[Oh, now you've done it.

Chara's red eyes narrow into angry slits, their arms still wrapped protectively around the fattest part of their egg.
]

So is a fire hydrant. Were you going to run into that, too? 'Cause I'd like to see that.

[It might be noted that buying this egg cost Chara every last penny they own.]

If a fire hydrant was moving down the middle of the sidewalk then yeah I might. Otherwise, they're always over there.

[Sophie gestures to the curb. You don't want to play this game with her Chara, she was kicked off the debate team for breaking too many metaphors and one desk.]

...

[No.

It's Sophie who doesn't want to play this game with Chara.

Because instead of anger, their round face now sports a wide smile. And instead of cold-eyed bitterness--
]

Oh! Then I guess you don't mind stepping on little Pokemon, either. But if you're big enough, it doesn't matter, right? You can walk anywhere! You can just step on anyone who gets in your way.
detonarrator: (so i killed him)

[Sophie has never seen a hill she is not willing to die on. Including apparently defending her actions of knocking over a child on the sidewalk.

Sophie rolls her eyes and crosses her arms and gives an exasperated huff. Going for a gut punch huh? Well she can go for a low blow too. She looks down her nose at Chara.

jfc sophie you are the "adult" here god damn it
]

Pokemon in the city have people looking after them so they wouldn't get stepped on. Just like kids have parents to look after them.

[She looks up, first to Chara's left, then to their right.]

Well...most kids.

Fuck you, Sophie Welman.

[Oh!

Chara's head drops. Their round face is hidden by long straight red-brown hair.

For a moment, one might think that Sophie's words had hurt.

They bend down, hooking one sneakered foot around the strap of their backpack so they can tuck their egg safely into its cradle. Then they straighten up.

Chara's smile doesn't shrink even the slightest.
]

But I'm not alone.

[And with that, they slam down a Pokeball, its enamelled exterior hitting the pavement with a crack like a snapping rib.

Out of it emerges an uncoiling nine-foot length of solid muscle, all black and purple and gold scales, glistening in the summer sun.

It rises from the concrete and bares its foot-long crimson fangs ion a vicious hiss, inches from Sophie's face.
]

Are you?

[=)]

I was going to say 'she's the worst' but we both know that's Technically not true.

[The sudden hissing Pokemon gets a flinch, an automatic response, but she doesn't step back or away. Her hand goes to her belt, where she unclips a Pokeball of her own, but her hand moves slowly. She holds it up for a moment, but hesitates.]

Yeah I've got a Pokemon.

[She's a mankey, not a great match for fighting this seviper, but that's not what's bothering her. It's a nagging feeling, one that's been itching just under her skin since she first started exploring this world. Now, face to face with her first Pokemon battle, the feeling crystallizes and she understands it. She puts the Pokeball back on her belt.]

But I'm not about to let my Pokemon, or yours, get beat up just because I hurt your feelings.
hereweare: (Greetings!)

Shhhhhh, this is a children's game

[personal profile] hereweare 2016-07-24 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, you're funny.]

You don't get to pull the 'mature adult' card now.

You knocked down a little kid, blamed them for it, and then you made fun of them for having no parents...

But it's the kid's fault for being upset at you.

[You have Pokemon. Chara can see the ball on your belt.]

You think you are above consequences.

[The Seviper has already slithered around Sophie's feet, forming a double ring of venomous tail and fangs. She's a little confused, to be honest. Where is the other Pokemon? Chara sent her out... but there's no fight?

This is the other trainer....

Where's the Pokemon?
]

People like you make me sick.

detonarrator: hit by a car (feed off me)

>_> casually retcons that mankey into a primeape

[personal profile] detonarrator 2016-07-26 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
[Well when you put it that way....yeah Sophie feels kind of bad. She's got this problem where she doesn't ever fucking think about anything she does before she does it. It's not that she thinks she's ABOVE consequences, she just assumes things can't get worse. She's wrong like 90% of the time. Remember how I mentioned she got shot in the head once? Anyway now she's in something of a bind.

She does feel bad. The kid's right, partially. But that still doesn't mean she wants to get innocent pokemon hurt because she's an idiot and this child is apparently a rage volcano. (Pot, meet kettle.) Sticking to her guns about not sending out her primeape makes it seem like she's defending all her other actions too. And okay, to be honest she still thinks that yelling at the kid that bumped into her, and then the sniping banter was...not the right thing but also relatively harmless. The parents thing was definitely over the line though. And she should apologize for it.

Uuuuuuugh.

The kid wouldn't believe her though, it's not gonna sound genuine. She's not great at expressing most emotions, and 'remorse' is so far out of her wheelhouse it's embarrassing. So she can't send out her pokemon because of Principles, but she can't NOT send out her pokemon because the kid's kinda right. This isn't really a problem she can scream or punch her way out of so she has basically no idea what to do.

So she just stands there glaring at her own Pokeball in silence. Congratulations Chara, you've done something very impressive. She's speechless.
