Yeah. It makes the species name fit perfectly too. I haven't met an Eevee who doesn't love life. They're so happy and cute.

The Lord Commander, the Azure Dragoon, and one of ours… I would think so. [Though he's less sure Aymeric and Estinien would remember it as well as the others. He blinks in surprise, eyebrows rising.] I'm not familiar with that name- but if they're as compassionate as our friend back home, I'm sure there's nothing to worry about.

[She'll definitely feel him stiffen at that name, holding her a little more tightly. If she refers to him that way… most likely she doesn't know. Should he tell her? If they've all lost their powers, presumably the Ascian has, too- but Thancred wouldn't say he's harmless even so.]

Has he done anything to you?

They are. They were the first to come meet me, to reassure me. [ And told her of the future. But she's glad it was them, and not, well. ] I hope that I can show them who I am without being the leader of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn.

[ She mentioned Ascians, and yet did not mention him then. She clearly does not know. But her ignorance does not mean she does not have fire in her eyes, a tremble in her body.

She is looking utterly serious. ] While he's done little, I cannot help but suspect he'll be doing more. And he seems so very smug about everything.

[ A beat. ]

...I would be, too, if I were returned to the prime of my life.

So perhaps that led to their species name- or perhaps that's simply coincidence. [He chuckles.] She certainly exemplifies that! I take it you've met many others?

Good. I'm glad to hear that they supported you. [He nods.] I suppose- if anything, this place is one where you can set aside those worries.

Yes, he is rather sprightly for someone who should be dead, isn't it? [He can't help the sarcastic tone- Emet-Selch might have helped the Warrior, but it won't keep Thancred from being suspicious of him.] Keep your eyes on him, Minfilia.

[Estinien glances over--the man is wearing different clothing, but it's undeniably Thancred, and he doesn't think much of responding.]

Absolutely not.

[He does appear to be rather...nervous about being here? Odd. It's a fairly bright, sunny afternoon, birds are singing, but he appears to be wanting to be anywhere but here.

The Alolan Ninetales at his side is equally jumpy. She remembers exactly what went down when they first visited this place and is not about to let it happen again on her watch.]

I think it refers to their unique evolution abilities, actually! But I like my explanation too.

[He smiles.]

Yeah, I have several. I'm breeding them.

A land where beast and man work together - even if their culture is strange. It's been... a challenge to adjust.

[ But her focus is on her hatred of Solus now. Her voice wavering ever-so slightly. ]

I have been. I... he is respected on this star, because he has conquered the challenges which they give us trainers. [ There's a pause. A slight gulp. She hasn't admitted this to anybody else, but - Thancred understands. She hopes he does. ] I hate it, Thancred. I want to show everybody what he's done, but I need to be stronger to do such.

Not one that's insurmountable, though. Especially not for you, I should think.

[He pulls her a little closer, holding gently, and the Rockruff puts its paws on her leg, trying to cheer her up.]

I understand. Then- you need to manage the challenges you receive, but more impressively. What sorts of challenges are we speaking of?

[ Doggo helps calm the angery. And her focusing on giving instructions... ]

While the handbook gives basic instructions, it's... almost too simple. Those of this land respect those trainers who conquer the sixteen gyms across two nations, working alongside their Pokemon, and challenge the ones known as the Elite Four and the Champion.

It is a land of combat, but it is quite different. Everything is built around the safety of both Pokemon and Man.

[He gives a little tail wag and lick! :> he's helping.]

I see… How do they choose who staff those Gyms, is people consistently come to challenge them?

No weapons, and with these- Pokemon?- instead… [He looks at the Rockruff rather dubiously, and reaches out to pat it.] …It's not at all what I'm used to. If it keeps people safe, then… I suppose there's no complaint to be had.

They are natives to this star. Masters, it seems, of one of the elemental types. The ones I have battled have been masters of the Flying-type and the Bug-type. [ she does not know how this slots into the elemental cycle. it is a headache. ]

It is quite strange, I must admit. I still have so many questions. But, Thancred. [ Suddenly, she looks so serious. ] They seem to work together in perfect harmony. Even if most cannot speak their tongue.

Oh- is that so? Would you mind telling me a little more about that?

I see! Then you've no small amount of expertise with them, yes? Do you show them?

[Some things are different, and some things aren't, and so- this certainly seems like Estinien. Thancred cocks his head, raising his eyebrows.]

Beenin before, then, have you?

[It doesn't seem as though it was pleasant, from that reaction, but that makes him wonder what's down there more.]

People who've lived here all their lives, then…? …Are those truly types? [He might not be the expert Urianger is, nor Papalymo, but he likes to think he knows a bit.]

Hopefully there's someone who can answer them. But- [He breaks into a soft smile, squeezing her gently for a moment.] That's a good thing, then. What we've hoped for.

It is. I do not know if Eorzea has grown so kind... [ She hopes it has. Even if she'll never see it. ]

But they truly are types! There are eighteen of them - even if some of them seem to be more descriptive then types. --oh! If we use the machines that we got when we first arrived, they have information on the various Pokemon we meet. [ She means the PokeGear. ]

[And before Thancred can spend too long sitting with the incredulity that the (former) Azure Dragoon of all people is afraid of ghosts, he elaborates.]

And they are capable of possessing people. I care not to repeat that experience.

[He's pretty sure you'll get why.]

So far, there are eight known forms they can evolve into! None of the other Pokemon have so many. They say the genes are especially unstable and that's why. I have no idea how they'd get so unstable in the first place, though.

[He looks thoughtful.]

I've wondered if there's something like Pokemon Shows like we have dog and cat shows back home. The closest thing here might be Contests, where they actually perform onstage and are graded on it. I went to one for all of us displaced people when I first got here, but I only realized recently from my research that it's actually a possible career path to take. I've considered trying them, but I haven't got that far yet.

[Well, the sort of trouble they are depends on the manner of spirit they are- but at that, Thancred's expression goes from interested to dour, eyebrows drawing in.]

Ah. Well, that's hardly one I could blame you for.

What else has happened her?

We've made steps towards that- towards proper meetings, with the city-states' leaders and theirs. …For those who've been tempered, too.

[He wishes she could, and reaches for her hand to reassure her.]

That device? Ah, I knew it must be there for one reason or another… One moment. [He reaches into his bag to grab it, holding it out.] So, then- is it this one?

[…no, that's the status of his Rockruff.]

She eventually pulls back after composing herself, giving him a huge smile, even though her eyes are still red rimmed. "I've missed you so much! Are you okay? When did you get here? Why in Merlin's name didn't you say anything over the public network on your Pokegear?!"

She punches him lightly in the upper arm in annoyance. "I would have come to get you straight away, you idiot!"

I will definitely remember it if I hit a roadblock along my journey, Radley. Honestly, I’m actually glad that I don’t have to tackle this on my own.

“I’m definitely alright, just disoriented at the moment,” he admits to her, but not knowing how to say ‘so I just defeated Voldemort back home and fixed my wand’ without dumping too information, “I just came into New Bark Town a few hours ago.”

Also Harry, you really need to get oriented with the tech of this world: this ain’t the wizarding world where Muggle tech can get destroyed upon contacting with magic.

“Oh gee, I’m so sorry, Hermione. I am still trying to figure out what to do as a Trainer that I forgot all about it,” he tries to explain himself.
