"And here I thought I'd seen everything," Loki says, coming up from the side. A rather nervous looking Snorunt tucked into his arms. "'Sentient floating keys' is a new one though."

He smiles easy. Should Loki be here? (Should a Loki be here?) He has no idea, but the godling is a welcome sight. Mobius shrugs, opening up the pocket to find Klefki there, unsettled.

"It's okay. We're among friends." Maybe...maybe just poke out enough to see. That's enough for Klefki at the moment!

"Yeah, it's pretty weird, even for me. But I'm not gonna judge. This one seems pretty anxious. But handy enough in a fight. What about your sentient tent?"

"Excuse you, she is a hat." Loki doesn't actually sound offended as he sits a respectable distance away from the stranger. He lets go of Snorunt, but she remains in his lap, eyeing the newcomer suspiciously.

"Snjókorn here is also rather anxious, but she's getting better. Go on, say hello." She doesn't move from the lap, but she does wave a stubby little arm and chitter out a friendly hello. Loki gives her a comforting pat as a reward.

"I don't believe we've met. I am Loki, of Asgard."

Mobius waves in return. And Klefki makes a small noise, but at least doesn't go back to hiding.

And then the realization hits. Ah. It's a Loki, sure, but it's not his Loki. There's probably an expression that flits across his face--hurt, disappointment?--before it's gone again. "Mobius. I know you, Loki of Asgard. Or, I know variants of you." Not enigmatic at all. "You from here, or did you wake up in some lady's house, too?"

The brief flash of sadness intrigues Loki almost as much as the mention that this man knows him. Or at least a version of him.

"I woke here same as most did. What do you mean, you know 'variants' of me?"

"Other versions of you from other timelines." Mobius waves a hand like this should be a fairly normal thing to say. "A long story. But if I act like I know you and your whole story, try not to freak out."

[cuttingremark]

"There's no possible way you could know 'my whole story.' I've been alive for centuries." The man appeared human, but Loki knows that here that means very little.

"Prove it. Tell me something about myself that no one else could know."

"You don't want me to do that." Not that he can convince Loki of that without actually doing so and giving an example.

So he takes a breath and tried to pluck one out, staring out into the waves lapping at shore.

"You weren't yourself when you tried for New York." Start with that. Big blow. Discourage further prodding. "You won't admit it; you'll swear until your dying day that it was all you. But the Stone got to you, too. Paired with some strong encouragement from the Order."

He glances over. "If that even happened for you. Could be you're a completely different variant who never experienced that."

Loki is about to deny it, call him a fool for even suggesting that the attack was anything less than his idea because if it wasn't then that would mean he'd been manipulated and used again. But then this ordinary man cuts off his protests before he can even draw breath to utter them.

Snjokorn looks up at him with concern, sensing her trainer's sudden tenseness. This new human said something that upset her trainer, and that's not okay!

"You don't kno- Snojkorn!" Hopping off his lap, the Snorunt toddles over to Mobius and headbutts him in the arm. It isn't actually hard, seeing as she doesn't actually know the move "Headbutt", but her angry chittering makes it clear she is NOT pleased with whatever just transpired!
