After the long beat of that moment, Lanque pockets his gear and resumes his attention to the breathless man.]
Look, whatever it is you're trying to sell me, I'm not interested.
no subject
[Finally he can bring himself to stand up all the way, the stitch in his chest easing up some.]
Your lizard took Togie! [He gestures to the Salandit in question.] I thought you needed help! Why would you go and do that?
no subject
This cues Lanque's sharp gaze going back to Neville.]
Bold claim when you have no proof. What exactly were you helping him with? He looks fine to me.
no subject
He was shivering and when I helped him, he swiped Togie's ball right off me! Just look for yourself, let Togie out. You'll see.
[Neville's arms fold over his chest, giving both of them pointed looks.]
I mean it, come on. I want my friend back.
no subject
[Lanque says with an exaggerated roll of his eyes, before glancing to the Salandit, who is now holding the ball behind his back. As if that somehow makes the whole time it was visible before instantly forgotten.]
You do know Salandit are fire-types. I doubt he was cold, but you were stupid enough to fall for it. Really, shouldn't this be the cost of stupidity? Where I'm from, such naivete would cost you much more than just a friend.
[He shrugs and smirks.]
What if I don't give Togie back? If that even is what's in the ball. What're you gonna do about it?
no subject
He swallows, his fists clenching.]
It doesn't have to be this way, c'mon, mate. Just give him back, I don't- I don't wanna have to fight you. [There's just too long of a beat between then and his next words.] But I will.
no subject
His eyebrows raise curiously, his smirk remaining.]
Oh? With your fists—or do you have another little beast to fight your battles for you? I do hope you realize you are clearly outmatched here.
no subject
Neville really can't shake the Malfoy vibes radiating off this guy and it's making it slightly- very, very slightly- easier to want to fight him. He's done it before, after all. Ish.]
So what if I am! Togie's my friend, the only one I've made here so far. He's not something you can just take because you think you're better than me, he's a living thing for goodness' sake! I feed him, take care of him, rock him to sleep, it's me that looks out for him. Not you!
[Neville steps closer, his hands moving from folded to defensive.]

While Neville isn't exactly reminding him of anyone in particular, his level of pathetic is on par with Lynera, that's for sure.
Well, no. That's an insult to this guy, at least he's brave enough to confront Lanque to his face, instead of the backstabbing, gossipy hoofbeastshit she pulls. In that respect, Lanque has to commend him, even if this whole thing is ridiculous.]
Pathetic. I doubt he's really worth the trouble.
[As he says this, he takes the ball from his salandit, who lets out a grumble of a complaint, folding his arms over his little lizard chest as he glowers at Neville.
Inspecting the ball with a flat expression, he then looks to Neville—tossing him the ball. Much to his Salandit's dismay.]
Next time, don't be such a fucking idiot.
no subject
Neville fumbles it, looking like he's nearly about to drop before- got it!]
Yeah, well, maybe if you weren't such an arse, I wouldn't be!
[Wait...
Hrrrmph.]
Shove off.
[With Togie in hand, Neville skulks off.]
no subject
Until a moment later, when his Salandit slinks out from behind Lanque, gazing up at him with discontent. Meeting that gaze, he quirks an eyebrow.]
...Well? Go back out there, and make sure you lose them this time. I hardly want to deal with such a whiny fucking bore again.
[The salandit rolls his eyes, before scurrying off to find another fool to fall for his faking. Lanque turning back to his 'gear while he waits.]
