moving picture... This is great and so, so terrifying! But great!

Anna picks her cat up that the strange little thing called a Litten.]

I think I'll name you Stripes.

[She swivels on her heel and okay if there is someone behind her you have just now been smacked in the face or wherever with a cat and an elbow.]

O-Oh! I'm so sorry!

[The screen pops up and there's a very unimpressed Litten looking into the screen. Behind it was a pair of boots.]

Stripes. Come on! Can I have that back please?

[Stripes mewls, batting the gear around. Anna sighs and picks both the Litten and the gear up. She shows up on the screen with the cat beside her who still looks unimpressed.]

Hey guys! Anna here! Can you believe this little guy beat a bunch of Pokemon on our way to Cherrygrove? He doesn’t look like much-[angry growl]-but my little guy sure knows how to hit and hit hard.

[Now Stripes looks rather proud. Have a puff of fire to show off just how much he thinks of himself.]

Anyways, this was my status update since it’s been, you know, over a week now? I know they said it only takes three days from New Bark to Cherrygrove, but once you get into the whole training thing, you can lose track of time pretty easily. Anyone else have that problem?

[Elsa won't lie, she's been a little distressed the past few days. Anna told her she'd be coming straight to Cherrygrove, so Elsa had used the fast-travel as soon as possible, planning to meet up with Anna as soon as she got into town. But the three days it took to get to the city came and went, without a word from her sister.

So when she sees this, she can't help but let out a little sigh of relief.]

Sounds like you're fitting in quite well with this place, Anna.

[Not that she's surprised, since Anna was here before. But she's glad her sister is finding her footing again.]

Fascinating creatures, really.

[The creature in question might be the wild Machop onscreen, but it's more likely the Gastly running rings around its opponent.]

Even aside from their psychic abilities, I must say I'm intrigued by the theories that they originated from deceased humans.

[The Gastly fades in and out of the background around the Machop, giggling as it phases through objects or outright turns invisible. It's not until the Machop is thoroughly disoriented and dizzy that the Gastly actually attacks with a paralyzing lick.]

If nothing else, I do wonder how one could have literal ghosts in a world without death.

How would you say the levels of technology here compare to those from your homeworlds?

From what we know, in some cases at least it isn't just theory. But from what I understand, it's presumably possible for the people native to this world do die, or at least was. It's possible that whatever has been causing people from other worlds to appear here may also have somehow affected that, I suppose.

[Seymour seems genuinely surprised when he manages to get his Pokegear to record video. He had been trying to get it to work for the past half hour and was starting to suspect that it just wouldn't work for him.

He awkwardly stares at the screen for a few moments before he clears his throat.]

Hello? I think I'm dreaming right now. I don't know how else I could have ended up in a place this nice with something like this.

[Makes a gesture at the Pokegear.]

The problem is everything feels so real. Even my most intense dreams didn't feel like this... maybe I'm just going crazy.

[There is a pause as he mulls over this possibility. He then realizes something and points the camera to a Bellsprout, who is not doing much besides staring at Seymour.]

Also, I got this plant. I think it's some strange breed of pitcher plant except it... seems to be moving on its own.

[There is an uncertainty in his voice as he says this. He can't help but worry a little that he shouldn't be telling everyone that this plant is moving independently. But since no one he's run into seemed to be super worried about that...]

It's pretty fascinating, really! But I don't know what to make of all of this. If someone could prove it to me that I'm not losing it, that would be great.

So are Grass Pokemon plants? I thought they were super evolved plants at first but then I saw this

and now I don't know what to think. Plants are amazing, but I don't think any amount of evolving could make a plant perfectly mimic a bird in both appearance and movement.

[ Once it's good enough, or at least she sighs and lets the thing be, Max clears her throat. ]

So... Max here, I guess. I was just wondering if anyone knows where I could find... I guess it might be called a Polaroid camera in your world too? Something like that. I want to try to snap some good shots of the Pokemon out here, but digital and me don't get along quite as well. Um... thanks? If you reply. If not, that's cool too. Or you can reply just to shoot the shit, I mean that's sort of what a public network is for, right? Yeah...

[ And after a moment of indecision, she turns the camera right off. ]

I'm afraid I don't know what a 'polaroid' is, but if there are different kinds of cameras to be found here, I imagine the department stores in Goldenrod and Celadon would be a good place to start.

Action:

[Vaughn placed his hands on his knees, crouching down to look over the creature in front of him. There were a lot of... interesting things happening. For starters, the only time Vaughn saw something relatively close to green was when he put on his scarf in the morning. The sudden explosion of trees everywhere he looked (especially in the place that clearly wasn't camp) was all a bit... much.]

[From far away, the thing almost looked normal. Sure, Vaughn hadn't actually seen a domesticated animal since college (the occasional weary and wounded skag didn't count), but he was pretty sure he knew what a dog was supposed to look like. It definitely wasn't supposed to have rocks on its neck, at the very least.]

[And then there was the annoying background music, which sounded a little like a game that he--]

[His thoughts were chased away as the dog bounded to his side, shoving his snout against Vaughn's nose. He let out a laugh and picked the creature up.]

You're uh... You're awfully friendly, aren't you? You got some kind of owner? An alpha? [Vaughn glanced around warily.] A bandit dad that's going to rip out my entrails for touching you?

[He hoped not.]

B: Video

[One of the comforts that came from the change in Vaughn's scenery was the technology. It was a little inferior to what he was familiar with, but certainly a lot better than the damaged scrap that he'd been able to kick up on Pandora. After running about with the dog creature that had apparently decided to be his friend, Vaughn found himself rifling through his pack. After plucking out a few things and setting them aside for later, he finally found the Pokegear.]

[Figuring out the interface was easy enough. Antiquated or not, most tech seemed to follow the same sorts of patterns. It didn't take the man long to figure out the broadcasting options, and even less time to start recording.]

I, uh... I think this thing is recording? Still trying to figure all this out though. Vintage tech is nice and all but... gotta wonder what's going on. Is this some kind of Pandoran torture thing? Is Hyperion out there listening, messing with my head for squatting on their property? Because look, you try living out in the middle of the desert with a camp of infants.

I mean. [Vaughn trailed off, scratching at his beard.] Look this is all kind of weird to me. Familiar, almost? I can't put my finger on it, but it feels like I should be recognizing something, you know?

If it helps, I've never heard of a place called Pandora. I don't think we're in any real danger here.

[This place is certainly bizarre, but Asami is pretty confident that whatever brought them here isn't trying to torture them. Well, the music is starting to get annoying.]

What about this place is familiar to you? Do you think you've been here before?

[Not to put pressure on the visibly stressed stranger, but Asami isn't too keen on staying here herself. For now she'll ignore the remark about squatting with infants.]

[ Haha considering he was literally sentenced to jail time and cleaning up stables at home, waking up in a weird town and being given the "welcome to pokemon world" spiel is a pretty sweet deal. The technology is going to go way above his head for a while, but apparently one of these fun critters has decided it likes hanging out around Hans and he can't get rid of it.

I mean, Hans is a totally nice guy, why is a Trubbish following him around? ]

Do you mind? [ He turns finally. Look, he's not gonna hate on an animal but this thing smells and it doesn't look like it's going to leave him alone. Even as he takes a few steps, the cute little garbage pokemon seems insistent on trying to hug him. Gross...! There's definitely no garbage here. ]

Go home. [ He grits out with a glare, only to realize that oh yeah, people might be watching. He switches it up to a smile just as fast. ] Please. Are you lost? Can I... help you?

B: Video

[ Let's handwave the fact that Hans figured out his pokegear and he's a natural with the camera of course! The video starts off with his friendly face, followed immediately by a Goomy walking over the lens. ] Hey! I need that, would you just--

[ He peels it off and wipes the lens with his gloves. That's better. ]

I'm told this broadcasts to everyone so, hello everyone! I seem to be stranded here along with you all now, it's nice to meet you. I'm afraid I have a lot to learn since things are so different here... but I'm looking forward to it regardless.

[ Gosh, what an honest, welcoming message. What a guy. ]

Just one question though-- people can trade pokemon right? Does anyone want a, what was it... a Trubbish? One of those followed me and hasn't left me alone since. I could use a little help.

[Asami's not sure what 'starter pokemon' means exactly, but she's gleaned some basic information from her pokegear and the man called Professor Oak.]

If you look up, you might see something on the tops of the buildings. Not a bird Pokemon, not a plane, not a superhero! Some eighteen-year old punk running across the rooftops like he's racing, flowing over the ledges, vaulting over vents and leaping between buildings like a bird. Seriously, if he misses a beat he's going to end up with something broken if he's lucky. To add to a parent's nightmare, there's a Pokemon following him. A Riolu was eagerly racing with him, throwing itself into the activity with gutso.

He fnally travels down to a building with two floors nearby, taking a seat with his legs dangling over the egde of the building and looking really pleased with...well, everything.

"Holy shit, there's not a single pidgeon spike around here! You doing good there?" He asked the Riolu, a touch of an Irish brogue in his London accent. The Riolu nodded and flopped down beside him.

[ Video ]

[ The screen opens on a scruffy young man who is grinning widely. He's holding up a Rockruff, who is also grinning with it's tongue flopping out and wagging it's tail. ]

Check this shit out! I found another dog and it's so awesome! She doesn't go on two legs but she's got rocks in her fur! And check out the blue eyes she's got! [ Now all you can see are the Rockruff's big, admittedly very blue eyes. Then she presses her nose on the screen, smudging it until she's brought back and Ash can be seen again. He puts her down, stretching his arms. ]

Aaaaand I think I got some of my powers back. I'm gonna try it out now real quick- [ He puts the camera down beside the Rockruff and backs up, facing a large wall. Wit a running start he leaps up it, managing to get a good three feet up...then scrambles and ends up falling down it. ]

...Fuck man. I thought I had it! [ :C He looks pretty sad now. ]

[The image, at first, is upside down, but Asami is quick to correct this with a small intrigued sound.]

This is incredible. [Though larger, more mechanical creations are more of her thing. Gloved fingers accidentally brush over the screen, temporarily hiding green eyes narrowed in concentration.] How does it do all of this?

[There's a muffled 'vulpix' from somewhere off screen and that seems to bring the young woman back to focus, her look of focus replaced with one of surprise.]

Oh, is it on? Am I on the... [She pauses, carefully sounding out the words:] PokéGear Connect?

[The lack of response makes her feel a little foolish, but if this is her only option...]

My name's Asami Sato, and I'm trying to find someone- her name's Korra. We were travelling together before I woke up here, and I just thought- I don't know where she could have gone.

[There's definitely a hint of some sort of sadness to her tone, loneliness even.]

If anyone has met her, or knows of a way I can contact her, I'd really- [Another pause.] -appreciate it.

[On one hand, it was a relief that the Spirit World was not New Bark Town- Asami's first reaction upon analyzing her surroundings had been nothing short of disappointment. On the other hand, New Bark Town and by extension Johto was not the Spirit World. And not where Asami was supposed to be.

And Korra wasn't there.

Asami liked to think herself resourceful in a crisis, but even this was above her.

She sat off to the side of the crowd gathered around the old man in the center of the town, wrapped a coat she had found but didn't remember packing, the device called a pokegear in her hand. A Vulpix perches next to her, poised and elegant with its nose tilted up just so; she's still not quite sure what to make of that.

Occasionally she looks up, green eyes scanning the crowd, as if she's looking for someone in particular. When she doesn't see what she's looking for she lets out a disappointed sigh and returns to fussing with the pokegear.]

[It's almost too good to be true. It's not like Korra hasn't thought about it, one day just flipping on the network and seeing Asami...but it actually happening? She scrambles to flip the reply button, not caring that she's a mess from training, her furret draped over her shoulders. She's all grins as she presses the button.]

Nora Valkyrie | RWBY

Action - Goldenrod City

[After weeks of traveling, finally Nora has made it to a place that looks like something more than a little hamlet. Well, Violet City wasn't so bad, but she got stuck trying to climb Bellsprout Tower. Even all the action stunts she does back home didn't stop her from feeling a little sick watching that beam move back and forth. With her Mienfoo at her side, Nora stops at the entrance of the city and puts her hands on her hips.]

We're finally here, Ren! [She looks down as the one called Ren looks back up at her.] Let's trash this gym.


Network

[Nora pops up on the screen with a grin, waving at anyone watching.]

Hey there! Today I'm gonna show you guys something really cool! Pinky, keep the gear still.

[There's a soft 'moo' from behind the camera as Nora moves to stand across from her Minefoo Ren. She takes out a Pokeball and releases a Voltorb who looks like it was just waking up. She picks it up and holds it over her head.]

Ready, Ren? [A sound of affirmation comes from the Pokemon. Nora bends back with the Voltorb before tossing it at the Mienfoo.]

Voltorb, use Explosion! Ren, use Detect!

[The two Pokemon do what their trainer as of them as the explosion harmlessly bounces off of Ren, the fainted Voltorb plopping down and rolling a few feet before stopping. Ren looks like he's dusting himself off before bowing to the camera. Nora throws her arms into the air with a big cheer.] And that's how it's done!

[Honestly, sometimes Pyrrha is amazed by Nora. Not for her fighting prowess or the fact that she can pack a hella punch in such a short package, but for her general... Nora-ness.

Suffice to say she's glad that there isn't a place like Bellsprout Tower in this city. She does not want to go through that climb again with her teammate.]

We should probably stop at the Center first before we start trashing anything. [Not that she had a problem getting through the forest with her steely Honedge, who is currently floating gently beside her, but a bit of rest never hurt anyone.]

Anthy Himemiya | Revolutionary Girl Utena

Action: Goldenrod City

[The weight of one of the creatures she'd been given by the "Rockets" (Aipom, they said it was) is much heavier than Chuchu, of course, but that didn't stop Anthy from likening them immediately. He sits patiently on one shoulder, his tail draped over the other, as the second creature (Vulpix, she's sure it's called) trots right at her heels. Not that Anthy's moving fast, by the way, she's taking her time walking along the sidewalk, stopping at most of the storefronts to peer into them. Perhaps you've been walking behind her and are getting annoyed with how slow she's been, and how, by coincidence, there's been no way to get around her. Or maybe you're in the store she's looking into, and you lock eyes with her - if so, she gives you a smile and a wave. Either way, you run into this strange, quiet young lady. What do?]

[Video: National Park]

[There's a slow panning shot of a bushy part of the park, where not a lot of people go rooting around for bug Pokemon in, and a soft gasp can be heard when the feed stops on a bush in bloom. The quiet crunch of light footsteps on winter grass brings the view closer, and a hand appears to tilt up a white flower.]

Oh...this is hellebore, isn't it?

[The voice is even, and the words inflected like they should be disappointed, but the tone is more of vague surprise.]

I had hoped it was a rose...but it's not quite time for a real rose to bloom, is it? [The hand strays to another flower, not yet open.] I'm surprised they let these grow in a public park. Hellebore is supposed to be poisonous...hm?

[The hand has strayed from the flowers to an odd, light green bulb, lighter in color than the surrounding foliage. With the care of someone who has spent time working with delicate flowers, the hand goes to cup the side of the bulb, only for it to push forward, a Budew emerging.]

Oh - !

[The Poke'gear falls to the ground in a clatter, turning off as it catches a glimpse of Anthy's wide-eyed, genuinely surprised expression.]

[Oh my. The surprise goes both ways, as Rakka watches everything tumble around before finally ending.

Who knew people could be surprised by flowers, huh?]

Princess Azula // Avatar: The Last Airbender

Action - Arrival

[Not usually one for taking orders, Azula takes her sweet time getting dressed as she sorts out what exactly is happening to her. Her last memories are of retreating from the Fire Nation Capitol to plot her next move in manipulating Firelord Zuko and now...]

Deee.

[Now she was sitting in a small room looking at some kind of hairy lizard creature that had just come out of an impossibly small ball.]

It's finally happened...I've completely slipped into madness.

[Moving very slowly as to not upset the creatures (As Azula has never been particularly great with animals) she holds out a pillow as a sort of shield in case it decides to lash out at her. The creature did not though it sniffed at the pillow curiously and then bit down tugging her makeshift shield away and shaking it vigorously sending feathers everywhere.]

Well you're...enthusiastic.

[After finally getting dressed Azula tries...and fails to leave the Deino in her room. It follows her into the hallway as she begins to poke around the base looking for an exit, or something useful.]

Action - Training Daze
[While Azula loathes the idea that she's working for someone else, she's going to make the best of it. Training with the other grunts is a nice stroke to her ego as her years of training her body and mind prove to make simple projects like pick pocketing and lock picking a breeze. It's almost enough to help her get over the creeping horror of not having her fire bending anymore.

As part of todays training she's working with other grunts to try and infiltrate a building, steal a rare pokemon and make a daring escape. With such bare bones instructions it leaves plenty of room for creativity. Now she just has to see which partners she's been given to work with.]

You there! Who are you and what pokemon do you have to work with?

Action - Random encounter

[Now complete with her Rocket training and out in the world seeking new and interesting ways to loot and plunder, Azula muses upon her new life as a common hood. It simply doesn't suit her to be considered a "Grunt" and so she'll have to raise in status one way or another.

For the time being her tools are these two creatures, a Deino and a Vulpix who are now looking up at her curiously...well the Vulpix is looking anyway. The Deino is just listening...probably]

Alright you two, we've come out here to train and to plan our next moves. I want to be extremely clear that nothing short of perfection will be tolerated. I have suffered at the hands of traitorous fools long enough and this world is a chance for me to rise to power in a new way.

[Neither of her pokemon seem to understand what she's going on about, but they'll do what she asks so maybe that's enough.]

I am your Princess and you two are warriors from this day forward. Koko despite your...flaws you have the potential in you to become a great and powerful dragon! Feared by all!

[Koko the Deino lets out a pleased sounding cry so she assumes her inspiration has hit and moves on.]

And while you are a small creature Cinder, you have a flame inside you with the power to blaze through all who would dare defy you. Fire is the mightiest element and has proven its destructive superiority! In time even the ocean itself will tremble in your presence.

[ Cinder seems to pick up a little more of what the Princess is laying down and lets out a cute little howl which almost melts Azula's twisted little heart.]

Remain loyal to me and your names will be legend.

[Should you happen to stumble across this little inspirational pep talk, you can sneak up on her or announce yourself so she isn't startled by your presence.]

[Todays video broadcast features Azula lounging dramatically in a tall backed computer chair with a Vulpix in her lap. She looks impressive but that might just be the camera angle and lighting.]

Greetings Peasants.

[Fresh out on her pokemon adventure with a loyal Mawile at her side, Gaige is riding high on the idea of having a pokemon adventure.]

Alright Anarchy, we're gonna level grind like there's no tomorrow! Consider yourself lucky you're on the winning team because I am a certified badass! Can you say Badass?

We'll work on that. Anyway I've fought monsters the size of friggin' buildings! And you may not be my usual partner...but Deathtrap wouldn't want me to dwell on the past!

[She sounds a little choked up mentioning her former partner]

DT, we'll make you proud! Now let's get into that grass and find something worth fighting!!!

[ The loud mouthed girl throws herself headlong into the grass swiping with her hands while the Mawile follows hot on her heels. She may not understand her trainer very much yet, but you can't deny her enthusiasm can you? Maybe you can offer her some advice so she can stop being a noob faster.]

Sure there's some risk involved, and Jinx hasn't pulled off a second story job in a while but how hard can it be? Like riding a bike on a rooftop.

Unfortunately for Jinx without her powers all she's got is her acrobatic training to rely on, and since coming here she's not as adept as she used to be, which leads to a slip, a tumble, and getting tangled in her cords while her Murkrow tries to help her out. [Waking up in a world entirely unlike the one she left behind is nothing new to Mei, but the circumstances associated with this time around are considerably more positive. It’s a bright, sunny day, there’s pleasant music playing in the background, and there are no sentient robots running around destroying the world. (As far as she can tell, anyway.) The strangest thing she’s encountered is the wildlife, but it’s the good kind of strange-- The kind that rekindles her sense of discovery and imagination, that reminds her why she became a scientist in the first place.]

[The pokemon on her shoulder chirps and rubs its head against her cheek, which serves as a reminder of another one of the reasons she’s embracing this change in scenery with open arms-- These things are just so goshdarned cute. Mei giggles and pats the Castform affectionately before continuing on her merry way, exploring New Bark Town with the utmost enthusiasm. It’s rewarding work, and she’d do it all day, if she could. There’s just one problem…

She is wearing a coat. A giant, heavy coat. And the aforementioned sunny day? That doesn’t mix well with her choice in apparel. Mei eventually stops and sits on a conveniently placed bench near a tree, drawn to the offered shade from the heat bearing down like a moth to a flame. She fans herself, and anyone nearby can see that she is sweating and red in the face.

[ Much like Mei, Chris is a new arrival as well. With his weapons gone and a leery Stufful keeping its distance from him, Chris decides he's better off skimming through his PokéGear in the meantime. Along with people-watching here and there, but what snaps him out of planning out his course is Mei taking a seat close by. While he's certainly better off in his BSAA uniform in regards to the heat, he still finds some shade to find his bearings.

Looking up, Chris gauges she was either someone who had just arrived or a traveler who overestimated the region and its weather. Regardless, he speaks up when he catches how bright red Mei is. ]

Doing all right? [ Chris glances at his PokéGear again to double check the time. Just half-past noon by now; which might be rough for Mei considering her gear. ] If you plan on setting out for Cherrygrove today, then you oughta wait a few hours. The heat should die down by three or so.

Diana's not entirely sure how long she just sat upright in the bed she found herself in. She'd screamed when she woke up. But the complete contrast of her new surroundings to those moments before was so absolute that she'd frozen. The walls around her may not be colourful but they were clean, free of damp and mold and graffiti. The floor too. There was nothing. When had it become a surprise for her to see the floor of a room so empty? She brought the sheets up to her face and sniffed. Clean. Detergent.

And then she'd cried. She didn't know how long she did that for either. Long enough for her head to throb and her eyes to sting. For the sheets grasped in her hands to be marked with damp patches of salt water and mucus. She felt light-headed and didn't realize how dizzy she was until she tried to dress herself. Since when had putting on trousers been so difficult?

She'd knocked the ball over with her stumbling. She'd screamed at the noise and light it created. She and the weird lizard that appeared had stared at each other in silence until it took a step towards her. Then she'd cursed at it, thrown a pillow and pressed herself right into the corner of the room. The thing had panicked and scurried under her bed.

It had been a quarter of an hour before Diana tried to sneak for the door. The lizard peered at her from the gap. She pressed herself against the wall and tried not to look. But then had to look, because she had to make sure she knew where it was.

After half an hour of watching each other, the creature took some cautious steps from out under the bed as Diana remained rooted to the spot. It picked up its weird capsule and wobbled over to her on two legs like a uncoordinated toddler, holding it out to her.

Finally, she and the monster exit the room. Diana is still glancing at it wearily with her swollen pink eyes as it trails behind her but right now she's more focused on finding some other actual humans. Preferably over the age of fifteen.

He was currently standing in the middle of the path while he waited for his companion to snap pictures of some fishermen, his Munchlax waddling around him in a circle, happily repeating "Munch munch munch~" to itself as it went. A somewhat fond smile touched Noctis's lips before he looked over to where Prompto was, hands going to his hips as he saw the other finally returning.]

They probably could afford a day of rest after all. Journeying around this land by foot weeks a time was a lot more exhausting than she would have thought.

So she's coming up beside him, small bag of berries in hand and her Popplio coming up beside her. She's no Ignis and needs to teach herself how to cook with these things, but at least it's something for everyone.]

For a moment he just doubles over, broad hands on his knees, trying to regain his breath. Then he straightens up, jabbing a finger right at you. He's still breathing hard, his rough voice made rougher for it.]

I prefer to at least begin with some degree of strategy in mind, but given that it's impossible to anticipate all outcomes, I try to be somewhat flexible, as well. Although most of the gyms are fairly straightforward, really.
