Slowpoke Well

[Having lived in Azelea for more than a year now, and being a business owner meant that Kazuki knew the locals pretty well. It was a small town, and there were only a couple of places for anyone to be. So when someone new was around, it was pretty easy to spot them.]

[So when he had come around to the local landmark for his weekly offering to what he considered to be the town deities, Naoto was a curious sight. The way that the Slowpoke were happily loafing around him meant that he had to have been there awhile.]

Heeeeey there! You okay?

[divinereaper]

[ naoto's eyes fluttered open, having been on the brink of sleep. that was a voice, alright. he sits up a bit, looking around. who decided to ruin his sleep this time? ]

I'm okay.... [ a yawn interrupts that. ]

[forsaintcecilia]

They didn't Yawn at you, did they? Sometimes that can get you.

[He replied with the confidence of someone who this had definitely happened to before.]

[divinereaper]

No, they didn't... I just liked their style.

[ a lazy smile crosses his lips. yeah, he liked them a lot. ]

What's these guys' names, anyways? They look like soft, pink sloths.

Oh, these are all Slowpoke! And if you see one with a shell holding on to its tail, that's a Slowbro.

They're kinda famous here, I'm surprised you didn't already know.

[divinereaper]

Ah, so that's what they're called! [ he looks so relieved to finally know. he picks a slowpoke up, grinning at its lopsided smile. ] Think I might just take one, if they'll let me!

[ when mentioned that they were famous, naoto blinks. ] Are they? I'm still really new to everything here.

[forsaintcecilia]

If you try to catch one, you've gotta do it on the sly, or go a little further out in the forest. The locals really love them. They'll notice if one's missing.

Did you just get here? It's been awhile since I've run into a newcomer.

[divinereaper]

They will? ... I guess I can see why, given how happy these guys look. [ he grins-- he likes their dopey looking faces. ]

I did! This place's a lot more peaceful than I thought-- and I love it, actually!

[forsaintcecilia]

They're really relaxing to hang out with. I come to feed the ones out here in the well once a week. They're kind of like kami, so it's probably good for the town that they're taken care of.

That's great! Azalea's so out in the boonies, it's rare for people to settle down here.

[divinereaper]

People worship them like kami in this town?! [ given naoto's history with religion and mythology, his respect for these little pink sloth Pokémon only grew with kazuki's information. ] Now I really want you to come with me.

The boonies are a place I've always wanted to live in. City life's just so hectic.

[forsaintcecilia]

Yeah? That's pretty rare to hear! [While they talked, Kazuki knelt down on the ground and laid out a little picnic cloth, that he then dumped a bunch of berries on. The Slowpoke in the area zeroed in on the offering, but, you know, incredibly slowly. Like only a couple of inches a minute.] I like the city, but this felt like the best place to make an inn. If I ever need anything I can't get in town, Goldenrod's pretty close by.

[divinereaper]

[ he's mesmerized by all the slowpoke crawling their way to the berries. yep, he was in love. but the inn thing... ]

An inn? Are you thinking like... a Western inn or a Japanese ryokan? [ he's curious, okay? ] And I can see why-- new experiences for the townsfolk, a reprieve for the city folk. It's a win win.

[forsaintcecilia]

Both, actually. [Kazuki sat down to continue the conversation, happily watching the slowpoke enjoy their berries.] There's no hot spring at the Silver Horn, but I did build a communal bath. And while our menu isn't that fancy, the kitchen cooks western and Japanese food.

[divinereaper]

Ah, that sounds really cool! I'd love to see it myself. ... After these little guys finish eating, of course.

... Does your spot offer udon. [ this is a very important question. ]

[forsaintcecilia]

Udon's no problem. [Kazuki laughed a little.] You want to come visit? Newbies stay for free! It's part of the reason I opened the place to begin with.

[divinereaper]

Oh, hell yeah! Thanks for the offer! [ free place to stay, with udon included?! yes and yes. ]

Let's wait until the slowpokes are done eating, though. Don't want to startle them or anything.

[forsaintcecilia]

Not much startles them. [Usually, they don't even react until the thing that startled them was long gone, or had already cut their tails off.] But I do need this blanket back when they're finished.

[divinereaper]

Then we're gonna be here a while. [ he lays back down on the ground. ] Means I can enjoy the sunshine a little longer.

[forsaintcecilia]

I guess you can!

[Kazuki watched Naoto lay down for a moment, before deciding to join in himself.]

I haven't done this in a long time.

[divinereaper]

Neither have I. It's a nice change, isn't it? [ one he could definitely get used to. ]

[forsaintcecilia]

It is nice. [One of the Slowpoke that wasn't interested in the food began the arduous task of climbing over him. Kazuki didn't mind.] I guess I've just been too busy lately.

[divinereaper]

Balance is key, dude. You shouldn't be stressing yourself out on anything, even work. [ he knew that all too well. his stint working while in school did not go too well. ]

I used to not stress out about anything. I guess I'm getting old.
