_{[Maurice is sitting in a field propped against his sleepy Ryhorn and holding the Poke'Gear as carefully as he can. He's never used a phone this fancy before and he's afraid he might break it. It seems expensive. His worried face aside, it seems to be a positively peaceful scene out here on the route! It's evening. The sky is turning purple.]}

What do you do when it's night time and you're worried something might possibly eat you in your sleep? I mean...I saw a squirrel shoot a lightning bolt today. I don't think a bug tent is gonna do it. And Meatloaf here's just a baby.

[Frisk comes onto the feed apparently laying back against a bush, a little sleepy-eyed but not terribly so given the time of day. They aren't little, but a whole day of tromping through the woods is tiring even if you are used to it.]

I think it'll be okay. Y' jus' gotta make friends with 'em an' then they're real nice.

[The pokegear fizzles a bit before resolving into the face of a little girl. See icon above. She's holding a pokemon that looks a bit like some kind of bug except it's huge. When the picture is clear, she grins hugely at the older man.]

[ Natsu is trying not to laugh, but let's be honest, he's never been good at stopping this kind of thing. His charmander, Rascal, is peeking over his shoulder, sound asleep for once. ]

Sorry, man, that thing really doesn't look like a meatloaf. But anyway, you should be alright? I mean, there's a lotta people around who don't mind letting people stay the night. Meatloaf or whatever looks a lot scarier than this guy and I've never had any trouble.

[The pokegear fizzles awkwardly before rectifying. There's a young girl, no older than ten, on it, staring at the screen. Sideways. From what can be seen of her, she's wearing a swimsuit.]

[Mai calls through with a bright smile, wondering if the girl needed any help since the video seemed a little bit strange to start with.]

[ The footage opens on a shaky feed, close on a pouty charmander snout. There's disgruntled shouting in the background, something about "you little jerk" and "get back here" before the device is finally wrestled away from the ornery pokemon. ]

There!! Freakin' thief. Hey, guys, it's me!

[ Finally, the camera focuses on Natsu's face after a quick pan across the Goldenrod skyline. He's sporting a little burn mark on one cheek but smiling nonetheless; this weird lizard is going to be the death of him, but he's not about to give up on the little tyrant. ]

Anybody around, uh, Route 34 down for a match? If Rascal doesn't get a workout soon I feel like I'm gonna go crazy!

[ An indignant Char! pipes up from off-screen. ]

What the--hey! Put that down!

-Youmu smiles and lets out a small giggle from her end of the feed.-

-No comment on a match, mostly because Youmu is deathly afraid of her own Pokémon.-

-It's a little klunky, but after she opens PokéGear Connect and adjusts the camera toward herself, Youmu is sitting down against the Pokémon Center with her Trainer Handbook open.

She doesn't look at the camera but she does speak out toward it.-

Okay, so I believe I have things working right. Hello world... Or, well, anyone who can hear this.

-There's a grumble as she flips a few pages.-

I'm still tripping up on where exactly I'm supposed to go first. I'd rather not leave this town until I've gotten as much information as possible.

-Adorned in a Lass' outfit, Youmu looks up to the camera every now and again which allows you to see her bright red eyes and white hair along with the aforementioned attire. You'll also see a certain Pokémon floating behind her and reading over her shoulder.

If it even can read.-

I don't mean to trouble anyone listening, but if you could offer some help I would definitely appreciate it. ...Huh?

-With keen swordsman senses, Youmu jumps up from the crosslegged position she's in and ends up face to face with the Duskull. It closes it's eyes and tries to smile as much as it can, but Youmu is not so happy to see it.

In fact, as soon as they lock eyes her face turns blue and she ends up running away. For five minutes you'll see Youmu running from her own Pokémon unless you stop her. Eventually she climbs one of the trees in New Bark Town, which you can't see from the video feed alone but you can definitely hear her cries of help.

They're especially loud and especially frightened. The Duskull senses the bad vibes from it's Trainer and seems disheartened. You're able to see the Duskull, at the very least, looking extremely sad. It's almost heartbreaking, isn't it?-

[If Mafuyu had seen the whole chase sequence, she would have thought the two of them were playing tag and asked to join in. As such, when she comes across the Duskull floating around the base of the tree, her first instinct is to call out her own Pokemon to battle and catch it... until she hears the yelling.

With a Snubbull at her heels, Mafuyu approaches the tree, looking up to see a girl perched on one of the branches. She looks down at the Duskull. Back up.]

Huh.

[Usually it's the other way around, with a cat stuck in a tree and the owner crying for help from below. Shrugging, she jumps to grab one of the sturdy lower branches, and hauls herself up to where Youmu is.]

What's up? Did'ya lose something up here?

[The Pokémon does stop, but it doesn't look like he has any intention of giving the Gear back to his owner. Instead, he starts digging a hole to hide his trainer's precious thing. That's how it works, right? Thankfully, Sara catches up to him and takes back the device.]

Sheesh... Why did I name you after him? You don't have Lippy's manners at all...

[A communicator? Easy to figure out, even if the technology is definitely beyond what this pink-haired girl is used to at home. In this strange and unfamiliar place, it's her go-to for something comforting. The fact that a very angular Pokemon keeps trying to poke itself into the frame is, unfortunately, not helping.]

Hi, uh, excuse me, but I was wondering if -

[A trill of Poryyyyyy! cuts her off as a Porygon takes up the view. One of Aelita's hands gently pushes it down. You can see about half of her annoyed expression directed at the overzealous little thing.]

I was right in calling you Loki, wasn't I? [She glances back to the camera.] Um...anyway, I was wondering if anyone would like to...set up camp with me tonight? I'm a ways down Route...29? A ways down that still, but I don't really want to go back to that...weird town I woke up in? And I'd like some company other than - Oomph!

[Looks like, in its excitement, Loki the Porygon knocked the Pokegear out of its trainer's hand. Viewers are treated to one more trill of Porygo-goooon~ before its snout boops the video off. It's likely its trainer picked up her device by the time you answer, but...who asks for some company and doesn't even divulge their name? That's gotta be weird enough for you to at least ask her to clarify.]

[When the feed turns on, a young woman can be seen. She has long pink hair with a golden clip to help hold it in place, incredibly pale skin, and large blue eyes. The rest of her features seem pretty normal, though perhaps a little delicate. As for her clothing, it's a bit strange; a silver hoodie and yellow gloves with silver cuffs at the end.

For a few seconds she says nothing and merely bows her head in greeting. Afterwards, she gives a small smile and a slight wave.]

Hello. My name is Susie, executive assistant to President Haltmann of the Haltmann Works Company. After speaking with the locale, I've come to the conclusion that there is no known way out of this..."Johto Region". Therefore, it seems the best way to continue my work for the company is to simply set up a branch here. Of course, in order to complete this project, I will need a skilled team.

[Video communicators aren't much of a thing on Ivalice, as evidenced by Vaan here looking it with an eyebrow raised, tilting his head. His Sandshrew is on his shoulder, clinging to his new clothes that he is so not sure he likes. cloth is itchy! Sandshew is obviously a creature not meant to ride of shoulders given the size and weight, but he's trying!

And Vaan obviously doesn't mind since it's not like the thing is that heavy or that big, just a touch too big.]

So uh... anyone wanna give me a clue on what's going on here? I get I'm on some new world and this is the Johto Region. Apparently I'm a trainer and I gotta catch more of these things? Why? I'm a sky pirate, I'm not meant to... to do that sort of thing!

[Although having Sandshrew for a partner sounded pretty cool! He should name the thing...]

Uh, so, if anyone's out there from Ivalice, can you give me a call?

Vaan did say he was a Sky Pirate, after all. He mostly wanted to do some treasure hunting but after having been on the streets as a thief for a long time, he couldn't exactly keep his sticky fingers at bay.

Which is why he was walking right out of town with some extra cash and some little knick knacks that Sandy found shiny and wanted. The extra potion bottles would definitely come in handy, although he was pretty sure they weren't for him. He certainly hoped he didn't get hurt too badly in this new place with new monsters. He didn't have his weapons, his magicks, nothing!

Sandy looked like he was having the time of his life, though. He grinned as he put on the trainer's hat, something Vaan elected to give him as he didn't want anything on his head. Vaan had to admit, the critter was awfully cute for a fighting monster. But he knew not to judge a book by its cover, cute things could sometime pack a punch!

"Man, no one from Ivalice is here? This is just like the Conflict all over again."

He didn't like being so lucky as to be whisked off to new places like this. He liked Ivalice just fine, thank you very much!

There is a long pause as he pondered if he should even reply. Another Ivalician - but his accent was Dalmascan. Would they be against him? Or would they be simply ignorant?

[ His voice is dull, trying his hardest to hide his own accent. Who he may be. But it would still be quite clear - he was not good at altering his voice. ]

[Ignoring the weirdness that is...literally everything about this situation, Ienzo has another problem to try and solve.

Namely: why his little Ralts either ran crying from the room when he entered, ran crying to his knees when he entered, or otherwise seemed terribly emotionally unstable. It was worrisome and he was actually concerned for the little thing's health, which of course was yet another issue to be addressed at some point but after he figures out what's wrong with Ib.

They're sitting in a quieter corner of the park, Ienzo on the grass more or less level with his Ralts who is oddly clingy today. Ib seems reluctant to let go of Ienzo's arm no matter how hard he tries to get him to let go]

[Nope. The Ralts starts trying to climb up to his shoulder next. Ienzo sighs]

Which is why Ienzo and Ib will find themselves suddenly confronted by a small meinfoo wearing a bandanna around it's head, poised to fight with it's paws up and eyes narrowed--]

[Finally catching up, Cloud wastes no time in scooping the little thing up just as it goes to lunge at Ib, the blonde looking overly exasperated and apologetic all at once.]

[If you happen to be out and about near Route 29 for whatever reason, you may find one rather young looking woman standing around with her arms held out. A Snorunt rests in her hands, looking confused as she merely stands back at it blankly.]

[Letting out a sigh, Pram shakes her head and just sort of...pokes it? Eventually she gives it a look over.]

At least you seem pretty harmless. Fine, if you're so content to follow me around, then you can be my servant. Doesn't seem like any of my own followed me here.

If someone would have told Hanna that he'd be staring at Pidgeys outside his window today, he would have laughed at them. It was 2009 for god sake and he was outside, obviously that was never going to happen. But...strangely enough, here he was. And with a pokemon he hadn't ever seen before, but seemed to want to follow him anyways. She was cute, a little purple bat that was way cooler than any Zubat he had ever seen, and she was all his.

He grinned as the little thing settled on his shoulder, feeling like he should strike a pose when there was probably no one around to see it, and he did so, not even checking the surrounding area before puffing out his tiny chest, putting his hands on his hips and closing his eyes to take in a deep breath. The little Noibat did the same, tiny head held high, ears perked.

"We are going to kick some ass," He stated proudly, the little creature squeaked "Noi-Noi" in response, and he grinned, "Noi-Noi is right, Earhart. Noi-noi is fucking right."

[Hanna, who seems to be staring out into the vast expanse, or really just route 29, seems a little unsure, even if he was so confident before. He just...has a few questions.] So, after saying good bye to..uh...Mom, Um. You're just supposed to go out into the great unknown and live your little pokemon life, right? But...what about learning how to do laundry without a washing machine, and I mean, I've camped before, it's understandable if I die along the way, but what about Earhart?

Then the image blurs, and it's right side up again, focused on the back of a young lady. From the smoke in front of her, and the various fire-building implements around, it seems like she's setting up camp for the night - and is that a giant pot right next to her?]

Hm? [The girl turns, her most notable features being her bright eyes and buck teeth. Upon noticing the Audino, she smiles warmly.] Oh! Dinah, what did you want with my 'Gear?

Walter couldn't stop touching his neck and wrists. He was dead. He remembered, very clearly, freeing himself from his flesh years ago. But his neck was whole and unblemished, as if the skin had never been broken. A pulse fluttered in his wrists and, when he touched his chest, he could the beat of his heart. A breeze blew past him and he could feel it on his skin, not just feel how it pulled at his trench-coat and hair.

And there was the creature before him to consider too. The Cubone watched him quietly, letting him pick it up and turn it's limbs this way and that, with a firm but gentle touch.

Between inspecting his living body and his Cubone, he seems a little distracted.

[It's volunteer day at the breeding center-- because what's life without a little community service? Honestly, Peko isn't here for the volunteering, since she isn't sure the baby pokémon will let her anywhere near. But she Is close enough to watch, eyeing the newly hatched pokémon with a stare so intense it'd be easy to believe she's angry.

But if your character doesn't ant to drag her in on the fun, don't worry; a breeder employed by the center is quick to bring her over, mistaking her for a shier volunteer. It's then that Peko seems a bit distressed, speaking more hesitantly and with widened eyes.]

I...Wait, I don't think I should--

[She attempts in vain to dissuade the employee, but the breeder runs off to grab one of the babies for Peko to watch over, leaving the red-eyed teen stammering and looking around.

She can't just upset a baby pokémon in front of everyone oh gosh WHAT'S SHE GONNA DO]

[There's really only one conclusion someone can come up with when they see a red-eyed teenager holding a baby Pokemon and not absolutely falling in love with it. Concerned, Komasan can't help but approach from behind, a Leavanny following him who doesn't look nearly as worried. In fact, she smiles past the stranger and right at the baby. What a cute baby.]

[Because that's probably the opposite of what the breeders had in mind for today.]

Goldenrod is a big city. A huge city, even. It's bigger than New Home--bigger than probably the entire Underground. No wonder it's Team Rocket's base of operations. Take off the uniform and you immediately blend in. One of the hundreds--or is it thousands?!--of humans and Pokemon that call the city home (or at least a place to rest before heading onto the next town.)

In civilian clothes, Chara is just one of those trainers, two Pokeballs on their belt and an egg sticking out the top of a half-zipped backpack as they try to navigate Goldenrod with nothing but a rudimentary knowledge of basic landmarks and a map.

They're not really looking where they're going--or, well, they're TRYING to but it's really kind of difficult and they're really hungry right now and sO HELP THEM, IF YOU KNOCK THEM DOWN AND THE EGG CRACKS--

Frisk had just arrived in Goldenrod earlier that day, grinning and staring up and up and up at the buildings--it's been a long time since they last saw skyscrapers like these! Downtown Ebott City is pretty big, but Frisk's family doesn't go over there terribly often. Here, Frisk is so distracted by looking at the scenery (that's someone flying on a big Pidgey up there!) that they bump right into Chara while the other child is walking, squeaking and stumbling to the side a bit. The Houndour that had been trotting beside them barks and jumps to the side out of the way, and his smaller, much fatter brother simply yawns and resettles himself.

"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to--" Frisk's apology dies as soon as they lay eyes on who they just crashed into, and they very nearly can't breathe. That...that's a face they've only ever seen in pictures. A face they never thought they would see for real.

[The glowy box opens. The last thing Fiona remembers is standing next to Rhys, gazing into the blue light as it filled the entire Vault. She'd made it - against all impossible odds. Somehow she'd managed to break out of the shit town of Hollow Point and not only found a real Vault but had punched, shot, and sweet-talked her way into being the person to lay claim to the treasure inside. Sure, so what if Rhys was next to her. He wasn't so bad... sort of... as long as she didn't have to watch him make moon eyes at her sister any longer. Sash could take care of herself. There were more important things to worry about right now. Like shiny treasure, for one.

The blue light disappears. Instead of looking down on an awesome alien artifact, she finds herself standing on the side of a road surrounded by far more green than she's ever seen in her life. Something is on her back. She shrugs off a backpack, growing more irritated as time passes. She has a feeling someone set her up and she knows just who to blame.

She opens the pack to find a device that looks a lot like something Atlas would have built. The symbol on the back resembles Gortys and that makes her smile, a little. Still, it could all be a sick joke. It wouldn't be the first time she had been betrayed and she doubts it will be the last.

Fiona turns the device on and scowls down in to the screen.]

[Traveling's still a bitch. Ass-Gore isn't nearly big enough to ride, and Mafuyu has yet to make with the fire horse he's been asking for for months. This? This is why he doesn't do eggs. It takes too damn long.]

[So he's stuck with his bicycle. And while it's a sleek, bright yellow and black model, top of the line...it's still a bicycle. There's a friggin' basket on the handles. That's currently filled with an alarming amount of fat houndour puppy. Cattrap may be able to run alongside, but Doom Boner barely understands the concept of 'running'.]

[But none of that matters right now. Jack sees the woman as he crests a rise, traveling along the road ahead.]

[That? That's a hot chick. With an awesome hat. Now that is a sight to see. There aren't near enough women around here. Wow, that's a nice hat. She's cute. And that style...that's familiar. She looks like she could have stepped right off of an Eden transport.]

[While he's not dressed in his trademark outfit, it's his yellow Hyperion shirt he's wearing under a brown button down. And of course, his mask is fixed in place, as it always is when other people can see him. If she is another transplant from his corner of the galaxy, she'll recognize him. And probably swoon. Like the ladies do.]

[He coasts down the hill and pulls the bike up in a dramatic skid on the dirt road beside her, grinning already.]

Well this beautiful day just got a whole lot more beautiful....waitaminute...

[This is the third or fourth time the tiny bear of a man has walked up and down this New Bark Town street, switching off between scratching his head at the map on his PokeGear and stopping passers-by to figure out where he is, whose stuff he has, and what exactly is going on. He only decides on a small break after drilling fifty people who can't help him and probably think he's a little bit more than directionally lost.

A lone bench is as good a place as any for him to plop down, set aside the backpack he got saddled with, and attempt to resume scouring his map for any clues on how to get home.

It's a bit hard, however, to ignore an intent stare from the Riolu standing just over the top of his screen. Vaughn blinks back at the bipedal creature that won't go away for a few seconds, decides he's been on this planet for too long, and begins to question whether he's finally making the subconscious transition to run-of-the-mill Psycho.]

I knew I shouldn't have let Yvette convince me to drink Pandoran toilet wine.

The mom part was fucking bizarre. She was super nice and packed me a bag and lunch. But then she locked me out of the house. And packed me really impractical clothing. Is that normal maternal behavior?
