[He blinks.] Oh! I didn't realize you knew Hythlo. Are you from his world or did you just meet him while traveling?

[Guess you have a friend in common, huh?]
zodiheart: (F17)

Re: Elidibus - Final Fantasy XIV

[personal profile] zodiheart 2020-09-05 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[His smile grows, slightly surprised.]

You know him as well? What coincidence - I am indeed from the same world as he, though from a different point in time. How have you come to know him here, if I may ask?

[A friend in common opens the doors for friendship indeed.]
zodiheart: (F8)

[personal profile] zodiheart 2020-09-06 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
[Funny thing, that he looks so at home with the tiny Cutiefly roosting upon his person. Seated as he is, his Sigilyph looms into his space as it leans in to inspect the beverage, combed claws pawing at one of his arms. After a few moments it withdraws, moving to hover close to Hythlodaeus now, almost inspecting him.]

You are aware that this body has not had any food today, correct? [He smiles wryly.] Far be it from me to dissuade you. Perhaps it may be imperative for me to remind you that perhaps I may enjoy paying you back.

[He first sips the drink, weighing the flavor on his tongue, before nodding and downing the entire thing in one go.]

[A cheeky grin.] A taste of home I've greatly missed.
hythlodaeus: (69)

[personal profile] hythlodaeus 2020-09-06 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Yet if you don't keep yourself busy, I shall. [He watches him take the strong liquor down.] A man of culture, as always. Though you always find new ways to surprise me. Who did you drink with in Amaurot?

[He drinks his own down, then turns to the server and taps the glass on the table.] You can leave the bottle.

I do remember that you have an empty stomach. Do be mindful of yourself, dear Elidibus! Mayhap I've got ulterior motives.

[He picks his pokégear out of his pocket, discreetly snapping a photo of the cutiefly all settled about him.]
zodiheart: (F12)

[personal profile] zodiheart 2020-09-06 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
[He noticed that photo, but Elidibus also has tact and elects to ignore it. He smiles regardless.]

[Coy.] Now, that would be telling, dear Daeus. [A tilt of the head, a wink with covered eyes.] But I will admit to knowing Lahabrea's preferred drink, and imbibing with him on more than one occasion.

[Long, elegant fingers take a menu in hand and he scans it but briefly, pointing out his selection to the server before they have a chance to leave.]

Perhaps you do, and perhaps I find myself intrigued to find out exactly what those may be.

Re: Elidibus - Final Fantasy XIV

[personal profile] fingersandteeth 2020-09-06 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, it's complicated. We first met when I helped him purchase a Magnet train pass, ages ago, but then we didn't really see each other again for some time until a quarrel I was having with Emet-Selch over... a lot of stupid things, really, boiled over and Hythlodaeus decided to aggressively befriend me in hopes of keeping me from fighting any more with his ex-.

Which did work, I suppose, although it took something like two months to accomplish.

But, I mean, Hythlo's a fun guy. He's been teaching me how to bake, we trade gossip, and I help him practice sign language. I'm glad we're friends.
zodiheart: (F2)

[personal profile] zodiheart 2020-09-06 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
[Elidibus has mercy indeed, and now has the time to show his affections. So when Emet-Selch changes the subject he lets it go with no protest - the information was something he was rather interested in, besides.]

I see. Perhaps I should obtain a map of sorts, to know these regions in their entirety.

[Behind them, his Sigilyph moves close to the Yamask, seeming to acquaint themselves. A huff of laughter, before something occurs to the man in white. Why it had not occurred to him before, Elidibus could not fathom - the suddenness of everything, he supposed.]

But where is your favorite place in this city, dearest Hades? I should much like to see it, if you are amenable to the idea.

Hythlodaeus is very easy to be friends with, this is true. I had known him for...quite a long time, in our own world. I am glad he has such friends here, as well.

[He smiles, cheekily.] So, is there any gossip about that I should be aware of?
fingersandteeth: (smile)

Re: Elidibus - Final Fantasy XIV

[personal profile] fingersandteeth 2020-09-06 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
[That gets a laugh out of the man.] I mean, most of the best gossip is about people you wouldn't know yet. But of the people you would... hm. There's always the fact that Emet-Selch has taken up with a scandalously younger man, I suppose. Hythlo's hoping to outlive him.
zodiheart: (F7)

Re: Elidibus - Final Fantasy XIV

[personal profile] zodiheart 2020-09-06 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Scandalously younger, you say? [He taps his lower lip with one glove's claw.] I suppose any would be considered to be scandalously younger in comparison to those of our ilk.

Ah, but where are my manners! I am Elidibus, Emissary, and what might I call you?

He's only twenty-four. [So. You know. Especially scandalous.]

Oh, right, I'm Steven. Steven Durante. I work at the Radio Tower, in the newsroom. [Which is probably why he knows so much about the immediate points of interests by it.

He holds out his hand to shake.]

A - Lavender Town

It’s alright, buddy - I’m not going to hurt you.

[At first glance, it might look like this tall, broad man crouched down on the sidewalk - as far to one side as he can get, with his Swinub perfectly happy to lie on her side next to him - is talking to a shrub, or at least a very shrublike grass-type. But, no. In this instance, he’s more concerned with the Phantump peeking out from behind it.

He places a treat on the ground in front of the little Pokemon, then takes a couple shuffling steps back to give it space. The Phantump drifts forward in turn, eyeing him with what could be trepidation or just straightforward curiosity. Grant watches it with his good eye.

And then, decisively, the Phantump scoops up the snack with its stubby little hands and returns to the bushes with a playful little spin. Grant sits down with a quiet sigh as it all but disappears among the leaves again, and there he stays. He watches patiently, one hand braced on his cheek under his eyepatch, the other gently scritching his Swinub, while he waits for the Phantump to re-emerge.]

Hope I didn’t scare it.

B - Cherrygrove City, beach

[Oh no there are so many. So many gigantic crabs, which Grant is giving a wide berth as he makes his way along the beach. He’s coming to realize that he should really try just, not to be alarmed by any animals he comes across here? But, listen.

Crabs should not be this big.

He jolts a little as one scuttles past, giving it a wary look.]
Are… all the crabs here like this?
shiro2hero: (incoming dad jokes hold on)

Do you want the good news, or the bad news?

[Says the dorito-shaped individual standing beside his banana dinosaur, who has settled herself into the sand, spreading big leaves out happily in the sun. He stands out pretty well - in his gaudy Hawaiian Alolan shirt, but the expression on his face is encouraging.]

It's not really that bad, though, I promise.
demonpuppy: especially if you try not to learn anything (life is full of mysteries)

[personal profile] demonpuppy 2020-09-07 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
I think it likes you!

[Chip has been keeping behind Grant, having been previously stopped by their dad from charging right into the bushes to find the new Pal. Lazzo watches curiously from atop their head, his tongue flicking out occasionally.]

I mean, it woulda left if it was scared, right?
nastyboy: (Me: You don't remember me do you?)

[personal profile] nastyboy 2020-09-07 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[Listen, Cecil.... This is what you get for trying to be helpful. Dimitri and the Tepig both look up at the interloper, Dimitri with his eye narrowed.]

...We are having a culinary disagreement.

[DIMITRI THAT IS SURE A WAY TO DESCRIBE YOU TRYING TO EAT WEEDS. The Tepig's flat stare seems to hint at this exasperation quite well.]
nastyboy: (I feel bad for anyone who has ever)

A

[personal profile] nastyboy 2020-09-07 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
...You feel a connection to it?

[Dimitri is not wearing his plate armor today, because apparently there are things like "cleanliness" and "hygiene" to care about and so he's been robbed, which might explain how he can just... fucking appear almost out of nowhere from behind Grant with very little noise. It's possible Grant heard him anyway, of course... but, without his plate, Dimitri is incredibly quiet as an individual.]

[He's holding a Tepig in his arms, and looking down towards the Swinub in particular despite referring to the Phantump... so, y'know, that might be a little confusing.]

[But mostly he's distracted because... boar... friends????]
paladinlost: (thoughtful)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2020-09-07 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
A... culinary disagreement.

[Please let it not be what he thinks it is. Please. Not that he's in the best position to talk, considering what he ate during his very week, but still.]

I'd not recommend eating wild plants without washing them, unless you've absolutely no other option. You never know what kind of Poison-type attack might have been used in the vicinity.

[Hopefully, this first step away from the weed-eating is sufficiently logical and harmless to be accepted.]

[ Well this is? A lot?? SHE JUST CAME TO THE PARK TO HAVE A NICE TIME, NOT TO HAVE A FUCKING ANGRY FOREST ELF RELAPSE AT SOME GUY TRYING TO PICK A FIGHT WITH A BEE- ]

I- excuse me, are you planning to just hit that creature with a rock?

[ LIKE. JUST TO CONFIRM, HERE. ]
nastyboy: (Barbarian: ...I reckless attack.)

[personal profile] nastyboy 2020-09-07 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[The good news is that approaching this ridiculous bullshit in a perfectly practical manner is actually completely Dimitri's jam, and he pauses for a moment as he takes in Cecil's words.]

...I had considered the possibility of small bugs - [no not bug types, those are cheating] - and dirt covering the plants, but the use of poison.... That is something I had not thought of.

[And he puts the dandelion down. His Tepig looks more relieved than words can describe.]

How deeply does this poison sink...? I would think down to the soul, but this place is... strange.
nastyboy: (Barbarian: ...I reckless attack.)

[ this is just what happens when you allow men into the woods, isnt it- ]

Dare I ask what possible series of events led to this decision? Or would that cut too much into your "hitting bees with rocks" time?
paladinlost: (calm)

[personal profile] paladinlost 2020-09-07 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[Good. All that experience teaching child mages which plants are safe to eat is good for something after all.]

That greatly depends on the moves involved. Poison Powder would be easy enough to wash away, at long as you do not mistake it for mere pollen, but sludge attacks tend to stick to the roots. We can at least assume that the local soil has not been contaminated by a Grimer; otherwise, there'd be no dandelions to be found at all.

[He'd take his Roselia out and ask her to pantomime a more detailed explanation, but for some reason he feels that admitting he trains an amateur poisoner would be a terrible idea right now. Thankfully, he has other options up his sleeve. Or, well, in his bag.]

If you've no food supplies, I can give you a Blissey egg. It makes for a very plain meal by itself, but it should be more nutritious than anything that could be foraged on this route and poison-free.

[That's even better than sugar-free!]
nastyboy: (Me: You don't remember me do you?)

[personal profile] nastyboy 2020-09-07 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I will have to ask the wasp.

[Because that is not a bee!!! He knows what bees look like!!!]

[And also knows what it looks like when he's stepping forward with the rock raised again, and the Nidoran at his feet bounds alongside him excitedly. Apparently SOMEONE thinks this is a good idea.]

[But this is why we don't listen to poison rabbit-pigs.]
