Oh, hey! Yeah, rogue skills are kind of applicable no matter where you are. One of my friends back home is a rogue.

No, I'm from Nua. I've been here about six months now? Never heard of Spyre, but it sounds like our planes are more alike than most others. Can you believe there are worlds out there where magic isn't real?

What, seriously? That sounds so... lame.

[Riz doesn't even have magic, has never really had any ambitions towards it, but it's still such a fundamental part of existence to him that imagining a world without it is just... it feels empty and dull. Even this world has magic, even if people seem to be in denial about it. Riz only has to look at the pokemon and the dozens of identical nurses and cops to know it does.]

Half a year?
And you haven't found a way out yet?
necrodentia: (PB 70)

I just realized they both went to adventuring schools

[personal profile] necrodentia 2021-09-16 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Not yet. Not only that, but my dad (who is an experienced planeswalker) hasn't made his way here to come find me, which he absolutely would have done if there was a way to do it.

We're not trapped indefinitely, though. People do leave here, presumably to go back to their home planes, it's just that... We don't get any say in how or when that happens.

They are very same hat.

[personal profile] nightyorb 2021-09-16 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Presumably.
So there is no actual evidence that the people who disappear here go back to their own planes?
What is the average length of stay in this place?
And what about who is responsible for bringing us here?
What is known about that?

[personal profile] necrodentia 2021-09-16 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Not exactly... But there was one time where my friend went into a sort of coma for a week, and when he woke up, he remembered things from Nua that he hadn't known about before. So... it's like maybe his consciousness went back home, even though his body stayed here?

Some people have been here for years. I'm not sure what the average stay would be, there's a lot of us planeswalkers here, and we're pretty spread out across two continents. As for who (or what) is responsible for bringing us all here, leading theory I think is this Legendary Pokemon named Arceus? "Legendaries" are this plane's equivalent of gods, basically. But they're not exactly in contact with each other, so don't go trying to send Arceus a message through another Legendary. I already tried that.

Maybe.
Or someone got to him with a memory spell or something.

*Years*?
I can't stay here for *years*.
My friends need me.
I don't know if they're still in Hell or if they managed to make it back to Arborly, but either way, I can't just abandon them for years and then just show up and be like, hey, sorry I got stuck on some magic-less plane for a couple of years, super didn't mean to, anyway did you finish our spring break project?

The only one who knew the things he saw while he was conked out is me, and I couldn't have hit him with a memory spell without my magic, even if I did know any memory spells.

Look, I'm sorry. I hate to be the bearer of bad news. I would love to tell you, "Oh, don't worry, there's a way to send your friends an interplanar message, to let them know you'll be a while but you're alright," but... There really isn't.

[Riz was feeling A Lot of Emotions about this whole situation, but he did the only sensible thing which was to gather them all up, put them in a big locked box-of-holding in the back of his head to deal with later (or maybe never) and focused on The Case.

Because this was a case now. And Riz was going to solve it. He just had to.]

Okay.
Okay.
And you said some god named Arceus is responsible for this?
What do you know about them?

[Oh Arceus, you are going straight on a motherfucking clue board the moment Riz manages to get some cork and pins and red string.]

Well, don't go quoting me on that or anything. It's just a theory I've heard floating around. I don't think anyone has any concrete proof that Arceus is responsible or even involved.
Arceus is something like the Pokemon's creator god.
I've never come close to meeting him/her/them, but from what I can tell he's/she's/they're some kind of spiky deer... centaur...ish thing?

Have you heard any other theories floating around?
Doesn't matter how ridiculous, I'd like to hear them all.

[ There's a log "Rainer is typing" ellipsis before her next message comes through. ]

I haven't really looked into theories much, but...
- Maybe Team Rocket is behind it? They're like an organized crime syndicate. I don't think this option is very likely, because they seem kind of inept.
- There's also at least one cult going around. I beat up one of their followers not that long ago. Not sure what the cult is called, or what motive they could have for bringing us here and stealing our magic, but it's a possibility.
- There are these two eccentric rich guys named Riegfried and Soy. I've heard they're suspicious, but I'm not sure if they're suspicious in any ways that relate to interplanar kidnappings.
- The "Elite Four" seem a little sketchy to me, but that's just a hunch.
- It could also be some mysterious ancient Pokemon we've never heard of. Most all of the magical power in this plane comes from or is centered around Pokemon, so this is probably the most likely cause.

Can you tell me more about this crime syndicate and the cult?

[He'll go down the list of other theories later, but information about local cults and crime groups will be valuable intel even if it doesn't tie into this mystery.]

[personal profile] necrodentia 2021-09-22 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
I mean, not much?

Team Rocket is apparently a group that's been around for a long time, committing little crimes here and there. Nothing too major, from what I understand. I haven't actually been around to witness any of their escapades.

The cult seems to be a lot more recent. Their logo is kind of like a lemon with red claw marks coming off of it? Or a yellow eye with red eyelashes? Depending on how you look at it. There was this special egg in an underwater temple that hatched into a Legendary Pokemon, and the cultists tried to steal it by fighting us with these Pokemon who were all like... artificially enraged, somehow? Like barbarians, sort of, but you could tell it was something unnatural. It was super spooky.
