[ after being shoved out of 'mom's' house with nothing but the bag in hand and a few choice words thrown her way, naoto was exploring his bag full of goodies with his litwick at his side-- seems like she was excited to know the bag's contents as he was.

but the more he dug, the more his happy mood sank until it was nothing but dread. ]

Wait, am I have to go camping...? She can't do this. That woman can't do this.

[ give him a minute to compose himself. ]

slowpoke well

Man, wouldn't life be great if we were all like you.

[ naoto was laying next to a slowpoke, imitating the sloth-like pokémon with gusto. it was almost a shame he was ruining his clothing, but when laziness was an option, he was so taking it. this was the life, quite frankly. the shade provided by the tree that was nearby was icing on the cake.

let's hope his shade isn't ruined. ]

[ the camera is steadier than most, which is surprising to him, what with cradling his rather fidgety litwick in his arms, almost like a baby. but having it in frame was only because the little candle pokémon was running off every moment of every day. it was tiring him out!

he did look a little exhausted, it seems. ]

Real quick for those who changed dramatically out there-- not that I'm expecting much, really. [ naoto's never had luck with throwing caution to the wind, but hey, might as well try. but his gaze shifts to the side for a moment before turning back to the camera. ] How did you adjust? Any tips, tricks, anything to share?

[ a beat. ] I guess it just feels weird being human again.

Listen, Candelaria, I know we're not supposed to be here, but we worked our butts off! Let's just have a little fun!

[ shrine life just fit naoto, so of course he won the monks' good graces rather quickly! which means he's going to take full advantage of looking around! it took a good while to do so, but in his excitement, he made a trap go off, and with that, a rather loud scream of fear while clutching his litwick close.

after everything was said and done, naoto winced. ]

[ Despite being seemingly mortal upon arriving in this place, Lucilius no doubt still cuts an imposing figure in front of the teenager. Regardless, he at least attempts to be friendly. ]

Tell me, child. What island is this? I barely even got my bearings before my supposed mother pushed me out the door.

[ He's clueless. Help him. ]

[ naoto looks up, only to stare owlishly at the man standing before him. welp, this is awkward. sitting with things strewn about. his mom taught him better! it takes him a minute to respond. ]

Uh... yeah, me too. [ beat. ] I don't think we're on any island. I'll figure it out once I open the map, though!

[ it takes him a minute, but he soon announces the name. ] New Bark Town... Johto...? Where the hell's that?

[axionapocalypse]

Your guess is as good as mine. From the name, I'm assuming most of this area is known for nature...

[ He fumbles with the device he's been given, same as the child's, he notes. ]

Seems there's a national park in this region as well, so perhaps my assumption is correct.

... what might your name be, young man? My name is Lucilius.

[divinereaper]

[ as lucilius speaks, naoto's gathering all his things from the floor and standing up so that he's not as messy as he looks. making a good impression is important!! ]

You can never go wrong with nature, yeah. So far I'm liking it.

[ a blink, then a smile. ] Nice meeting ya, Lucilius. I'm Naoto. I'm guessing you were in another world before waking up here to a 'mom' who kicked you out?

[ naoto did you have to be hyper-specific...? ]

[axionapocalypse]

Well, yes, but not so much another world as trapped in the void between dimensions... it was well deserved, but still.

[divinereaper]

[ naoto lights up for a moment, but then his brows furrow, as he looks at lucilius carefully. ] Wait a sec, you came from the Boundary? Huh... I don't see the crest on you. Nor do I sense the Azure anywhere on ya...

You mean to say, you were human originally, then changed somehow, prior to arriving here?

[divinereaper]

Exactly that. Long story, so I'm not gonna bore you with details.

[ but he does spare a glance at his right arm. what was that about? ]

I was human-passing, but now I'm just human again... and I find it weird.

[dreamsofahero]

Well, I'm not sure there's much advice I can give you, other than perhaps keep in mind what needs and limits you had before you were changed the first time. Some people arrive here who were never human in the first place, so if you can recall that much you'll probably be in a better position than they find themselves.

Other than that, if it's any consolation, there's usually two periods of a few days each year in which peoples' original powers and forms are temporarily restored.

Well, yeah, I figured that. It's not hard to remember how to eat and sleep, after all. [ he didn't mean to sound deadpan, but it was there and it was in the open. it happens. ] But now that I think about it, yeah, it might be hard for those who never had to, huh...

[ that earns him a blink and a moment of stunned silence. ] Yeah? When the hell does that happen?

That, and it's probably best to take it easy at first, rather than risk pushing yourself beyond your limits.

Typically, once each in the late spring and the late autumn. The precise timing can vary, but it seems to nearly always occur over the course of a weekend.

Of course, any number of other strange things may happen during that time, as well.

... well, it's a little late for that, really.

[ he maaaayyy have almost hurt himself in the process of getting his litwick under control. not that he's going to say that. ]

I came from a world that is nothing but strange. I think I'll be fine.

[At first it might seem like Naoto got ripped off, because the young woman on screen clearly doesn't look human. Moon white hair, short but definitely pointed ears, sakura pink marks on the corners of her cheekbones, and very bright blue eyes with lavender pupils. At least the smile is calm and understanding.]

Greetings, I am Allura. It does feel a bit odd at first. Thankfully I seem to look close enough to human to not have had my physical appearance change, but I do miss some of my abilities. Still, it does help that this world is peaceful, and we have Pokémon to rely on. [Wait...] May I ask what you mean by human "again," though?

[divinereaper]

[ at the sight of the clearly non-human girl, naoto did in fact feel cheated. but hey, she was being kind enough to answer, so he can't be too mad. for what it was worth, he could have been ignored! it's better than nothing!! ]

Nice to meet you, Allura. I'm Naoto. [ a sheepish smile. ] I understand that-- my abilities are gone too, but if we can depend on Pokémon, then I guess I can't be too angry about losing them. Powers or not, this place is pretty calm. I like it, actually!

[ when asked about his final comment, he laughs weakly. ] Well, I went through a lot back home. It's something I don't want to talk about... publicly, at least.

[heartofalioness]

[Ah. She gives a light nod.]

Understandable. And yes, this world is actually rather relaxing on the whole. I've been here almost three months myself, but most of my friends from my home reality have been here for much longer.

[divinereaper]

[ that unintentional reminder that naoto was alone sent a sharp pain through him, only shown through a twitch of his lips. right... ]

Lucky! They must've been a lifesaver when it comes to adjusting! But judging by how many responses I got, it must mean people in general are really helpful here regardless. That's relieving.

Exactly. [She tries to give a reassuring smile.] And for what it's worth... people from the same world can be brought here at different times. Even if they aren't here now, they might show up at some point. And in the mean time, there are plenty of others with the same experience to help you.

... I'm going to hope that's not the case. The people I know showing up, that is.

[ the only person he'd be hopeful on seeing again is still probably trapped, so naoto is pretty much alone on that front. the others in his life... are much better off not knowing what his life's become. too complicated for anyone, really. ]

I'm just happy there are things to do here, and I just want to get started! Thanks for the info, Allura, you're really a lifesaver here!

Slowpoke Well

[Having lived in Azelea for more than a year now, and being a business owner meant that Kazuki knew the locals pretty well. It was a small town, and there were only a couple of places for anyone to be. So when someone new was around, it was pretty easy to spot them.]

[So when he had come around to the local landmark for his weekly offering to what he considered to be the town deities, Naoto was a curious sight. The way that the Slowpoke were happily loafing around him meant that he had to have been there awhile.]

Heeeeey there! You okay?

[divinereaper]

[ naoto's eyes fluttered open, having been on the brink of sleep. that was a voice, alright. he sits up a bit, looking around. who decided to ruin his sleep this time? ]

I'm okay.... [ a yawn interrupts that. ]

[forsaintcecilia]

They didn't Yawn at you, did they? Sometimes that can get you.

[He replied with the confidence of someone who this had definitely happened to before.]

No, they didn't... I just liked their style.

[ a lazy smile crosses his lips. yeah, he liked them a lot. ]

What's these guys' names, anyways? They look like soft, pink sloths.

Oh, these are all Slowpoke! And if you see one with a shell holding on to its tail, that's a Slowbro.

They're kinda famous here, I'm surprised you didn't already know.

Ah, so that's what they're called! [ he looks so relieved to finally know. he picks a slowpoke up, grinning at its lopsided smile. ] Think I might just take one, if they'll let me!

[ when mentioned that they were famous, naoto blinks. ] Are they? I'm still really new to everything here.
