Amity Blight | The Owl House
[The pokemon centers are great places for social gatherings. All trainers need to stop there for rest and healing, and they're usually the most iconic landmarks in any given town, making it easy for friends traveling down different routes to meet up fast. However, there's one girl here that isn't using this stop to be friendly; Amity has what looks like half a shelf's worth of library books spread out on one of the tables in the lobby, all tabbed and open to different pages. It looks like she's studying up on battling, and looks from one book to another as she jots some notes down on a small pad.
Despite her focus on her work, occasionally she'll pull a small treat out from a bag propped up in her clutter, leaning down and feeding the nidoran napping at her feet.]
Water washes away fire. Fire melts ice. Ice kills plantlife in winter. Grass...
[Hm. Seems like she's studying type advantages?]
[B; Any Random Route]
[Training pokemon is hard. Training pokemon who have vastly different personalities is harder. Take Amity's pokemon, for instance; Otabin the Nidoran was a good boy. Eager to fight and play and happy to listen to her orders. He was more than just her pokemon; he was a friend. A companion that Amity might say she even loved.
On the other side of the coin, however...]
Abomination, rise!
[In front of her is a Grimer. A normal old grimer, burbling and grumbling and hunched over in a slimy purple mound. Amity holds her hand up, like one might do when teaching a dog to stand on its hind legs, but the blob just. lays there.]
I said, rise!
[... No dice. The grimer seems to sink even lower to the ground, now resembling a very toxic puddle.]
Ugh, why won't you listen????
[C; Wildcard]
[Open prompt! Throw anything at me! If you wanna toss some ideas around beforehand, feel free to message me at
A
AMITY!!
[Luz nearly trips over herself trying to get over to where Amity is, her mouth in a wide smile.]
I am so glad to see a familiar face! Did you wake up in a weird house with a fake mom too?
no subject
Luz? [Oh. Oh, okay! She's here!] I, uh... yeah. That happened to you too? I thought it must've been some kind of illusion, but I haven't been able to do any kind of magic since I woke up here.
[Amity's not going to admit she booked it out of that house as fast as she could when she ran into "mom". Considering the problems she has with her own parents... it bordered very much on uncomfortable.]
... Wait. How long have you been here?
no subject
[At least Luz recognizes the world she's in.]
Oh, um, I've been here... a week? I haven't seen Eda or King or anyone else I recognize.
no subject
[She doesn't like it. She's worked too hard to refine her own abilities for them to just... disappear like that.]
... Wait, seriously? That's around when I woke up here. You... must've run out a lot faster than I did.
[Does she sound... slightly disappointed? Nah, can't be....]
no subject
[Luz trails off a bit, wondering if she should've admitted to the playing the Pokemon games. Is that too kiddy? Is Amity gonna think she's an immature baby?]
... I mean, the video game that I uh, played when I was younger!
[There. Luz puts her hands on her hips.]
Geez, we must've just barely missed each other. Well, I'm glad we found each other now!
no subject
A what? Some kind of game? [????] You sound familiar with all of this... are you telling me the human world has monsters like this?
no subject
No, no! Well. Not exactly. It's a virtual, role-playing game.
... Which thaaaat probably doesn't make sense either since the Boiling Isles doesn't have television. Wait, I know-
[Luz suddenly gets an idea, and pulls out her PokeGear. She remembers seeing some game options earlier while she was poking through it. She flips to the games section, and taps on Robot Rapidash Attack and then puts it down so Amity can see.]
-this is what I mean by video game! Something like this!
no subject
So this is all a human thing.
[Once, that might have been said with a sneer. Now it's just... well. It's a little blunt, because she's just simplifying the information she's been given, but there's no animosity or anything behind it. She almost sounds... curious.]
If humans created this "video game", does that mean you know how to get out of here?
no subject
... We definitely need to make our Pokemon stronger first though.
[Her little Cubone isn't even ready for its first gym challenge. She vaguely remembers playing more than one Pokemon game, she can't seem to recall this game. Would the gyms be the same?]
no subject
[And... kind of a good lead. Ominous means powerful, and powerful means that they control more than what they initially let on. It's their best lead right now, at least.]
Do you think we should... uh. [She clears her throat, reaching up to scratch nervously at the back of her neck.] Maybe... teaming up will be a good idea? If they're as powerful as their name implies, it might be better. You know... strength in numbers.
[... Smooth, Blight. It's just a simple tactical plan that makes sense! Why did you ave to make it weird like that????]
no subject
[Luz has a big grin on her face. Traveling a video game world with Amity? There's no way Luz is gonna say "no".]
Since I've never played this particular game... we should go sightseeing!
no subject
Uh- yeah! [Another quick throat-clearing.] I mean... yeah, that could be nice. I heard there were some pretty neat places in this town to check out. Like the tower with the swaying support pillar inside.
no subject
[How exciting!]
This is going to be so much fun, Amity! We should come up with a team name like...
Amituz? Oh wait, Lumity!
1/2
no subject
[WAIT NO SHIPPING THOSE TWO IS A THING TOO-]
no subject
Oh! That's a good idea! Maybeeeeee... Team Azurate?

Clint's busy trying to take a nap when he hears a child yelling about...something. His expression twitches as he tries to ignore it, but she just keeps going. If he wanted peace and quiet, maybe he should've just turned off his hearing aids. He blearily opens his eyes and looks towards the source--a green-haired girl shouting at a purple puddle on the ground.]
Kid, it's not gonna get up if you just yell at it. You've gotta give it some encouragement. Don't you have any treats on hand?
[At the word 'treats', the lump in his hoodie begins to move. A Rowlet pops out from the front, ruffling her feathers and staring expectantly at Clint. She lets out a hoot, opening her beak.]
No, not for you. You've already eaten more than enough for today.
no subject
[Stretched out sunning himself close to where Amity has left her pack is a nidoran; judging by the little ribbon tied around his neck, it's clear Amity's done some sort of pampering for her pokemon!]
He just... likes not listening to me!
no subject
Well, maybe you've gotta convince it that you're worth listening to in the first place. What have you done so far?
[The Rowlet nesting in Clint's hoodie squirms her way out and flutters down, hopping over to inspect it. She gently pecks at the ground. Clint frowns.]
Fletcher, leave her alone.
[After a moment, she hoots at the Nidoran, fluffing up her feathers, as if asking, "What's wrong with them?"]
B
Maybe they're just tired?
no subject
.... Looks like you need more help than I do right now. Need a hand?
no subject
I'm fine, I'm fine! Anja here's just a little needy.
[With an effort, Lys manages to put a hand over her Pokémon's face, pushing them away just enough to sit up and start wiping her own face with the back of her sleeve, patiently tolerating the way her Rockruff immediately starts rubbing their pebble-coated ruff against her side instead.]
So.....Abomination? That's really their name?
no subject
Correct. They're named after my alchemical partner back home; a creature of sludge I can summon at will. An abomination.
B
Not to give unasked-for advice the moment we meet, but... you seem awfully convinced you can order your way into getting that creature to obey you.
