[Genya turns in an instant. It's hard to call his eyes fiery, considering the state of them. But they are certainly bloodshot, and where there would be eyebrows is pulled down into a terrible glower. He recognizes the flame of the young man's hair, knows that this might be where Master Himejima would caution things like "politeness" and "respect."

Laughable. Besides, this clearly isn't the departed Hashira. He'd heard, somewhere through the grapevine, of a sibling, but...]

What the hell do you want? [He spits towards the ground at Senjuro's feet.] Unless you're going to tell me what's going on around here, you better get out of my way and stay out of it. There's a demon nearby, and I don't need to be protecting some dumb kid while I try to take it out.

You're a hunter...?

[Between the look that could kill and the spitting (what is wrong with him...) Senjuro takes a step or two back, mindful not to step on the critter behind him. The other boy certainly has a chilling air about him. It's a feat for Senjuro to swallow his hesitation and wipe the tears off his face.

Still, his voice is meek, and he looks like he's seconds away from a panic attack.]

You still shouldn't hit a... a creature that did nothing to you...

[namuthing]

Seriously?

[Well at least he's distracted enough by the kid to stop harassing the Pokemon. Even if he is pushing in close and trying to go chest to chest with him. Or would, if he weren't so damn tiny. What the hell dude, eat some more.]

It's a demon's minion? Do you cry over demons? Do you think we can be friends with them? If you do, you're even stupider than you look.

[Gods, the guy is so intense... and so big. Sure, Senjuro is intimidated, but the little creature is even smaller than he is. The right thing to do is defend it, even if he could get hurt in the process. That's what his brother would do.]

I... I thought so, too, but look at it... It isn't attacking us. I don't think it's a demon...

It's playing games with your head. [He lifts his hand, rapping his knuckles against poor Senjuro's skull.] That's what demons do, idiot.

[He's not getting anywhere with this kid. He needs to get a move on, before whatever demon is fucking with his head gets away. Besides, from what he can tell, the kid isn't a member of the corps. There's pretty much no rules against him getting roughed up a little, right?

He takes a step back, hand curling into a fist as he does. Before he can do a damn thing with it, though, there's a little cry from nearby. A little... hamster thing comes wandering over, before flopping against Genya's leg.

Well. At least he's distracted by shaking it off?]

But it hasn't tried to hurt me all day -- and it's been in the sunlight -- !

[Oh, why didn't he think harder about all of this earlier? If he hadn't panicked and had just slowed down a little, they wouldn't be in this situation...

Senjuro may not be any good at fighting, but he knows enough to raise his arms in front of his face so the older boy's punch doesn't hurt his head. The blow never comes, though. He peeks out from behind his hands to see the candle thing has come to hover between them, but it's just... staring at Genya, now. And Senjuro is left to stare at the... hamster.]

Wh... Hey, be careful! You could hurt it!

[namuthing]

Quit [Shake.] Defending. [Shake. Shake.] Demons!

[With the last kick of his legs, the creature goes flying off, hitting a nearby tree with a thunk. It slides to the ground rather cartoonishly, flopping onto its little face. Genya rolls his eyes at the creature, before turning his gaze back on Senjuro.

What he doesn't see is the creature rising up. It's brown fur is now black and purple, and its eyes glow with a menacing red glare.]

[The horror! Senjuro watches the poor thing flop, but then Genya turns back around with a vengeance, and he has to be on guard once more --

Okay, so it turns out that the previous horror was child's play. Senjuro's eyes go wide as saucers as the very clearly demonic creature pulls itself up. And the candle thingy doesn't look at all bothered... Does that mean he was tricked? He chokes on his breath for a moment, then tries to push Genya to turn back around.]

Wait, look! It's coming back!
