I saw a stream the other day.

[She'd mostly been sticking to the area around the cave. Rocky had been a good addition to the team. Plus there were larger gaps between the trees for Horny, he had trouble bumping into them in the forest.]

So I just throw food in and catch them when one comes up?

[It wasn't like she had a rod... Or the patience to fish. Or to raise a magikarp.]

You could. Or just see if any of them are particularly friendly. You don't always have to catch your pokemon through battle and using a Pokeball. Several of mine were ones I simply befriended along the way.
