"My mum is a professional singer. I've learned a lot; mostly by osmosis," she said. "Hello, it's nice to meet you both."
To Dusk she asked, "You like him?" with the expectation to getting an understandable answer.
Meanwhile Pickles croaks out, "Hello Poopy Head!" in Gaelic.

"Oh? You must be quite good, then," he said. Dusk, meanwhile, nodded in response to the question. "Of course."
Or at least, that's what Ceilidh would hear; to Sion it was merely the usual poke-speak, though he knew Dusk well enough by now to know she answered in the affirmative even without seeing the nod.
... Neither of them, however, had the faintest clue of Gaelic.

This is something that is contested with a few people she's met at school. When your mother is a famous singer and your aunt is queen you get a lot of 'uh-huh, sure'. She's not at all peeved at this. It doesn't at all come out in the tone of her voice.
"Good, good." She nodded to Dusk. Critters tend to be excellent judges of character and so she asks them their opinions as often as she can when meeting people with them.

Dusk watched the exchange with mild interest. She was, perhaps, a little curious--she couldn't tell if Ceilidh's response was just to her nod, or if she actually had some idea what the absol had said--but her primary focus, as always, was Sion.

Oh, in other circumstances she'd shamelessly use her family connections. When you're related to the king of Eire or from a very famous family and you want to get into a good restaurant or movie premier... but those are minor things. For school or serious things, she will do it on her own merits.
Or her mum will thump her. (Not really... but disappointed mother is ... not... good and she would have done it otherwise.)
"Would you like a ribbon?" This is obviously to Dusk as she pulled out a sparkly pink ribbon like Pickles wore. "I've also got green and blue. I'm out of red."

Some people could hardly be trusted to give even remotely unbiased opinions, after all. Dusk, meanwhile, cocked her head at the question. "Are they all like that?"
Someone who can't understand poke-talk would still probably get that she was unsure what to think of the offer, at least.

A deep solid blue sort of found in ponds and a bright green, color of new grass, ribbon are pulled out in addition to the bubblegum pink and shown to Dusk. "Yes they are. But the blue one isn't as obvious. The green one glows in the dark."

Sion was certainly familiar with that sort of attitude. He also had been just about to intervene with an approximate interpretation of what Dusk had said, when Ceilidh responded herself before he could.
"Ah, you know what she said?"
no subject
His question startles her briefly as it's a bit ... well... yes... Nodding she said, "Yup! It's my knack. I can understand and be understood by animals."
A beaming smile. Her attention returns to Dusk and raised her eyebrows curiously in waiting for an answer.
