Sorry, sorry. That was kind of a joke.

[Ok serious explanation time.]

I'm what people call nonbinary, or enby, which means I'm neither a man or a woman. As far as referring to me, I prefer nongendered language like they/them instead of she or he and person instead of man or woman. I can go more in depth about it if you'd like, but that's the gist of it.

The name's Chris, by the way.

[He listens attentively, nodding as they speak, and files the information away for later. It immediately strikes him as something entirely foreign, but he doesn't have to understand it fully to be respectful. He can always look up more information later.]

Alright... it's good to meet you, Chris. I'm Joseph - although most people call me Jojo. And this is Prince.

[He gestures at his Pidgey, who has unruffled his feathers and now looks even smaller. Prince seems excited to hear his own name, and spreads his wings out to pose proudly.]

I'm not sure I can spare the time to walk you back to town, but I can at least help you get a fire started. Doesn't always keep the wild Pokemon away, but the cold is the real killer.

[The Shroodle squeaked happily.]

A fire would be nice, thank you. I've never been camping before, I kinda came out unprepared...

[And they're a bit out of their depth without any of their magic.]

To be honest, I'm new to it myself - but new experiences are their own reward, I think. So! First - Prince, could you go gather some sticks?

[The Pidgey nods his head and flies off. In the meantime, Joseph yanks on a branch from a nearby tree and manages to break it off - the tree was already dead, but it still looks impressive.]

Fresh wood will be wet, which makes it burn slower, so you want a lot of dead sticks and leaves at the bottom to keep it going until the logs dry out. I can lend you a pocket-knife, if you'd like to try your hand at breaking this down - just be careful, it takes a lot of force.

Doodle can go find some leaves then. And I'd like to try, yeah!

[Doodle squeaks and scurries off to collect nearby leaves, staying near enough to be able to hear them if a wild Pokemon attacks. Meanwhile, Chris takes the pocket-knife. Strength may not be Chris's strongest stat, but after a try or two they get the hang of it.]
