[He knows this Elezen. Not personally, no, but he's not such a fool to keep his head under a rock when it comes to the nobility of Ishgard—or the ill-born among them. Especially one who fell...

He's not of the Temple Knights, not exactly. A knight of a house is at least a step in the right direction, even a dead one. Anything is better than a Temple Knight, as far as Sidurgu cares.]

I can scarce claim to being a gourmand, but the flavors and food here are passing strange...

[He's more used to the blander foods that those of the brume had little choice in surviving off of. What money he acquired, was likely from the dead knights he executed, and he spent majority of his time in the Forgotten Knight—not exactly a luxury establishment...]

I am sure one of your standing is more familiar with varied and unique flavors.

[In other words, he has no help to give really. Get used to the weird food, pal.]

[Haurchefant is much better than most who come from Ishgard. His views are surprisingly quite different to the norm.]

They are quite strange to me! Bizarre! I would not say they are not wonderful though. It would be insulting to turn my nose up at something that is merely different to what I'm used to! Adventurers that went through my post had also brought many things that my home had become devoid of. I was very happy to see what a new face brought for the short time they may have been there. This is not so different to that.

[He has been graced to live a mostly comfortable life and eat comfortably, but he also knows the hardships while keeping at his post in Dragonhead. There have been plenty of times where supplies were scarce and one had to make do with what they had. Those hardships only strengthen his shield and resolve though.]

One of my standing, is it? I hope that it is not presumptuous of me to assume that you know of me then?

[He can only think that a statement like that is a bit odd to speak to a complete stranger if the other didn't know him at all.]

Mmm.

[He will admit that some of the food is rather delicious—alright, no, down right delicious. However, to a palate not trained in diverse flavors it was all very overwhelming, and he found some of the sweeter things inherently disgusting.

To the question, however, he gives a shallow nod.]

Aye. Ser Haurchefant of Dragonhead, right? I cannot say I'm greatly familiar, but one who would stay in Ishgard would be hard pressed to know not the names and faces of the garrison commanders.

[Or, you know, someone who wants to play medieval Batman would benefit from knowing who was in charge of what while hiding behing enemy lines.]

Wonderful! Wonderful! I did not expect to meet someone who comes from the very same star. Stranger or not, some familiarity is welcomed in such an odd situation we already find ourselves in. [Maybe he can convince the other to try foods with him. Like pizza. He wants to try it.]

I suppose my reputation precedes me a bit, but I know of some who would be happier to not know my name or my face. [He just laughs at this though.] But please we need not be so formal. I am no commander here and this is no Dragonhead. You may just call me Haurchefant! It is a pleasure to meet your acquaintance. I hope you will let me know your name?

[This is how friendships start, Sidurgu. Be prepared.]

We are rare in this world, I will give you that.

[Though, so long as more Ishgardians aren't coming here, Sidurgu would be fine to stake it out here alone.]

Sidurgu.

[He offers bluntly. Not a shred of friendliness within his voice, nor expression.]

I had heard rumor that the commander of Dragonhead was unlike most Ishgardians, interesting to see the proof holds when put to the test.

[That's a compliment. A Sidurgu compliment.]

Unfortunate. I suppose that I will grow homesick quite quickly.

[Not that it would matter. He knows very well that he has nothing to return to. It does leave a bit of an ache in his heart that he won't see his family one more time, but that's just how his cards were dealt.] Ah, but I can't lament on such things. I will just have to make the best of an odd situation.

A pleasure!

[Haurchefant has friendliness in spades. He will make up for what Sidurgu lacks.]

It would do me no good to adopt the same views that my nation holds. I see many an adventurer that goes through that fortitude. I would be no host if I were not hospitable when one is weary of travel in the cold! [He is still proud to be from Ishgard, but he knows that the views there are something he cannot agree with.] I am sure that it will change in due time! There are those that wish to change those views and I would put my life down for them to see it happen!

[Oh wait-]

I cannot say I share the same sentiment. Ishgard may be mine home, but little do I miss it.

[In a way... While Sidurgu finds this place annoying at the best of times, he can't deny that the peacefulness of it is in ways enjoyable. He only wishes that Rielle could be here with him to relax in such a peaceful realm...]

Rare are Ishgardians who wish to be humble hosts to those they see beneath them, and rarer still are those who would entertain the mind of change. However, it would seem your sentiment did not go without its effects.

[Yeah bro, he knows you laid your life down, and that you had a bit of a hand in the change Ishgard has been weathering. Though, his deeds are not quite as recognized as that of Ser Aymeric and the Warrior of Light, but between the Warrior of Light's association with him, and perhaps Haurchefant's own drunkard of a half-brother, with lips just as loose as they are tightly locked with a tankard of ale—well, word spreads fast to those with the ears to hear them.]

I do not fault you one bit for feeling that way. I am very fortunate to live a comfortable life as I do at home. The same could not be said for most.

[He isn't ignorant to the stark differences between the rich and the poor. It's not something he witnesses too often given his station keeping him out of Ishgard's walls for long periods of time. One does not simply forget the suffering of the poor though.]

House Fortemps has always been a bit odd in its views, I suppose. It would be rather cumbersome to fill our ranks if we were not to seek help outside of our own men. We were already pressed for men given the increasing attacks from dravanian forces. Some of my best men are sellswords and those that are not loyal to my house and adventurers have been nothing but helpful when we required aid.

[Haurchefant's expression seems to soften at Sidurgu's comment. There's an almost tired quality to it. He immediately perks up though.] Splendid! Splendid! What joyous news to hear. I am almost jealous I will not get to see it with my very own eyes. [Either because he's here currently or because he won't live to see that day and knows it.]

[Sidurgu is quiet for a moment, giving Haurchefant a look over as if he were appraising him in a fashion. To which he was.

With an indignant scoff, he lets his eyes fall away from the feed of the camera.]

If more men saw the world through your eyes, a great deal of strife would not be suffered as long as it has.

[Haurchefant's reaction isn't unexpected, but it's a little sad. Here is a man who understands the struggles of those who have worse fates than him, and is probably a great deal responsible for the shift Ishgard was allowed to experience, yet he's been laid to rest, and gets to witness none of the change he had a hand in.

The fates are cruel, and perhaps the gods even more so.]

Right, then. That is neither here nor there, so I find it pointless to waste more time than what's necessary on such matters, particularly when we aren't even there.

In an ideal world; we would be at peace. Unfortunately, that is not the case. It just means that we must strive to get as close to it as possible.

[He isn't naive to think that pretty thoughts will change things either. Actions speak louder than words.

It's probably sad, but it doesn't seem to be something that the other is going get down over. If he were given a choice to die at that moment; he would take death over and over. The idea of harm coming to them...he wouldn't forgive himself for not trying.
]

Apologies! You will have to forgive me. It seems like you are more knowledgeable of what I know and I couldn't help but be a tad curious. It isn't very on topic to what I was originally discussing, is it?
