Re: network
Ah- Hello Lorenz. I will be happy to oblige you with some tea and food as soon as you get to the house.
I presume Claude will be coming to collect you?
no subject
[For a moment he looks... positively heart broken and then Byleth's actual words come seem to register and he just blinks at the camera in confusion.]
..... Collect.... me....?
I don't believe anyone has made any plans to ah- "collect me" to anywhere, Professor.
no subject
[ A firm nod. ]
Rest assured, a warm meal and some hot tea will be waiting for you. I'm looking forward to seeing you, and meeting your ah... little friend.

[Felix is scary, sure, but the mad king is an entirely different level of terrifying and Lorenz absolutely looks it for a moment, eyes wide and one hand raised to his chest as though he might still his frantic heartbeat with a touch.]
Begging your pardon, Professor, but... undeserving though I may be of it I would like to retain this second chance at life.
no subject
[ Unless... different timeline. He walks that back a bit. ]
Nevermind it. Anyways, I will gladly fetch Claude for you.

[A pause, awkward, an apologetic sort of smile. Avoiding the topic of bothering Claude to come collect him like some lost kitten?
Maybe.]
It is good to see you again, Professor. I'm sorry for all the trouble.
no subject
[ Something seems off... ]
Are you all right?
no subject
I hadn't expected to see you again.
no subject
Lorenz? Is there something you need to tell me?

[He looks absolutely flabbergasted. Why in the world would he have made that switch then?]
Really?
no subject
What do you remember of me?
no subject
Or Claude. [He's absolutely not blushing in the slightest, it's your imagination Byleth.]
I didn't see you again until... well. The Bridge of Myrrdin. Father sent me to... demanded I... defend the bridge against... I didn't know you were alive! I had little choice in the matter and as soon as I realized I tried to stand down. You assured me you'd get me back to Derdriu and Claude but Ferdinand... he wouldn't listen and then- That godawful woman.
[He shakes his head, grimacing at the memory, one hand coming up to rub at the lingering ache where his shoulder had been all but torn to pieces.]
I wasn't expecting to see anyone again, Professor.
no subject
Oh Lorenz. I'm so sorry. That's horrible. I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you.
[ He's determined now though... ]
I will gladly look after you here though. There is no war and no fighting here. I think you will find it to be quite relaxing as I have. Please let me know if there is anything at all that I can do to help, or assist you in feeling more at ease.
no subject
[He shakes his head a little, dismissive of his own stubborn foolishness.]
No war... that is a relief but... it certainly seems that a lot of people are quite eager to fight. It is a bit disconcerting.
[He's not so sure about this pokémon battle thing.]
no subject
Ah, the fights here seem to be more like friendly sparring matches from what I have observed. As such- no bodily harm as come to me or anyone thus far in my time here. I can assure you, you are indeed safe.
I will see to it myself that you are comfortable here.
no subject
[He frowns, lips pressed in a hard line of disapproval. Come on Byleth with how soft he has always been for his horse how do you expect him to let an already chipped teacup fight for him.]
I appreciate the assurance, Professor, I do. But please bear in mind it is not your responsibility to see to everyone's safety and comfort either. You are a stranger in this land just as much as anyone else.
no subject
They are far smarter than the animals back home. Many seem to be able to fully understand human speech.
[ The gentle admonishment earns a resigned sigh. ]
I realize that, but I enjoy looking after everyone. Once everyone left after the war, despite having nothing but busy days, I felt bereft. My calling is to watch over you.
no subject
I have missed you, Professor.
[Which is all he can get out without getting overly emotional. Again.
Goddess but he's an emotional mess]
no subject
[ Somehow despite having such a flat voice, he manages to sound completely reasuring. ]
