[How she'd managed to make it this far in such a pace when this was not remotely the kind of terrain she was used to was anyone's guess. She wasn't entirely sure, herself, other than it'd been the strange creature that had been at her side when she awoke that had insisted on her getting to move.
She knew she stuck out in the crowd of the city itself, she always did in any place particularly crowded. But, luckily, she'd found the clothing in the backpack provided and had decided maybe something warmer had been in order. Even if the outfit wasn't really... something she'd ever really consider wearing herself. One hand remains lightly on the head of the absol that is tucked against her side, seeming to be particularly keen on watching the area around his trainer.]
We should be fine here, I think...? [Her voice is soft, but if anyone happens to hear her, it wouldn't be the first time she's run into that particular problem.]
[Network/video]
[It takes some fooling around and a little bit of a guide from some kindly passerby before she figures out how to get this 'gear going correctly. Things... seem rather calm and it's pretty clear that wherever she's at, she's sitting at the base of a tree. An absol rests at her side, barely visible other than his head resting in her lap, the distinctive horn-scythe obvious just barely in frame.]
I... know that this place is not somewhere I'm familiar with. If someone could please point me in the direction of information, I would greatly appreciate it. Sadiki is clearly not a ka beast nor a guide, so I am at a bit of a loss as to where "here" even is? [She's pretty firmly aware of where she was and where she should be and it certainly was not touted as this place in any way, shape, or form. Though she's hoping she doesn't have to say what places she means, necessarily.]
Goldenrod!
Hey, you alright? [Banshee watches carefully from beside Ryou, not approaching yet.]
no subject
Huh. Well, now that isn't an appearance you see every day, is it?]
Sadiki, it's fine. [The absol in question doesn't seem to listen for a half moment before returning back to her side, though still keeping a close eye on the "intruders" of the conversation.]
A little lost still, but it could be worse, I think? Getting my bearings and what everything is, though that seems to be... normal, here? [She's only guessing by how people seemed ready to help her with any questions so far.]
no subject
Banshee, no. We're not battling. [Banshee huffs, but settles down.]
Sorry about that, she likes to fight. [Ryou smiles awkwardly before continuing.] But you're new here, then? I'm still a bit new too, but I guess so many new people means the locals and the people who have been here longer are more willing to help someone in need.
[It's weird, but certainly a good thing so many people are willing to help.]
no subject
Ah? That's fine, Sadiki just wants to be protective. [A little too much in her opinion, but she can't say she doesn't appreciate him doing so. It's been... helpful up until this point, since she certainly wasn't sure how to deal with a creature attacking her that she hadn't seen before. It wouldn't have gone well for anyone.
The awkward smile is returned in kind, her free hand not on the Pokemon pushing a bit of hair out of her face and behind an ear.] I'm not going to complain about it, I prefer them like this than how people used to be. [What with... everything, but she's quickly brushing past it.] It's so odd to see so much vegetation everywhere, but refreshing! Even if it's a little chilly.
no subject
Oh, where are you from? This is kind of similar to where I'm from, but a few decades into the future compared to my time.
[It was a bit of a surprise to go from 1999 to 2022!]
no subject
I suppose the easiest way would just be to say Egypt? [Easier if someone doesn't know about specific places, even if she doesn't really know how to classify herself outside of just "Egyptian" at this point.] Decades into the future? We didn't have anything like... most anything I've seen here back home, I can't imaging that it's easier on anyone else.
no subject
[Well then. Based on what she's saying, Ryou's starting to think she might be from ancient Egypt, which would be a coincidence considering all that's happened.
He can't assume though, this could be someone unrelated altogether.]
Ah, almost forgot. My name's Bakura, what's yours?
no subject
[Man, she's lucky if she knows where anything outside of Egypt is in relation to anything else, much less anything that far East.
She pauses immediately on hearing his name, that...
That is kind of oddly familiar and not in the best of ways. But he doesn't look like that one and he's claiming he's not from Egypt, so it just has to be a coincidence, right? It should be fine, he's been nice enough so far.]
Kisara. A pleasure.

You're in a world filled with Pokémon like Sadiki. They're intelligent creatures who enjoy companionship, travel, and battle, and what you do with that information is up to you. You can become a trainer and take them into battle to win glory in the League, or raise them like pets.
no subject
Is that what these creatures are called, Pokemon? And are they all as intelligent as Sadiki appears to be? [They enjoy battle? Sounds... strange to her, but she's certainly seen odder things in her short lifetime.]
Winning glory doesn't... sound like something I'm too interested in. But you said there's other paths? Can you really just do whatever you want here? [Sounds fake.]
no subject
You could study nature, or work at a farm, or film Staryutube videos. Nobody's stopping you. Well...the Jennies will stop you if you commit crimes, so I don't recommend stealing other people's Pokémon.
[ Someone wants to see what Kaiba's up to! A very large...walking slug-like creature squeezes into the frame, a smiling lavender creature with steely silver eyes and a large silver shell on his back. He slings an arm around Kaiba and cheers, waving at the screen. Kaiba sighs and tolerates this. ]
This is my partner, King. He's a dragon as strong as steel and protects my smaller Pokémon. They all have their own personalities and strengths.
no subject
She quickly hides a laugh behind her hand, as if she'd be the person to willingly commit a crime.] Oh, trust me, I have no intentions on causing trouble unless absolutely necessary! [Which doesn't seem to be much of a threat here, since the only fights she's had to do were with her Pokemon against others. Which now makes way more sense to her.
King causes her to pause for a moment, head tilting a bit as she regards her screen. That's... a dragon? Not any kind of dragon she's familiar with, but this place already seems odd by comparison. She does smile in turn and waves back to the Pokemon.]
Nice to meet him, then! I hadn't thought he'd be a dragon, but this place has already surprised me enough with what seems to be what. Though protecting someone is always a pretty noble trait, so that sounds about right.
no subject
It is noble. I've always admired dragons...he was a little slime ball when we met, but he's surprised me. He's as majestic as my Blue Eyes from home.
no subject
They change shapes? Though, if I may ask, what kind of dragon was your Blue Eyes? [Is it a loaded question? Maybe.]
no subject
[ Kaiba has to lean over and pat his poor offended dragon. He can answer the Blue Eyes question, though. He reaches for his pocket and withdraws a familiar card by touch alone, displaying the art proudly. Maybe she'll recognize it...? ]
She's always been with me.
no subject
Also King, please, you are absolutely precious and it is not a knock against you in the slightest. The card causes her pause and a moment of recognition. That... that is certainly very familiar. Not what this card is around it, but there's not mistaking it. It's not as if she has always had the dragon or anything.]
I... [She trails off for a moment, not entirely sure what to say next. How does she even address this? Everything is so familiar and yet not. This is clearly not someone she actually knows, but she knows about the sealing and how and just...]
How? [That probably makes no sense without context.]

Goldenrod
Hi there. Can I help you with anything?
[She looks like she feels lost, so he wants to help if he can. His cute Pokemon warble helpfully.]
Network/video;
Rather than helping her like he should, Marik would rather sate his own curiosity first.]
You know of ka beasts. How?
no subject
The way anyone else would. Is it truly that strange? [Sorry, Marik.]
no subject
In this day and age? Yes.
[She doesn't look Egyptian but looks alone doesn't cement if she's from there or not. He could try forcing himself to speak his native tongue to see if she understands it.
Eh. He'll just stick to asking questions instead.]
Explain to me "the way" someone would know about such things.
no subject
But she might as well have a little more fun with it just to see if she can get some more pieces to this puzzle. Hopefully a more ancient tongue is familiar to him, since the translator tends to be rather rude.]
It was no secret to us of what the high priests were doing. [Who "us" is, is certainly left open for him to interpret.]
no subject
This is one of those times he wishes he'd cared more about what he was taught back in the tomb but spite and stubbornness clouded his judgement on such things. Marik vaguely remembers the tale of the high priests but not the specific details.
If she's mentioning the high priests though, she was there when it all started. No one outside of the tomb keepers should know any of this.]
... And have you met the high priests yourself?
no subject
Far more than anything else here has been thus far.
The question causes her a moment of pause while humming as she thinks it over. How to even really answer this...]
"Met" is a strong word for most of them, but there is at least one I can say I have met. What do you know of the ka beasts, yourself?
no subject
I know it's one of the parts that makes up our very being and that the priests used them to hone their skills in battle. Outside of that, my knowledge is...
[He clicks his tongue.]
... foggy.
[See: He didn't give a shit as a kid and didn't really pay attention.]
How much of what the Pharaoh did was known to the public?
