[Things had gone terrible right and terribly wrong all at once.

The right thing first -- Gerard was human again. Good. (is it really, does he really deserve it?) Though he lacked any real amenities here on this forest path, he had been able to check out his reflection in the still water of a small pond and had seen he had looked every bit the same before everything had started going wrong (before he had let down Elody)

The wrong thing -- He had no idea where he was. Wherever Snow White's summoned wind had brought him, it certainly wasn't the fabled (infamous) Toy Island. Furthermore, he couldn't see the children. He hadn't been able to find Rosamund, Timothy or Pib either, but they, at least, were adults. The children were just that -- children. They needed minding, even if (or because) their stories had paid little heed to that.

Then there was the strange little creature that followed him, no matter how often Gerard tried to shoo it off; some strange, ghostly little tree sprite that kept diving under his cloak, lifting it up, tenting it behind him, making it billow and stream before darting out from underneath again with strange little giggles.

(For a moment Gerard had considered that perhaps this was Pinocchio. The attitude certainly seemed to fit, even if the form didn't. But regardless of how much he had tried to prompt the little creature, it gave no sign of recognition.)

Gerard's ponderings and fruitless attempts to get rid of his new little shadow were suddenly interrupted by a shout to 'Get that bird'. His head shot up to see a small, feathery orb coming towards him at great speed, followed by an older woman at a slightly slower speed. On sheer instinct, he shot his tongue out towards it, only afterwards realising, when he was already standing there, looking like a fool with his very human tongue extended out, that that was obviously not going to work now.

And then there was nothing much else to realise as the small owl collided with his head.]

.. But that still doesn't tell you if their vanishing was by choice or they were forced out. It does give me an idea though.

If someone did find a way out and they had time to at least leave a message they could have their Pokémon deliver it. [Ok, now that sounds a little mental to him.] If the Pokémon are even capable of that kind of thing.

Anyway, the bottom line is that at this moment we're all stuck here. So what are we supposed to do in the meantime? I know that lady said something about battles or something but I didn't really catch it.

... You know, that's a really good idea. They're absolutely capable of it. Pokemon seem to be almost as smart as people. More than, in some cases. I have a couple who type and run a StaryuTube channel posting videos.

Me, I breed Pokemon. Some people do the battle thing and challenge Pokemon Gyms to earn badges, yeah.

Guess I better not sell these little guys too short, huh?

[That line about the Pokémon being smarter than people, gets a chuckle out of him since he's known more than his fair share of dimwits.]

What the heck is a Staryutube channel?

.. but there's no no overarching goal or anything? Just, raise monsters one way or the other? So... this might seem like a stupid question to you, but I assure you, it's not. When someone sends a monster into battle, do they feel the same pain their creature does?

Oh, definitely not.

StaryuTube is for people and Pokemon to post videos they made. A channel is someone's account.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. People don't feel physical pain, but I hate seeing them in pain. I don't battle unless I have to.

Oh.. yeah. Of course. I knew that. Videos and stuff.

So it's different than capsule monsters. I wondered since these creatures spend most of their time in their own sort of capsules if there were any other similarities. That's good to know.

Capsule Monsters, huh? It's been a while since I've heard about that. It didn't make it as big as Duel Monsters.

That was true even in my time.

[Wait. Does this mean he's buying into the idea that this guy is actually from the future?]

.. but it was weirder than that. Instead of being just a board game it was like it was a real thing, and you were inside the game. Kind of like this place, but without the elevator music.

... That is out there. So was that a slice of life thing like this or did you have to play out the basic plot of the board game?

Neither, but it used the game mechanics of the board game. Er, I guess it's more like the board game came later and based it's rules on the actual place?

You see there were these 5 riddles to solve and it was all a huge headache.

Yeah, that makes more sense, I guess.

Riddles, huh? I might have been pretty good at those.

So, you have magic? [Interesting. Sure, there was no reason to assume she'd be the only one who came here from a magical plane, but not assuming that and having confirmation it wasn't the case were two different things.] Interesting. And plant magic, at that! Like I said, not really my kind of thing, but... I know it can be powerful. Good for you.

[It's not that a man trying to catch a bird with his tongue would've been strange to Eda. You know, if he had the right tongue for it. It's honestly a very demon realm kind of thing to see, and she's had to save Owlbert from more than one peckish demon who was just a smidge too monstrous to understand the importance of palisman... Or too hungry to care.

But in this moment, as it stands, Eda can't even be sure that's what this guy was trying to do. Regardless of intent, it looks very silly. Eda's not laughing too hard, but a few good snorts have her slowing down... And then there's the thud and subsequent shrill hooting of the owl hitting this poor sap in the head.

Honestly, Eda is still snickering a bit as she takes this chance to toss a Pokeball at the little guy. The capture is successful, with the bird already being fairly injured even if not at the hands - or little bat claws, as the case my be - of Eda's other Pokemon. Securing away the Pokeball, Eda then turns to the man.]

Hey, is your head okay? I guess I owe you a thanks, too. If the little thing hadn't beamed you like that, I might not'a been able to catch it.

To be fair, the technology of this world is still new to her though she did used it a while ago when learning about Carmen’s kind and those pesky squirrels and rabbit earred rodents.

“Well she really wants to fight as well, though her size could be an obstacle she has to overcome. Hopefully there is a way for her to evolve into a species that is much stronger,” Isabela admits to him.

“Oh, I had used the Pokédex in my PokéGear a while ago and it does have a speech feature whenever I look up on a Pokémon. I am still new in using the device but it has been pretty handy in learning about the species of this world. My name is Isabela Madrigal. It is very nice to meet you, Tristan.”

Oh gee thank you. I’m very proud of having it at my disposal at home, even though this world seems to like cancelling out magic of other worlds a ton. I had it ever since I was 5 and it has connections to a miracle that has been in the family for generations.

Bud, Dew, Budew, Dew!

Uh oh, there is an evil group wanting to snatch up Pokémon from people? That sounds really terrible and Isabela is starting to worry for her team already when Radley mentions them to her. Carmen looks confused as she turns to her Trainer, “Bud?”

“Oh dear, that sounds very horrible. Stealing Pokémon from their trainers is not a great thing at all. I might have to watch out for them and look after my team around the clock.”

[Fully taking advantage of his opportunity to be the person in the know for once Joey just gives a knowing look, wagging his finger like a disappointed teacher.]

Tristan, Tristan, Tristan. Dis is a game world. Can't ya here da background music? Hermos mighta passed-on or whatevah, but dey made a cahd'a him aftah dat and so it's only logical dat you'd be able ta find a version'a him in dis place. Digital or not doe', he's still a dood instead of a monstah. I'm not gonna keep him in a friggin' Pokeball.

It really doesn't. Go on, you can say it. I can take it. If someone made a game based off of that real location that means they would have had to have had prior knowledge of that place. Considering that it was concealed by a thick forest in the middle of nowhere in India... then I have no idea how they could have managed it.

If I could remember them, I'd test you. Let's see.. there was something about going to the valley of light, breaking an unbreakable rock and using a power that's greater than brute force.... I don't know, it was written in hieroglyphics, I couldn't read it.

... That complicates things. So you have no idea who created it? I didn't look too deeply into it, but I thought that it was probably invented by Pegasus, or at least by his company. Pegasus did a lot of traveling to get the ideas for Duel Monsters, after all.

Hmm. Well, that last one sounds like it could mean something cheesy like the power of love.

"Yeah, you do that. A lot of them are apparently in disguise, so they might try to trick you sometime," Radley says.

It's new to him too, so maybe they can fumble their way through some of it during the course of this conversation. The guy didn't even have a cell phone in his dimension.

"I've had friends like that... kind of small in stature but determined to face whatever is thrown at them." Though he couldn't imagine Yugi, the person he was referencing, evolving into another version of himself, he could always trade places with the pharaoh and let him fight. That was kinda like an evolution. ~~Not at all like one~~.

"Hey, that sounds pretty handy. I wonder if I got one of those." Reaching for his bag, Chimchar moves to sit on the top of his head. "Why you little..." Not to be entirely distracted, he pulls out the first bit of tech he can find in that backpack. "Is it this thing?"

"Nice to meet you too. I hang out with a lotta guys so I don't often get to talk to someone as attractive as you. That's not a pick-up line, just the truth."

( she smiles and nods, taking in the advice being given to her. it's fair that the wall is pretty simple ( "simple" ) to climb but her nerves are still lit up from this being the first time she's ever attempted something like this. )

Right! I'll definitely pay attention because even though I'm harnessed, I really, really don't want to fall.

( she gives a light chuckle. )

( serenity can't help but to laugh at the sheer amount of eevees hanging about the taller man. she walks with him, sticking somewhat close to ensure that she's under the the umbrella with him and the pokemon. )

[Don't think it isn't frustrating on this end, because it is. It wasn't as if Tristan was really an expert on any of the games they'd ever dabbled in so why Joey felt the need to be smug now... was beyond him. It was kind of like it always had been.]

A game world? I mean- I kinda suspected that already what with the monsters and everything. I just don't remember waltzing into some pyramid to get here, or sneaking into Kaiba corp to use one of those virtual reality pods.

How is that logical in anyway, dude? Not every game has to have a tribute made in the guy's honor. Like which card in a standard playing card deck is supposed to be Hermos? Why not? It didn't stop you from keeping your Flame Swordsman in a capsule.

.... Is he any good? Does he ever win...? [Ridiculousness aside, if Joey's monster was winning a fortune in town, then Joey could definitely treat his best pal in the whole world to some all you can eat buffet somewhere]

serenity is aware of the sort of person marik can be so her guard remains up for the time being. she's not sure how much she can "trust" him and since she's fairly new, she's not even sure if he's bringing her in the right direction for violet but she's hopeful. serenity's not even aware that joey being here is about the only reason marik is bothering to help her. thanks for the inadvertent rescue, big brother! )

I guess they want less pollution or something...

( seems like it would be bad for the pokemon. )

Sounds good. I can call Joey...

( hopefully the brother unit would be there as fast as he possibly could be! then she doesn't have to stick around this guy for too, too much longer. )
