Giovanni nods and leads the way, intending to hold the door open for her. To his surprise it opens automatically, and he can't help the small jolt of surprise. He recovers quickly, and steps aside gesturing for her to go in.

"Let's explore then. Ladies first," He says. He'll follow in behind her. It was just as eye catching to him on the inside with all the colorful posters and ads. "It doesn't seem like anything is being sold on this floor. Perhaps we'll find more further up?"

"Holy smokes this is a fancy shop, it has automatic doors." Cali was a bit surprised by this before composing herself (though the temptation to play with the automatic doors was strong).

After getting the go ahead, Cali goes inside first as she checks out the insides with Giovanni, "Thank you, that was very sweet of Giovanni..though yeah I guess the shops is upstairs..though I'm impressed with all the posters on the first floor."

"It's not a problem," He responds. He's looking at one particularly garish poster ad filled with clashing bold colors with fascination, before chuckling, "If I tried to sell my wishflight paper like this back home, I doubt I would have had any customers. Even if I did sell them for...20% off like it says here."

"What an interesting combination though, the designer really took a risk there with the design." Cali went to check the poster out as well, even our Lisa Frank Plague Doctor is surprised by the color combination.

"Oh, what's wishflight paper like? That sounds super awesome!" Cali asked, her mind going onto a new subject as that paper has the coolest name ever.

"A risk is certainly one word for it," Giovanni said.

"Wishflight paper was originally paper in my world made by the Wishing One, our god, in order for us to write our wishes and have them granted," Giovanni explained, "What I sell is a replica given the Wishing One died long ago. It can't grant wishes like the original wishflight paper, but it does act as a sort of conduit for them, if that makes sense," As he explained, he gestured elegantly around, as if that helped his story.

Yep, that gets Cali's full attention and wonder as holy smokes wish granting paper that you write on, "That sounds amazing and really pretty too, it sounds like you made a lot of people happy with them. Back home, we would make little origami stars with scrap paper we found, those were a lot of fun to make."

"Stars? How interesting. Ours were folded into cranes," As much as Giovanni doesn't wish much anymore, he still has great interest in the wish making customs of other cultures. He doesn't comment on whether or not he made people happy. He's sure the wishflight paper itself was fine.

"Cranes sound incredibly awesome though, they had to have been amazing to see." Cali was absolutely enthralled with the concept, it truly did sound amazing to her as she followed Giovanni along to checking out the department store.

"They were, especially when they flew," It was a part of his job that he did enjoy. Seeing people's faces light up as their wish flew around them.

Giovanni leads the way to the second floor, taking the stairs. He stops at a sign on the wall and reads it out loud, "2F Trainer's Market. Your Travel Companion. I suppose this is traveling supplies then? Or Training supplies?"

"I didn't know they could fly, that's insanely cool!" Cali said as she followed Giovanni up to the second floor to be greeted to what could be described as Trainer Heaven, "Woah...I'm not sure, maybe it's both? Just holy smokes, they weren't joking about with the name 'Trainer's Market'."

"Yes, with the power of the Whim imbued in the wishflight paper the cranes can fly," He explained. He turned around to see the store on this floor properly, and walked over to one of the displays. "I'm not sure what some of these items are, if I'm being honest."

Cali was in awe of this as it truly was an amazing thing Giovanni described, actual flying paper cranes. Then Cali's attention returns to the Trainer's Market, "I'm not sure either, but they sure do look neat. I wonder if they have lanterns? They come in handy in a pinch."

"Lanterns are useful when traveling," Giovanni agreed, looking around. "I believe we may have more luck finding them over there." He gestures to a section of the store labeled 'camping'.

"Oh good eye! Let's go see if they have any fun lanterns for traveling with." Cali goes to happily lead Giovanni along to the camping aisle to check out the lanterns.

"Is there any style you like the best? I love the projection ones best, they're always fun to have in the tent for storytelling."

Giovanni follows her lead. "I'm afraid I only know the traditional type of lantern. Perhaps I will try a new type if we can find them. Did you camp often before coming here?"

[calisugarfiend]

"Not exactly, back home, my Moms did indoor camping nights for me growing up. They even made a little tent for me out of blankets to cuddle under too while sharing ghost stories they heard back on the Earth colonies. Those were great times back then, I miss doing them. Did you camp a lot too back where you came from?" Cali explain, feeling nostalgic for the indoor camping nights she had in childhood as they reach the lantern selections.

"That does sound like a good time."

"I did," Giovanni said with a nod, "I travelled a lot between Florawish and Stoneville for work, and there is quite a bit of distance between the two towns."

"They truly were, I'm thinking of doing something similar with my own Pokemon this weekend." Cali went to pull up a lantern that had a pattern on the shell of Minior, Lunatone, and solrock decorating it, "Oh wow, that sounds like an insanely pretty traveling route. What was it like to camp out there?"

"You're planning on telling stories with your Pokemon? I don't know much about Pokemon. Do they enjoy that kind of thing?" He's not entirely sure what Cali would be getting out the experience either to be honest, but he knows better than to ask her directly. He busies himself looking through the lanterns for something he might have an interest in. It was interesting to look at all the different types.

"It was beautiful. All of Wishfield was filled with flowers and life. I mostly traveled alone, so there isn't a whole lot of interesting camping stories to share, unfortunately. However, I can't say the same about travelling in general. Between Esslings appearing on the road, and the occasional sudden downpour, things could always get exciting in a moment."

"I find storytelling as a great way to bound with my Pokemon, we get to hang out in together after building some blanket tents in the hotel room we stay in at night. I like to think they enjoy it a bit, it's pretty calm and relaxing. If you want, would you like to join me for storytelling?" Cali happily said as she picks out that lantern she pulled out earlier as it's a cute space themed one :3

As Giovanni explains the route he would take and camp out in, Cali becomes enthralled with just how magical the outdoors must have been back in his home world. Though, one word caught Cali's attention and she simply had to know, "What are Esslings? They sound super adorable."

"I see," Giovanni replied. While he was curious about what stories she would tell, he wasn't a very social person, so it takes him a moment to reply to the offer. "Sure. Perhaps that would help me bond with my Pokemon better too."

[Giovanni picks out a more functional lantern, but one with a lot fancy swirly flourishes.]

"Esselings are fabric brought to "life" by the Dark," He explained, "They'll attack anyone nearby, and often appear in groups, which makes them a threat to travelers."

"I think it'll be a lot of fun to do, are there any type of stories you like the most?" Cali asked, she was very much used to being with groups and building bonds with others as she checks out the lantern Giovanni picked out.

Cali's expression dropped a bit behind the mask upon hearing what an Esseling was and they had such a deceptively cute name too, "That's not fun at all, I'm sorry you had to deal with those back home. Esselings don't sound like very nice creatures."

"I tend to prefer stories about the past, however, don't feel bound by my preferences. Any type of story would be good, I'm sure."

Giovanni chuckles, "They aren't, no. But they were nothing that I couldn't handle, so it's alright."

"I'm glad they're easy to manage, but goodness, Esselings certainly have a misleadingly adorable name." Cali was still pretty surprised by all of it, but she's happy that Giovanni was able to manage them pretty well.

Cali thinks for a bit over stories as there is a great way to compromise for a story to tell Giovanni for his first storytelling time, "I think I may have a story that works, it was from this old fairytale collection from Italy called The 'Pentamerone.' I think that one story from there was called 'Pintosmalto'?"

"Pintosmalto? It sounds interesting. I can't wait to hear it," Giovanni replied calmly, even though he knows nothing about it. He looked around this floor of the store, "Was there anything else you were interested in getting here?"
