[ Despite being seemingly mortal upon arriving in this place, Lucilius no doubt still cuts an imposing figure in front of the teenager. Regardless, he at least attempts to be friendly. ]

Tell me, child. What island is this? I barely even got my bearings before my supposed mother pushed me out the door.

[ He's clueless. Help him. ]

[ naoto looks up, only to stare owlishly at the man standing before him. welp, this is awkward. sitting with things strewn about. his mom taught him better! it takes him a minute to respond. ]

Uh... yeah, me too. [ beat. ] I don't think we're on any island. I'll figure it out once I open the map, though!

[ it takes him a minute, but he soon announces the name. ] New Bark Town... Johto...? Where the hell's that?

[axionapocalypse]

Your guess is as good as mine. From the name, I'm assuming most of this area is known for nature...

[ He fumbles with the device he's been given, same as the child's, he notes. ]

Seems there's a national park in this region as well, so perhaps my assumption is correct.

... what might your name be, young man? My name is Lucilius.

[divinereaper]

[ as lucilius speaks, naoto's gathering all his things from the floor and standing up so that he's not as messy as he looks. making a good impression is important!! ]

You can never go wrong with nature, yeah. So far I'm liking it.

[ a blink, then a smile. ] Nice meeting ya, Lucilius. I'm Naoto. I'm guessing you were in another world before waking up here to a 'mom' who kicked you out?

[ naoto did you have to be hyper-specific...? ]

Well, yes, but not so much another world as trapped in the void between dimensions... it was well deserved, but still.

[divinereaper]

[ naoto lights up for a moment, but then his brows furrow, as he looks at lucilius carefully. ] Wait a sec, you came from the Boundary? Huh... I don't see the crest on you. Nor do I sense the Azure anywhere on ya...

[axionapocalypse]

T-the what, now?! You're asking far too many questions!

[ he's really, really trying not to raise his voice, so it comes out as more of an indignant squeak than anything. ]

When I say that, I mean I was trapped in a vast expanse of nothingness, a rift in space.

... it was because I attempted to destroy my world.

[divinereaper]

But the Boundary is exactly that-- a vast expanse of nothingness! How the hell did you make it out without any crest to prove it!?

[ he regrets asking that, thanks to lucilius dropping that bombshell on him. ] Huh?! Destroy your world...? ... You're not Izanami, are you...?

[axionapocalypse]

There may be an elder Astral by that name, but no. As I said, I am Lucilius, head Astral researcher and the creator of primal beasts.

[ this is going over Naoto's head, he's sure. but he doesn't care particularly. this child's being kind to him, so may as well assuage his fear. ]

... those are terms I've never heard before, but I'll believe you, just this once.

[ after all, he's not asking about his own crest on full display, or about the boundary as a whole. ]

Anyways, we're in this new world together, and... uh, I've seem to have lost my abilities. That's nice. It's hard to ignore not seeing numbers anymore...

You had unusual abilities?

[ he's genuinely interested. researcher brain go brrr ]

Please, tell me more. I myself only had the distinction of being very hard to kill... but that's true of my people as a whole.

How about we get out of this town first? I'll tell you on the way to the next city, since I don't think we're too welcome on staying here.

[ he might as well, because if he's going to have to deal with researcher shit, he might as well get something out of it! honestly, he preferred lucilius' method than a certain cat scientist's. ]

Let us proceed, then. My little friend here, I've named Million. She seems unusually timid so far, but protective at the same time. Not unlike a sighthound, so I wonder if perhaps her breed is this world's equivalent...

I'm pretty sure if we look into the handbook, it'd be able to tell us some things.

[ but after he says that, he crouches down and smiles at the absol. ] Nice to meet you, Million.

[ while down, he picks up the litwick and brings it up to view. ] I don't know the name of this little guy, but I think I'm gonna call it Candelaria.
