[Yes, she did scan her starter with the Pokedex, and after a moment's thought was not surprised at all. As if to clarify her answer, Loki slowly rises up from the corner of the screen, peering at the boy with a kind of curious glee.] Just my luck, I guess.

Alright. Well, first of all, why are we here?

We are here so we can become Pokemon masters, of course! Our fake mom kicked us out of our fake house so that we can go on Pokemon journeys and make Pokemon friends. And probably some human friends too.

[John's considered the deeper implications of that question, but thinking about it too deeply is frustrating, so he's just going to be content with the Pokemon Master purpose for now.]

But why?

I have friends at home, and school, and - it's not as if I'm anyone special. [Not anymore, anyway. XANA is defeated, so she can afford to be away from home on that respect, but maintaining a normal life is kind of important if she wants to move on.] What's the point of thrusting people into an unfamiliar world and expecting them to play by its rules?
