Kanaya Maryam | Homestuck (EoA5) [reposted because I can't spell]
[Waking up in strange places, surrounded by strange people was unfortunately common for the young troll. Maybe it was a little odd that there was a human lusus insisting she take a lunch, but there were also the familiar touches that reminded Kanaya of her dreambubbles all the same.]
[Namely, the fuzzy, grub-like creature nosing around her feet.]
[Where some of those around her wandered around with looks of confusion, Kanaya marched forward gracefully. It was normal, with these sorts of things, for the bubble's purpose to reveal itself sooner or later. Until then, she could wander about this strange hybrid between a game of FLARP and Fiduspawn, and make the best of it.]
[And right now, the best of it seemed to be settling beneath a tree with her strange companion, and waiting for the owner of the bubble to come forward.]
Goldenrod City, Department Store
[It's probably frighteningly common for things to be possessed by ghosts and the like in the Johto region. Which is likely why the rattling of a nearby clothes rack might not draw someone's attention. The muttering on the other hand? Perhaps a touch more odd.]
[Kanaya Maryam was none too concerned with what passersby might think, however. At present, she was elbows deep in various clothing items, rifling through them at a maddening rate.]
Excuse me -- [Her head shot up, green eyes seeking out the nearest person.] It would appear that coordinating an outfit with the human epidermis is a far more herculean task than I had anticipated. Could you be so kind as to help me determine which of these garments is the most befitting of my current form?
Goldenrod Dept. Store
[Asriel looks up from the scarves he's been looking at, having been entranced by the patterns and wondering how they were made - it would be pretty cool to make something like that for his Pokemon, if it's possible - and he blinks a little, surprised by being questioned. He's not used to loquacious talking, but he does know what the words mean, and what they imply. After all, he's had his own problems with clothes in a human body. Taking into account his shorter ears and lack of fur were the things that stood out most.]
Um...sure, I can try. Is, um, is it really different to how you were before?
no subject
[As such, she wasn't entirely sure how to speak to the young man, at least outside of her usual, longwinded way.]
Quite. My skin was far more akin to a sheet of writing-pulp, and had an aura of luminescence about it. [She paused, tongue running over now blunted teeth. Better to not mention that little detail.] I also possessed a pair of horns, if that interests you?
no subject
[If he ever got to be a teenager.]
no subject
I am certain your horns would have been magnificent. Would they have been white as well? [The less she thought about it, the easier it was to talk to the human. Instinctively, she knelt down before the man, hands resting upon her knees as she fixed him with a tender smile.]
What else can you tell me of your planet? Are there many bleat-beasts like yourself?
no subject
[In Kanaya's world, Boss Monsters would probably have been considered a species of lusus.]
Oh, uh, well...no, there weren't a lot of us. Me 'n my parents were the only Boss Monsters I ever knew about. And, I don't know much about places outside the Underground, but I can tell you all about that.
no subject
[Wow that was a lot of words.]
You want help picking an outfit that looks good?
[Sorry Kanaya, you have probably chosen your help rather poorly here.]
no subject
That is what I said, is it not?
[Without waiting for an answer, Kanaya plucked out two dresses, one jade green and the other a rose pink. She held both up to her frame, then glanced at Penny.]
Thoughts?
[A Penny for them, even.]
no subject
[You'd know best, obviously.]
Um-
[She looks over the selected dresses, at least taking a second to put some thought into the choice.]
I like the green one! The pink is really pretty too, but the green suits you.
whew sorry about the delay!
Yes I think you are right. Green has always suited me. [She returned the pink dress to its rightful place, then carefully folded the jade over her shoulder.]
I don't suppose you know how to pick out shoes, do you?
Goldenrod department store
Although, perhaps you're looking at her because of her fashion sense? After all she's managed to pull some of these off.
Thanks Botan, you're a lifesaver....Unfortunately, Rakka is by no means a efficient scholar, or someone that reads a thesaurus often. She exchanges a look with the Cubone riding in her arms, then back to Kanaya:]
...Sure! How can I help?
no subject
[The very thought made her shudder, and quickly dragged her back to the task at hand. It was a far better topic to focus on.]
I am trying to decide whether I should buy this fashionable strangulation device [A scarf was held up.] or this bag made of what I presume is hoofbeast skin? [A fine leather purse.]
depaato de ALSO HI I'M LATE AF I'M SORRY
[He stops in his tracks.]
["Coordinating an outfit," that's one thing. He wouldn't give a shit if it were just that. "Human epidermis," though, is something else altogether (it's been a year and his reflection still startles him), and that—that precise wording, the voice, the care she takes with every syllable, it's...]
[He turns his head slowly to look at her, jaw dropping because it's never not fucking weird to see familiar features put through a goddamn filter to be all pink and hornless. Is that actually her? Because—]
... Kanaya?
[(He's missed her so much.)]
no subject
[But there was something in the pinch of his brow, the way his footsteps had echoed behind her before she had even spoken. And then there was the stunned familiarity, as if he weren't some random battle that she'd indulged in a Fiduspawn battle with.]
[Mixed all together, and there were still a number of conclusions she could have made. Eridan could have been particularly perturbed by the lack of purple in the display. Equius could have spotted a particularly seductive looking horse toy and stormed away.]
[But there was one person she wanted to see, perhaps more than ever. Though she wouldn't allow her thoughts to settle on his face, to even consider hoping, her lips still pushed out his name in a near whisper.]
Karkat?
all that waiting and then short tag I AM SORRY BUT. THINGS. DON'T LOOK AT ME
