[Matt can't help a huge grin. Kerberos seems to catch his enthusiasm, and does another ice beam that makes one of the Rockets' Pokémon faint. The Spheal's trainer grins widely.]

Good job, Kerberos. Now let's take out these goons so that we can talk.

[shiro2hero]

[He is, honestly, frozen in place. Just staring at him. Like he's seeing a ghost.]

[But who else would name a Spheal that?]

Y... yeah. Europa, an Encore until they're done with.

[It isn't long before the two Spheals have finished off the Rockets' pokemon, and, after giving out some pokedollars, they run off, grumbling.]

[Kerberos grins, then rolls back to stand at Matt's side. Matt turns to Shiro and grins.]

Thanks. I don't think I could have taken them down myself. It's... good to see you again.

[He's still standing there, stunned and frozen in one spot. Even while Europa literally rolls into his legs, barking and nudging his shins. Didn't she do good! Aren't you proud of her?]

How long... how long have you been here?

[Because the last time he'd seen Matt had been in significantly more dire circumstances. The arena kind.]

[Matt blinks a few times. But... he just saw Shiro not long ago, at the Castle. Putting that aside, he shrugs a bit.]

Um. Few weeks? Enough to become rather fond of Kerberos over there and at least somewhat get my feet under me. I'm somewhat hoping to find a bunch of researchers and see if they need another hand.

[shiro2hero]

[A few weeks.]

[He could have known for a few weeks now. How did he miss this? He takes a step forward, hesitant, and Europa rolls out of the way, her ears lowering in concern.]

I -- I thought I'd never see you again.

Shiro... You will. Or, well, you did. Pidge found me and brought me back to the Castle.

[He takes a few more steps towards Shiro, and holds out a hand.]

I've missed you so very much too. They did tell us all you were dead. Guess they just didn't want to admit they lost the Champion.

[He takes a breath, suddenly hesitant.]

Are... well, ok, you're not alright, but how are you doing now?

[shiro2hero]

You...

[He has to shake his head a little. Reaching down for a moment to bury his fingers in Europa's fur to assure her, yes, he's fine.] Of course. Of course she did.

[When he looks back up, there's an extended hand. And a question. And...]

[And he's going to take that hand. Pull him in and wrap his arms around him.]

I'm... I'm doing great. [Now he is, anyway.]

[Matt's startled for a moment as Shiro pulls him in, but it doesn't take long before he relaxes into Shiro's arms, returning the hug tightly.]

I'm glad, Shiro. And... I'm glad we found each other again. It's so good to have someone else here that I know.

[shiro2hero]

[It feels like months since he's actually hugged someone like this. Maybe because it has. But, more importantly?]

[He's hugging someone he never thought he'd be able to again.]

You know -- You know I'm never letting you out of my sight now. Right?

[It's as if everything is falling into place again. He knows that he has Shiro back at home, but somehow here, without the war, without worrying about everything, it's a chance he never thought he'd have. A smile crosses his face, and he laughs just a bit.]

Well, I do need a place to live, and, well... I don't think I want to leave your side.

[shiro2hero]

Then -- then you're coming with us. You'll stay with us.

[He knows he won't have to ask the others. Jean and Armin already know about Matt. They know how much this would mean...]

[God though, he never thought he'd hear that laugh again.]
