It's been a while since we had one of these, so lets all gather for a nice little CR meme.

Please share your ideas of interactions you'd love your character to have, or plots you are rolling around in your head that might need a few more folks. Is your character looking for a friend? An enemy? A rival? You could find it all here. And remember, the more detailed, the better! We all want all the CR, but specific plans, or at least a specific direction you want to take something in, will really help out everybody involved.

Like before, this CR meme will also include a template specifically geared towards Rocket CR. Please fill it in to let our Rocket members know how you feel about getting your characters involved in some crime.

Name Vierna Do'Urden;

Canon: The Legend of Drizzt
Cliffnotes: Vierna has a deep seated sense of justice and a tendency toward compassion. Unfortunately, Vierna also grew up as a drow noblewoman in the extremely violent and backstabby theocracy of Menzoberranzan and got railroaded into being a priestess in the cult of Lolth, the Spider Queen. She is, as a result, not the most stable person and has a tendency to lash out when she catches herself doing shit like "caring about people."

She's currently following her canonmates Jarlaxle and Kimmuriel around because Jarlaxle is one of the very few people back home who were ever genuinely nice to her (albeit largely for the sake of her dead father) and she ~~needs an adult~~ isn't quite confident enough to strike out alone in this new world yet. I do intend for her to start challenging gyms before too much longer, and I think the power of Cute Animals That Like Her is getting pretty close to wearing her down enough for her golbat to hit that friendship-dependent evolution (yes golbats are cute. shut up).
Looking for: Vierna desperately needs some more friends that aren't her crazy almost-stepdad and his weird buddy. Also, her native language has no unironic word for friendship. You see the dilemma here. She's lonely on levels she 100% has not unpacked and does not understand, and her default setting with other people is "extreme distrust." Generally speaking, snarky/serious characters will probably find her more receptive than bubbly ones, and she's more more inclined to take women seriously than men.

If your character was at the secret sharing part of the prom event, Vierna was the one who was obviously conflicted about admitting that she valued her brothers.

I'm tentatively open to shipping her, but everything about her being very bad at friendship goes double for romantic relationships. She's bi, in the equivalent of her early twenties, and mostly inexperienced in terms of romance.

✓ Please note that if menaced Vierna will hold a grudge and will disproportionately retaliate to the extent of her ability with little if any consideration for her attacker's safety or wellbeing.

So all my lineup is dudes but I'd be up for throwing Sion or Geddoe at her and seeing how things go! Sion's the outgoing one, though he's dealt with antisocial types before, and being a gym leader may or may not lend himself credibility. Geddoe's not into socializing himself but if he warms up to someone he's pretty darn loyal, and he's good about not asking questions about things that are clearly None of His Damn Business.

The main thing with Vierna and dudes is that her culture of origin is an extremely repressive matriarchy - at this point she's actually quite a bit more willing to interact with men with something approaching respect than most drow women because she spent a couple of decades working with an almost entirely male mercenary company after her mother and sisters died, but she's still more likely to see unfamiliar men as potential minions/tools than equals.

WELL honestly both of them would... not actually be too put off by that. XD Sion's dealt with worse people with a smile, and Geddoe's too old to give a crap if someone else thinks she's superior to him.

But yeah, Sion's the one who's more likely to initiate a conversation and generally be friendly, though he's usually tactful enough not to be pushy! He does, however, have a huge mischievous streak and tends to express affection/fondness via teasing...

Geddoe's a mercenary and entirely willing to do jobs for people if someone's paying. He's also got a super dry and deadpan sense of humor, the kind where sometimes he'll say something and it's nigh impossible to tell whether or not it was sarcasm. :D

I think these could have an interesting dynamic? Riz is also big into justice, pretty serious/snarky, and being from a DnD world as well, he's at least conceptually aware of what Drow are. Though he's only familiar with Drow from his own town, who come from a standard John Hugh's teen movie culture.

That could be fun, yeah! Vierna's a bit older, relatively speaking, than Riz is but he's probably somewhat better self-actualized than she is, because it turns out that cults: super bad places to grow up, actually.

If we manage to get either of them to open up to the other, she could definitely commiserate on the absent/dead dad front.
