[He scream, but he doesn't drop the PokeGear this time.]
Somebody else's voice is comin' from my mallet!
[He leans in real close to peer at her little image in the screen. Reeeally close. Uncomfortably close.]
Are you talkin' to me through this videomajig, too?
[The sarcasm doesn't seem to slow him down, even for a second. On the contrary, he just seems excited.]

[Said with perfect seriousness.]
I think you'll find that the mallets here are rather more technologically advanced than those you're used to.

At first I thought you fellers had gotten shrinkumified and trapped inside of there, so I tried to break you out with my teeth!
[Maybe that's why he has so few?
No. The teeth McGucket has left are survivors, hardened by battle, veterans of indescribable horror. They're going nowhere. They will probably outlive us all.]
But now I know it's more like a radio you can see with!
....stiiiill could be better at hammerin' tent pegs, but no gizmo's perfect!

[She is almost certain that is not how teeth work, but then she is neither
usuallyhuman nor is she a hillbilly from Backwater, US.]Indeed not. Though I'm sure an inquiring mind like yours could find ways to improve it.

How come nobody thought of radio mallets before?

Hold onto your banjo, li'l lady, ol' McGucket's about to make some improvemifications!
[And he'll set to work....disassembling the Pokegear. Right here, in the road, with a very limited number of tools. But when has that ever stopped him?]
no subject
[And just. Mentally counting the time until something breaks and the transmission cuts out. Cause that's clearly what's going to happen, right?]
[She's currently banking on under thirty seconds, sorry Fidds.]

She won't see it transform into a small robot that will hammer his makeshift tent pegs in for him. She won't hear from his PokeGear for about a day, actually. The next morning, though, the connection restarts, and McGucket's grinning at the camera.]
Well butter my boots and call me a biscuit, I forgot to reconnect the videophone! I used some of the components for a gyroscope, so it took some fiddlemajigging to make sure my new tent-peg-hammerin' robot would stay on his robot legs while I was usin' it!
G'mornin!
