💀 1. New Bark Town

[ There's a blond woman sitting in a wheelchair outside her house, with a concerned look on her face, and a lovely little Duskull floating along beside her. As soon as she sees someone nearby, she heads towards them, waving to catch their attention. ]

Excuse me! There's a woman in that house back there... [ She points to the house she had woken up in. ] I think she needs help. She's confused-- she seems to think I'm her daughter.

[ Yes, there's also the fact that Rainer is on a different plane with no idea how she got here, but that can be remedied in its own time. She's in no particular rush to get back home, what with everything that just went down there. What's more pressing, in her mind, is this poor woman claiming to be her mom. Clearly she has dementia or has been put under some kind of spell. ]

💀 2. Network

Hi there! My name is Rainer, and I'm looking for someone with planar magic? Specifically someone who can open a planar rift. You see, I'm not supposed to be here. Don't get me wrong, this plane is really nice and the people and animals here are very charming, but I need to get back to Nua. My dad is going to be worried sick about me if I don't at least tell him where I am.

Network, aaaaaaa!!!

[Normally he'd roll his eyes and ignore this kind of thing. But he first notices Nua. Then planar magic. THEN THAT'S RAINER, OH HELL.]

Yeah, I have some bad news on that front. Unless you suddenly up and disappear for no reason, you're stuck here. Sans magic. Kinda sucks.

Wait, what? What do you mean sans magic?

[Guess what moron forgot his name doesn't automatically show up on these things.]

Like whatever force brought everyone here thought it was funny to get rid of magic. Unless it's these creatures spitting fire or water or whatever.

Well... can any of the creatures open a planar rift?

[You know what, this probably will solve a lot more questions. Probably. Possibly.]

I would assume those are more, uh, suited as "gods" or whatever of this world. Meaning no, not that I've seen. Otherwise I doubt anyone would still be here by choice.

[ Hang on, give her a second to figure out how this thing works... she hits the camera button at first so Fitz gets a nice brief closeup of her chin, before she manages to shut off the video and get it to just voice. When the sound cuts in, she's halfway through a bright laugh. ]

-ahaha, Fitz, what are you doing here?? This is great! I thought I was the only one here!

Well, not the only one here obviously, but the only one from Nua.

[As if any of them know how to properly use a camera!

He can't help an almost relieved sigh and the sound of clicking claws nearby. Ignore that last part.]

You missed out on Argo being here, but he got the lucky roll of getting out of here through who knows what means. Not that... you know, I wish this on anyone, because it really does blow to be a regular person with absolutely nothing special going for you. Other than these creatures.

Even Snippers is some weird crab from here now and I kind of hate it.

Oh, you've got Snippers! Lucky. I don't have any of my skeletons. Not even the raccoon!

Well, there's a little floating skull guy, but it's not the same, you know? I'm not even sure he's really dead!

[Rainer. Rainer, why are you like this. He'd almost forgotten about the affinity for dead woodland creatures. Almost. In the back of his mind.

He'd hoped.]

Well, as much as he can be Snippers. Snippers 2.0, if you will. [The worst naming scheme known to man.]

You could argue the same thing with the ghosts here, I've... seen them eat before. Even though they're ghosts. How do ghosts ingest anything, Rainer, I don't understand.

Sinppers 2.0, I like that. Can I meet him? Where-- [ Muffled sounds as she tries fiddling with the settings on her device. ] These things are kind of amazing, aren't they? Like the notebook, but extra useful!

Anyway, where are you? I'm on a road, on my way to-- Hang on... Where was that map? Dusky, can you--? [ A brief pause as her Duskull shows her how to bring up the map. ] Thank you! I'm on my way to a place called Cherrygrove City? That's a cute name for a town, don't you think? But... It's taking me a while to get there because this chair is a lot slower than mine, and it's hard to push myself the whole way.

[ Her arms are getting a real workout! She'd stopped somewhere by the side of the road to write this message, lounging beneath the shade of a tall tree. It was all very picturesque and pastoral, really. ]

They really are! [Oh, right. The video function, he's huffing softly to himself as he fiddles around to get it to work properly and focus on him just sort of chilling in some sort of building and there's a very attentive krabby perched on his shoulder. Still with his little black and gold cape from prom. How cute.]

Evidently the name of the species he is now is a... "krabby", like crabby but with a k instead of a c. There should be a function on that device that can tell you more about these creatures, including your... Dusky, was it?

[ALSO DON'T YOU PING HIS NEED TO COME HELP, RAINER.]

Cherrygrove... That's... I mean, it's not too far for me to get too since there's these teleporters that are connected between the cities here. And I doubt the people I'm travelling with currently would mind another person around. Morgan, in particular, probably would be ecstatic about it.

Do these people not know how to spell "crab?"

[ Said with an innocent confusion. But hey, she's not one to judge. ]

It's Duskull, I think, but Dusky just sounds cuter, and it's easier to say, don't you think? Right, Dusky?

[ She manages to turn on the forward facing camera just in time to catch her Duskull bobbing through the air happily, chiming in with a "Dusk! Dusk! Duskullll!" ]

See? He likes it.

[ And there she is on camera, finally. Sitting calmly under a nice, big tree. No more ornate wooden chair with underglow lights and fancy compartments, but she does have a good, serviceable replacement with wheels, and her bag slung over the back of it. ]

According to this map, I've got about a day's more travel to get to Cherrygrove. Are you alright with waiting that long?

Could you tell me more about these planar rifts you mentioned? I've never heard of such a thing before! They sound fascinating.

Sure! That's simple.

Well, not SIMPLE. But it's not as complicated a spell as it sounds.

It's basically a teleportation portal, but instead of teleporting you somewhere else on the same plane, it teleports you to a different plane entirely!

Amazing! Where I am from, we must physically move from place to place, which can be something of a hassle. There's warp pads in the pokemon centers here that can take you from city to city, but I don't think they have enough power to take you to another place entirely.

Oh. Well, that's not very good news.

Sorry! It's not your fault. It's just kind of disappointing to hear, you know?

I do not blame you. This place can be very disorienting, even at the best of times.

What's your name? It feels weird writing to someone and not knowing who they are.

[ She doesn't know of a plane called Vinci, but she supposes that's probably to be expected in a place like this. ]

Have you been trapped here very long, Leonardo?

No, let's not say "trapped." That's so depressing. Stuck? Stranded? Kept? Are any of those better?

Stuck sounds about right to me, though there are much worse places to find yourself stuck inside.

I've only been here for about a month or so, though, so I may not be the best source for information about how this land operates.

That's true! I guess if I have to be stuck somewhere, it's not all that bad a place to be stuck. At least here there are no monsters or demons or anything trying to end the world!

That would depend on what you consider a monster, as there are many strange creatures here. Though none of them have attempted to end the world.

As far as I'm aware, at least.

Oh, yeah! I guess you're right! I was thinking of them more like animals or semi-sapient creatures. None of them seem to be able to talk much, besides saying one word over and over again.
