...How do you know of that name.

Wh-What do you mean? Of course I know your name. You don't... [There wasn't a trace of recognition on Basch's face though. His grin falls completely.] You don't remember me?

[ He lets out a small grunt. His mind was still racing, however - could this boy be a spy? Or could he be one of those people he heard of, from the future... or past?
This was confusing. ]
But you know of me.

[Vaan finally took a moment to get a good look at Basch. His hair was long again, although tied back. He looked the same, for the most part. Basch wasn't suppose to have long hair though, he only did back when--]
You never left the dungeon, did you?

...I have heard... those can come from both past and future to this land. You are from a future not passed - one where I... am freed?
[ There's the slightest sound of hope in his voice. ]

It was honestly kind of an accident, but one I don't regret or anything like that. My friends and I were sent there too and during our escape, we found you. I was... Well, I pretty angry at you at the time and caused too much commotion. So to make sure we didn't get caught, we dropped the cage and you'd joined our party ever since.
My brother, Reks, was with you when you were framed, he didn't know your brother had switched places with you.
[Which is why Vaan had been so angry]
He never knew and died never knowing. But I do, that's what matters.

So he's the brother of... his heart was aching for some reason before, and now he knows why. But if this child speaks as he does...
His voice is quiet, as he has begun to move as well. Slowly. But away from where people might overhear. ]
I'm sorry.
[ He had to say it. Even if it were the past. But there's the slighest look of relief on his face. ]
...But thank you, Sky Pirate. For... my future. [ A bit of a pause. ] ...We are the only two of Ivalice.

[He lost a lot because of the war, after all. But he figured he came out okay in the end.]
The name's Vaan, by the way.
[So no one else, huh? That made things interesting.]
no subject
[ Because he felt he needed to hide. But he gives an approving look. ]
...The next town is three days. Your ally shall fight for you.

[He's a bit put off by this, pouting even. Not that he doubts Sandy, but he fought his own battles. He sighed.]
So what's this other name you're using? Do you want me to use it to?
no subject
[ (Basch is uncreative sometimes.)
He paused (why were there no Teleport Stones or the Warp Pad replacements in New Bark Town?! He had to ask if Ashe were safe, but he could not simply broadcast that question), before deciding to add: ] Our weapons are not here - nor any magicks or technicks you may have learned.

[He grinned and pushed off the tree. Sandy took his place back onto Vaan's shoulder and the pirate nodded]
Then I guess I got a three day journey ahead of me. Where will I find you?
