[It's only as he elaborates on the sacraments themselves that she's able to throw a proverbial blanket over her brain like one must do to quiet a screaming bird, and the brief look of surprise turns to a deliberate sneer.]}

It was working. [ His demeanour doesn't change but there's a cold firmness. After having it be drilled into you, repeatedly beaten if you didn't recite it perfectly...punishment and cruelty is one way to inspire faith. ] What I was taught was true; humanity is a cesspool of hatred and sin.

I was following the ritual perfectly. I had Ascended beyond the flesh. My worlds were fully formed. My Sacraments were the perfect choices.

[She knows good and well that if it hadn't been for Dahlia's own decision that Alessa's loyalty was no longer something she needed to concern herself with keeping, she might have gone on to be just like Walter. Or Claudia. Or any other cult kid whittled into a weapon over the years.]

But...you are right. I'm alive. If I was to complete the 21 Sacraments, I would need to start again. And I could not find another Mother Reborn, or Receiver of Wisdom. [ His Sacraments had been too perfect to just replace. All of them in truth - Gloom, Despair, Source, Temptation. He couldn't pick at random and find the perfect fit. There's also the ritual components such as the White Oil to consider. ]

...Why are we here? Must this world be purified as well, before I can awaken Mother? [ For a moment, he sounds like a lost, confused boy. ]

_{[Deep down, under the kind of controlled panic she's been operating under ever since Walter's identity dropped, there's the slightest tug at her heartstrings.]

It's not Paradise, and it's anyone's guess as to what we're here for.

But if you want my theory, it's so that we can avoid making the same mistakes we did before.

Maybe not. But there will be another way to purge the sins of humanity. And Mother... [ His hands tighten on his Cubone again, who wiggles violently. But then he loosens his grip, holding the Pokemon to his chest like it was a soft toy. He doesn't know what to do about her. She's not here at all, not just sleeping far away and blocked from him by people in other apartments. ]

_{[That gaze makes the hairs on the back of her neck all want to stand on end, but she doesn't break eye contact. Cultists are like freaking dogs. THEY CAN SENSE FEAR.]}

Well. Maybe there will and maybe there won't.

[ He knows that look. That's the look Henry had when facing some of the monsters in his worlds. His gaze relaxes into a smile. ]

I will find a way. Then I can return and heal the other world. Both worlds will know Paradise.

_{[Aaaaand the jig is up.]

[Heather's eyes narrow.]}

_{[She almost adds a "We'll stop you", but well, considering this is DEFINITELY the guy who was trying to murder Henry, she'd rather not tip him off that his Receiver is here, too.]

My people. [ Congratulations, there's a hint of surprise on his face. Had she - no if she was - she wasn't part of the Order. She was like Joseph, an outsider. She must have fought with Dahlia. But again, she looks younger than himself when he had been alive. Then that smile is back. ]

[Now that she's not maintaining a facade, there's something a little more steadfast and solid in her stance, even just the shoulders visible in the PokeGear screen's limited view. Her jaw is set, and it doesn't weaken at his smile.]}

[ He thought back and shook his head ] I was taught of St. Alessa. How a man intervened and prevented the birth of God.

Even if I do not cleanse this world, it doesn't matter. It is the awakening of Mother that matters most. [ But cleansing this world will presumably make her happy, won't it? ]

_{[And there's the namedrop.]

[She folds her arms, cocking her head to the side a little bit. Now it's her turn to smile! It's not a particularly mirthful one, but there is a hint of morbid anticipation in there. This whole weirdass conversation appeals to the darker side of Heather's humor. Which, after everything she'd gone through in Silent Hill, is kind of most of it.]}

Okay, so you know about Alessa and that whole debacle. Not too surprising, I'm guessing it's kind of required reading for the Order.

But do you know who you're talking to, right now?

[ He blinks politely. Was she really trying to suggest she was Alessa...? He didn't know what happened after the attempted birth of God. Only that a man intervened. ]

I don't know. Are you a priestess of the Holy Mother sect?

_{[She doesn't blink, and her stare isn't polite at all.]}

I'm Alessa Gillespie and the best thing I ever did for this world was put Dahlia's lying, power-hungry tongue out of commission for good.

And if you try to continue her work here, I'll make sure it goes exactly where she did: nowhere.

[ He tilts his head, clearly thinking. She doesn't look like the pictures of Alessa he's seen. And all he knew was that she had vanished, so they taught him the ritual to awaken his Mother and open the doors to Paradise. It might be possible for her to be Alessa but he honestly wouldn't be able to tell. He hums softly. ]

I will do what I must to please Mother and awaken her. [ At the end, that's all that matters. ]
