It's nice when people don't see anything wrong with the names. Because there's nothing wrong with them.

"My mum is a professional singer. I've learned a lot; mostly by osmosis," she said. "Hello, it's nice to meet you both."

To Dusk she asked, "You like him?" with the expectation to getting an understandable answer.

Meanwhile Pickles croaks out, "Hello Poopy Head!" in Gaelic.

Given that Sion had a Goodra that refuses to respond to anything other than "Boo", well, he knows how it can be with naming. Then again, even if he did think it odd, he certainly was too composed to let on to that fact.

"Oh? You must be quite good, then," he said. Dusk, meanwhile, nodded in response to the question. "Of course."

Or at least, that's what Ceilidh would hear; to Sion it was merely the usual poke-speak, though he knew Dusk well enough by now to know she answered in the affirmative even without seeing the nod.

... Neither of them, however, had the faintest clue of Gaelic.

"I'm okay. But I'm going to be an actress!" A dramatic pose! "I got into the Eire Bardic School all by myself without my mum's help or Aunt's."

This is something that is contested with a few people she's met at school. When your mother is a famous singer and your aunt is queen you get a lot of 'uh-huh, sure'. She's not at all peeved at this. It doesn't at all come out in the tone of her voice.

"Good, good." She nodded to Dusk. Critters tend to be excellent judges of character and so she asks them their opinions as often as she can when meeting people with them.

"Determined to make your way for yourself, I take it?" Sion could certainly respect that. It was a far better attitude than some people had, shamelessly using any means available to get what they wanted, with no thought or concern for the consequences.

Dusk watched the exchange with mild interest. She was, perhaps, a little curious--she couldn't tell if Ceilidh's response was just to her nod, or if she actually had some idea what the absol had said--but her primary focus, as always, was Sion.

"Of course. People will respect you more that way."

Oh, in other circumstances she'd shamelessly use her family connections. When you're related to the king of Eire or from a very famous family and you want to get into a good restaurant or movie premier... but those are minor things. For school or serious things, she will do it on her own merits.

Or her mum will thump her. (Not really... but disappointed mother is ... not... good and she would have done it otherwise.)

"Would you like a ribbon?" This is obviously to Dusk as she pulled out a sparkly pink ribbon like Pickles wore. "I've also got green and blue. I'm out of red."

"Precisely," Sion replied. "At least, the ones whose opinions can be relied upon, that is."

Some people could hardly be trusted to give even remotely unbiased opinions, after all. Dusk, meanwhile, cocked her head at the question. "Are they all like that?"

Someone who can't understand poke-talk would still probably get that she was unsure what to think of the offer, at least.

"Those are hard to get sometimes." Her lips pressed into a thin line and there was an almost minute shake of her head. Her family's reputation often proceeded her. "Especially if you're well known."

A deep solid blue sort of found in ponds and a bright green, color of new grass, ribbon are pulled out in addition to the bubblegum pink and shown to Dusk. "Yes they are. But the blue one isn't as obvious. The green one glows in the dark."

"Well known, or powerful, or otherwise have any reason for people to wish to befriend you..."

Sion was certainly familiar with that sort of attitude. He also had been just about to intervene with an approximate interpretation of what Dusk had said, when Ceilidh responded herself before he could.

"Ah, you know what she said?"

"And I'm definitely one of those people." She said this matterafactly, not smug. Just stating fact. Like the sun is hot, she likes pink...

His question startles her briefly as it's a bit ... well... yes... Nodding she said, "Yup! It's my knack. I can understand and be understood by animals."

A beaming smile. Her attention returns to Dusk and raised her eyebrows curiously in waiting for an answer.
