[That's... unusual. To say the least. And concerning. Enough to where Luna pokes her little Meowth face on screen. Where are the sads?? Show her! Let her fix this!]

[He just sounds exhausted and a little resigned to this. Whatever 'this' is.]

[He doesn't know Hunk, but he's heard the name Pidge sometimes and he knows Matt. That's fairly easy to put together. His shoulders sort of slump and he tries to breathe again.]

Where are we?

Yeah -- I couldn't believe it either. But he's here. He's all right.

[Since clearly that's the problem here.]

We're in a place called Jhoto -- one of the continents on this world. Look around for a second. See if there's anything... following you.

[Maybe at some point he'll get to the actual problem: the fact they're supposed to be dead on Kerberos. Unless this is Kerberos. Somehow. Did he get heat stroke? Dehydration? Something?

He looks around, picks his feet up to make sure nothings around his ankles but shakes his head.]

No, nothing following me. Just a bag of stuff and shoved out the door.

What about a ball? Red and white?

[He's trying to peer through the screen. Along with his Meowth, who's climbed up on his shoulder for a better view.]

Oh. Uh.

[He looks to his other hand not holding the pokedex and nods.]

Definitely got one of those. What about it?

Give it a toss. See what comes out when it hits the ground.

[And we're just going to hope it's something small and not... a Steelix or one of Armin's whales.]

[Yeah, and then he has to go pick it up. But Shiro's never led him wrong in the few years he's know him. So Keith gives it a little toss, blinking when there's a light and it opens and .... a little black and orange kitten is there.]

Uh. Shiro? Shiro? [He turns the camera to it, crying out for Keith because finally!! It's out of the ball!]

Yeah. Just toss. You don't have to chuck it...

[Just toss. Like that.]

[He'll wait. And break out in one smug ass grin once the Litten shows up. Luna, the Meowth, perks up again, pawing at the screen and chirping. HELLO FRIEND HELLO!!]

I'm not even a little surprised that's what you got. Don't worry. It's normal.

My... partner.

[He's staring at it, even as it moves to him and starts trying to climb up his pant leg. He helps it up to sit on his lap and looks back to the communicator, hearing little chirps and Shiro you got a thing on you.]

I get it. I fell asleep in the shack and I'm just doing that lucid dreaming thing.

Your partner. This world... it's full of animals like that. That's one of them. This is another.

[Yes, he does have a thing on him. His therapy cat. There's another thing looming behind him. It's... big.]

[Because surely Keith can't mean his weird desert hobo hut. Right?]

[If this is all a dream, it doesn't matter right? He pets along the litten's spine, listening to it purr and he sighs.]

The only shack in the desert?

[It's just a dream so he doesn't have to worry about not having his knife. It's fine. It'll be there when he wakes up.]

Why... would you be asleep there?

[Is this a joke? This is a joke, right? Keith's trying to be funny.]

[Hunk said he'd been trying that lately.]

[Oh. Shit he has to. Be honest here. Shiro might actually get mad at him.]

Because I don't sleep at the Garrison anymore? After. Being kicked out.

Yeah...? I know that. None of us do. But why would you be there and not... on the Castle?

[Wait. Hold on. So he knew Keith wasn't part of the Garrison anymore. He figured he'd dropped out -- but everything had been so hazy and complicated that day, it hadn't really sunk in.]

[The litten on his lap jumps a little at the tone coming through the dex. Keith himself even winces a little. Yeah, that was coming.]

Kicked out. A [he uses one hand to make air quotes] 'Disciplinary issue' after you left on the mission.

[He doesn't look all that proud of it either. He looks down at the litten instead.] It's been almost a year.

You -- why didn't you tell me!

[He'll calm down in a moment. Just let him have this... moment. In a second, he'll know there wasn't time for that. There wasn't the time or the place, and so many more important things needed to happen.]

[He pushes a hand through his hair, exhaling.]

Never mind. Don't... answer that. It's done with.

I'm sorry.

[Man this is a weird dream.]

Don't be. This isn't real anyway, right?

[Even with how warm that animal is against him and how hungry he's starting to feel, he'll still firmly posit this is a dream and nothing else.]

Where are you guys? I'll come to you.

No, I should be. I shouldn't snap at you like that. We can... we can talk about it when we get you here.

[And, you know, prove he's awake. Maybe Haunter can help with that one.]

We're out in the Sevii Islands. It's -- a ways away from where you ended up. So it might be a few days.

You should head north -- toward Cherrygrove. There's a place you can stay there.

[Yeah, okay, these are dumb names. He looks down to the litten and start of makes to stand, keeping it held in one arm. It's so small.]

What do I do about it? It's -- They don't let animals in hotels right? [That's something he sort of remembers from when he was a kid. Hotels not being pet friendly.

But he's clearly attached already. Dream or not, it's cute. And it's small and needs protecting.]

They do, here. The place in Cherrygrove is called a "Pokemon Center". It's open to people and their partners.

[Is he carrying litten because he's attached? Or because he doesn't know how to get it back in that ball? Why not both.]
