Well, I am sure that they think the same thing about you and I when we get excited about things. [She doubted most people got as excited about fluffy, Cuddle-able pokemon as she did.]
Unsure of what she will become? [ Walter had made sure to research his Pokemon thoroughly, after what had happened with Tim and his Magikarp-now-Gyarados. ]
The process isn't painful to them, the times I've seen it happen to my Pokemon.
I just... like her how she is. [Angel had done her research, tried to figure out what Mari would become. No matter what form she took, the Mareep (or what had once been a Mareep), would always be dear to Angel but... nothing seemed to beat the fluffy creature she was now.]
[ Walter thought that over, and nodded. He didn't know what Mareep evolved into but again, Tim had an unpleasant surprise with his Magikarp. The transformation form weak, feeble fish into sea monster was not something anyone would have guessed. ]
She is very sweet as is. I think Assumption is capable of evolving. He just hasn't, for some reason.
Assumption is just fine the way he is. [Not that she suspected that Walter felt otherwise. He seemed a good man, and Angel trusted that the cubone was in good hands with him. But, on the off-chance that the creature in question was listening, then she wanted him to feel accepted, no matter what.]
[The same, of course, went for Mari. Angel pressed a kiss to the top of her head, just to be sure she understood as well.]
[ Upon hearing his name, look who should appear but Assumption, in a red knitted sweater. He smiled brightly at Angel and Mari, waving to them. Walter reached out and pet his skull, much to the Cubone's delight and smiled at him fondly - a genuine, warm smile breaking out from the usual affable, polite one he wore. ]
He is. [ Assumption was a sweet, friendly, loving little Pokemon and in that way, Walter would never have him change. Walter saw it as his duty to help him move past the death of his mother and get stronger but over the past months of training, that duty had subtly shifted to include 'keep him happy'. ]
[Angel's smile widened, and she returned a wave to the cubone. Mari let out a pleased bleat for her part, while Dora peered curiously at the new friend, having been a little too young to really remember the creature.]
You're a good trainer, I think. Assumption is evidence enough of that. [A struggling Pokemon wouldn't smile like that, she figured.]
[ At being complimented on Assumption's well-being, Walter ducked his head bashfully, unable to fight down the blush that crept up his neck. Assumption however nodded eagerly! Yes, his trainer is Very Good! He tried to make Walter face the screen, calling to him cheerfully. ]
I should hope so! [Angel chuckled to herself. Aside from the twice weekly trainings she went out on, the pokemon didn't exactly do much. They were enjoying peaceful lives, curled up in the inn.]
[Hopefully they didn't mind too much when they got out on the road.]

Maybe. But everyone seems to get excited over some kind of Pokemon. How is Mari?

She's ready to evolve, actually. I just... don't quite want to see her do it.
