Ah, Armin. Ash sees Armin very much like a younger brother. He wants to show him everything to see his reaction to it all, and to encourage his interests. He knows Armin's more..proper than him, and more intellectual, but that just means he's gonna sit with Armin and ask all about water type Pokemon, and tell him the stories he has from home about the sea.

He knows he'll never fully understand where Armin's come from; it's just, unimaginable for him in a way and even so, he'd refuse to believe that putting kids into the army is in any way an acceptable solution. So in a way, he's just. Trying to let Armin really experience life in a way that, Ash feels, he should have been able to.

Ohhh, you're my best friend~

Ash loves Noctis. He's an awesome guy, a great friend and even though they're worlds apart in many ways, that all seems to fade into the background when they're hanging out together. While it sometimes comes up, he doesn't want it to bother him. And while they do muck around a lot, there's a genuine connection there. He'd tell Noctis about more serious things that bug him, when they come up.

Her pupils and her best friends! She's so happy that they picked her up when she wasn't feeling so charged. And they're so strong! So fierce! They always were in her eyes. And together, they're gonna be legends!

You will once Ash teaches Bert how to flirt (RHYMES 8D)

Ash has definitely decided that Bert is his brother. Much like with Armin, he'll never be able to really just...accept him being a child soldier is or was ever okay. So he wants to introduce Bert to everything and to show him good times. He wants to see how Bert takes in the world and encourage him to get out there and experience it all!

And as Bert is out to him, he's protective of him in that sense too. If anyone gave him shit he would be there, in their face, asking if they want a full out fight. He's protective of all the AoT crew but Bert's got a special place in Ash's 'I'll punch in your honour' List. Partly cos he does seem so shy compared to Jean and Armin. None of them are crazy party animals but Bert's definitely the shyest in Ash's eyes.

In a way, Jinx reminds him of some of the kids he grew up around; fellow rough-around-the-edges kids who are pretty much getting by in the world. While he doesn't know how deep she is into that, talking with her has made him realise she's definitely a 'grey' on the moral scale, as he is. As such he can respect her that much but they clearly have differing views on certain things. Which is fine! Not everyone's gonna be the same of course.

And of course, he's got no idea what else she gets up to. But he loves comparing luck stories with her and views her as a good friend to call up and shoot the breeze with from time to time!

Another of Ash's AoT bros! He definitely thinks Jean has the most fire out of them, given the other two are Bert and Armin. He's brash, self assured and he's got balls (so many balls). ...Doesn't stop him being as 'less everyday-life experienced' as the others though and Ash loves seeing his reactions to new things and to see him enjoy all the little things life has to offer.

And he knows Jean's got that caring side to his nature as well. He's seen in how Jean protected and cared for the Electrodes after Prom, how he cares for his Pokemon and he's seen it in how Jean asked him to keep an eye on Armin while they were in Seafoam. And even though he's complained and called Temposhark names...he still saved her in Mt. Mortar. So while he's tough, he's still a good / sensitive kind of guy. Not to say that his toughness is a facade, he's been through tough shit to build that up, but it's not all he is either.
