Wilbur Robinson

[personal profile] notapigeon 2017-09-25 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
[Wilbur had been waiting his entire life to go on his very own childhood adventure. He knew the day would come when he'd set off on his own and go out into the great big world, either with a new power or some sort of rag tag team of companions. A fighting animal companion was just as good. It would be his very own. Something he could raise and train, and soon enough, he and his new friend would be considered the best. Yes, Wilbur could see it now.

But imagine his surprise when, after waiting impatiently to be given his own partner, he was handed a pigeon. Not something "wicked cool", but a pigeon. A Pidove, as he had been corrected, but if it looked like a pigeon and it sounded like a pigeon, it was a pigeon.

Now, Wilbur stood out in town, a small but ruffled Pidove tucked under his arm. He stared down at his PokeGear, contemplating his next move. Mostly, how he was going to get out of town without having to explain the pigeon.]

backflips on in here, It's Time For Disneys

[Too late! The Pidove has got the attention of a certain Zoroark. Fay, bless her motherly soul, is seemingly magnetically drawn to any Pokemon under ten levels. She scampers up to the pair, half on her hind legs and half on all-fours, purple mane shining in the afternoon sun. Close behind her is her trainer, who is more than used to this happening whenever he lets her roam around outside of her ball.]

Is that a Pidove? I've never seen one up close!

[Were you looking for him to apologize for his nosy Pokemon, who is now attempting to literally boop her snoot against the Pidove's beak? Nope. Ford Pines isn't tactful enough for that by a longshot.]

[Nothing surprises Wilbur, but he's a little caught off guard by another creature running up to him so easily, especially one that seemed more interested in his Pidove than him. He also wasn't expecting a person to come along with it.]

What? Oh, this? [Wilbur shifted his Pidove in his arms, holding it like a feathery football.] Well, if you've seen one pigeon, you've seen them all.

Pidove is merely a Pokemon that resembles what you might recognize as a pigeon, my boy. There are no common pigeons in this universe, but there are an awful lot of powerful and dubiously-magical beings that happen to look an awful lot like them.

[He still can't decide exactly if he thinks Pokemon are magical or not, but then, all magic has a scientific explanation and all science looks like magic to someone. It's just semantics, which is probably why he's still uncertain because boy howdy does Stanford Pines like arguing semantics.]

And they always tend to fly away long before I get a good sketch of them. Do you mind if I draw yours?

[He is already reaching into his coat for his journal. This is happening.]

[personal profile] notapigeon 2017-09-28 06:53 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, well, I guess. [Wilbur carried his Pidove to the nearest bench and set it down. Pidove ruffled up a bit before settling down. For a second, Wilbur thought maybe it was cute. For a pigeon.]

So, uh, this place? Is it pretty normal for people to just show up here? Or is it a special occasion?
meteorman: (26 | frees us from our sin)

[personal profile] meteorman 2017-09-28 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
[Ford flipped his book open to a fresh page and crouched down on his haunches to get a better straight-on angle.]

Oh, yes, yes. Very normal. It's been happening with regularity for almost a decade now, I believe. My best guess is that this universe has some sort of magnetic attraction for wormholes, and so whenever someone falls through one there's a high probability they'll be funneled here.

[He was clearly speaking to Wilbur, but his eyes were fixed on that Pidove. His sketchwork was quick, clean and detailed, as though he'd got a lot of practice taking field notes -- which he had. Next to him Fay crouched in much the same position, though every now and again her ears twitched and she leaned forward like she was going to try and boop her snout into the Pidove again. She didn't, of course, she knew it'd get in the way. But also: she wanted to.]

Of course that's only theory.

[personal profile] notapigeon 2017-09-28 08:48 am (UTC)(link)
Wormholes, huh? [Wilbur rubbed his chin and tried to remember if his dad ever talked about wormhole before.] I dunno much about those. Teleportation? Sure. Time travel? Piece of cake. But wormholes? Sounds a bit tricky. [He shook his head.] Not to say it can't happen. I mean, anything's possible. I'm obviously here, and I can say for fact that I'm not from here.
meteorman: (4 | bipedal p)

[personal profile] meteorman 2017-09-28 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
They are tricky. But you have the basic building blocks down already!

[He added some more definition to the feathers on Pidove's wing.]

Traversing a wormhole can be thought of as teleporting through time, after a fashion. Your location in four-dimensional space changes, often instantaneously. The thing that makes wormholes difficult in my experience is they're difficult to spot until you've already walked into them, and they can appear and disappear without warning.

Which explains why I wound up here without meaning to, while my -- [Don't say brother don't open that can of worms no thanks] -- traveling companion did not.
notapigeon: (Wilbur > You know...)

[personal profile] notapigeon 2017-09-29 09:11 am (UTC)(link)
[Wilbur was used to this science jargon, even if he didn't understand it half the time. At least there were some things here that reminded him of home.

He crouched beside the old man, folding his arms over his knees.]

Okay, so it's possible that, at some point in time, another one could show up here? Maybe take someone home, or another place entirely?
meteorman: (57 | dont come near it)

[personal profile] meteorman 2017-10-01 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
Very possible. People disappear just as often as they arrive. My nephew--

[MMMMMMMMM]

This Zoroark used to belong to him. When he left I took over her care. This leads me to believe Pokémon cannot be taken outside the confines of this universe, for whatever reason.

[Izuku hadn't been looking to bump into anyone, but now that he had a new notebook and pen, he had wasted no time getting to write what he learned and his plans to survive and do the best he could with his Pokemon. Deku the Togepi was happily trailing behind him, not paying enough attention to warn Izuku of the other boy standing there.

And so, with something of a thud, Izuku and Wilbur collided, Izuku's forehead smacking the back of the younger boy's head, making him let out a yelp of pain.]
Ack!!

[Once he was through stumbling back in pain, he opened his eyes to see Wilbur.] I'm sorry! I wasn't paying attention and I bumped you! Are you ok?
notapigeon: (pic#4219608)

[personal profile] notapigeon 2017-09-28 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
[Wilbur let out a sharp yell and stumbled forward. His Pidove slipped out of his arms, and instead of flying, just seemed to roll a few feet away. Wilbur grabbed the back of his head and turned to see who just attacked him.] Is this the welcoming party? [He rubbed the sore spot gingerly.] I'm fine. What about you?
nolongeruseless: (12)

[personal profile] nolongeruseless 2017-09-28 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry! [Izuku is still rubbing his forehead too, still feeling the sting. Deku the Togepi, meanwhile, is running to catch up with the rolling with Pidove, apparently more concerned with the fellow Pokemon.] I'm ok... And no, I'm not the welcoming party, I just got here too.
notapigeon: (pic#4219488)

[personal profile] notapigeon 2017-09-29 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
Well, okay then. I'll forgive you this time. [Wilbur looked around to see where his Pidove had gotten off to. It had come to rest in a tuft of grass and Wilbur shook his head as he walked over to retrieve it. Pidove let out a low chirp as Wilbur picked it up and cradled it under his arm again. He glanced down at the tiny, worried Togepi.]

Is this little confetti egg yours?
nolongeruseless: (Default)

[personal profile] nolongeruseless 2017-09-29 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Izuku lets out a sigh of relief that nothing comes of their bumping, and just looks down at Togepi when Wilbur asks about him. ] Ah, yes. His name's Deku. [And he picks up said Pokemon as he peeks curiously at Wilbur's Pidove.] Is that a pigeon?

Dude, you gonna stand there forever or are you gonna actually go on this adventure they're shoving down our throats?

[Chloe's sidled up next to him like it's no big deal, her Munchlax bopping beside her.]

Nice pigeon.
notapigeon: (pic#4219491)

(I thought of something better...)

[personal profile] notapigeon 2017-09-29 10:25 am (UTC)(link)
He's not mine. [It was an abrupt response. Wilbur wasn't really sure why he answered so quickly.] I'm holding him for my friend, Johnny... [He glanced around, trying to come up with a convincing name.] Table. Johnny Table.
hellablue: cutepieofrph @ tumblr (26)

what a goob

[personal profile] hellablue 2017-09-29 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[Chloe squints at him, and even Munchlax, who honestly just does his own thing, looks a little suspicious at him.]

I'm onto you.

[It's the oldest trick in the book, and she's been around the block a few times. Make up a name when you're obviously lying. Oh she's done that numerous times, it's almost boring by now.]

But dude, if you stole the bird I ain't gonna rat you out. It's not my style.
