Can ghosts here possess people? I've apparently got a giant stone that apparently has over 100 spirits trapped in it and I don't trust them not to try anything if they can.

Also, less dire question. Do they sell hair dye here? Preferably blue

[The camera of the Pokegear shows the start of Route 29, somewhat shaky, until the girl holding the Pokegear finally figures out how to get it to work.]

...Haven't had a cell phone in a long time. This thing should be on now.

[She doesn't stay in the camera frame long, pointing the Gear at a Rhyhorn who's sniffing the ground curiously. Madeline finally manages to speak up after a moment of silence.]

So...Does anyone else find this place weird? Pokemon are just part of a video game where I'm from, so waking up and finding this big guy staring at me wasn't exactly something I planned for.

[Rhyhorn snuffs, looking at Madeline who's hiding behind the gear camera. He's real and not fictional, thank you very much.]

While I've got this thing running: are there any good places to visit? Any good climbing spots? I guess if I'm stuck here, I should see the world... [She turns off the gear after that.]

[Madeline can be found on any route, trying to rush towards a large tree or body of land, attempting to climb onto it. Clearly the world doesn't want her doing this, even if she has experience climbing, as she slides and falls back to the ground.]

...Guess I don't have any powers here.

[Rhyhorn watches, but every time Madeline fails, he walks over to her and nudges her lightly with his horn.]

At least I have you here, Rhyhorn. [She manages a smile and pats the Rock Pokemon gently on his scaled back.]

i'm not too sure...i've met a ghost before, but it was a friendly one. maybe the ones trapped inside are friendly? i just got here so i don't know where a good store is. someone on the route i was traveling on mentioned trying to get to Goldenrod? i guess that's a major city to check out...

Well apparently these ones were trapped in the ...keystone or whatever because they were causing so much trouble. So I'm really not holding my breath for a friendly spirit. Besides, if they've been trapped there for a while they might have lost their...sense of self.
If that makes any sense.

that's kinda creepy. just make sure it doesn't break, since the spirits getting out could be a bad thing. where did you get a stone that has spirits trapped inside of it? oh. i was climbing a mountain back home and stumbled upon an old hotel. i met a ghost there who used to run the hotel in the past, but he became attached to the place. ...i hope mr. oshiro is okay. i just left a small town where some lady was trying to pose as my mother. it was weird. that's been the strangest thing about this place so far.

Usually you would, yeah, but the islands I grew up on have a special way of tying things together like this so they never come loose.

[It's technically not a lie to say she grew up on Destiny Islands. So she only feels a little bad about fudging something like that so quickly. Being a clone is hard.]

I got into beading the last time I was here, too, so anyone can make shell bracelets even without getting actual ones if they have the right beads.

I woke up with it. Apparently it's my "starter" pokemon. This place has a really lousy sense of humour. Actually.....I wonder if that lady has anything to do with it. Maybe I should go back and try to interrogate her or something.

still not changing how weird that is. and honestly, i couldn't get that lady to tell me anything. to be fair, she creeped me out way too much. ...i guess we both just got here then? my starter is kinda like a rock? he's this really solid rhino. and yeah, i know that sounds strange, but i guess that's everything around here. well...the ghost ended up getting mad at me for something that was kinda my fault. i left his hotel so hopefully he'll be okay

Yeah, she was kinda of creepy too. I kept telling her I had my own mother but she wasn't having any of that. I just left because it was like arguing with an overly friendly/creepy brick wall.

at least the wilderness is somewhat normal...except now i'm wondering how pokemon interact with people who travel. also that music won't stop playing subtly in the back of my mind. glad you got away from psycho mom though. okay. maybe i have more issues with this place than i thought. at least Rhyhorn is cool...oh! i'll take a picture of him and send it your way.

he's like a regular rhino, except the pokedex tells me that he's rock and ground type. so i dunno the details behind pokemon biology, but i think he's pretty smart. ...well. this will sound weird, but my evil mirror self made mr. oshiro mad by telling him that his hotel was a dump. then he attacked me so i had to escape.

what kind of personality does it have? please tell me it's not evil. my mirror self didn't exactly give me good advice either. she's tried to hurt me on multiple occasions. as for how she came to be...i'll try to give you the short version. i went on this expedition to climb a mountain back home. i found this old mirror in some ruins and it cracked, revealing her. my mirror self. she started chasing me, telling me i couldn't climb the mountain and that i should just go home ...she might be right. i was trying to talk with her, but she knocked me off right before i could reach the summit and i fell into a pool of water. when i woke up though...i was here instead of on the mountain.

I know right, it was on my top list of vacation plans. Right behind getting food poisoning at the breakfast buffet. #sarcasm forever

I honestly have no idea. It's just looking at me. There's like ....over 100 spirits in there, I'm hoping that maybe idk, some of them have given up being jerks. But knowing my luck....

oh man...don't even get me thinking about food. i'm hoping whatever rations i have can last me until i get to the next town. i want some poutine and a beer, if this place even has that. yeah...i'd keep it in the pokeball unless absolutely necessary. maybe you can trade it to someone else for a less creepy pokemon. or maybe the spirits will actually work together for some reason.

It certainly wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility. They can possess inanimate objects, after all. In fact, many species of Ghost Pokémon only come into existence by possessing something.

I believe it won't be a problem with your current Pokémon, though. As far as the research I've gathered can tell, Spiritomb is inextricably bound to it's stone.

Of course they would.

And being bound to something, some place doesn't mean ghosts can't possess someone.

Uh....do you know if it's possible to unbind them? Just so, you know I NEVER do that by accident? I don't have the best luck with this sort of thing and the last thing I want is to accidently release over 100 spirits.
