Jack was quick to follow, smacking back the advancing Beedrill with his stick, careful to aim the blows so they would lose balance. It just wasn't cutting it, though. It wasn't long before the stick snapped. However, the surrounding vegetation had bottlenecked the swarm. Jack knew he could handle it easier this way.

"To me!" he called to Honedge, the sword Pokemon responding almost instantly. Wrapping it's hand-like sash appendage around Jack's outstretched right arm, he took hold of his partner, and began forcing the swarm back with his swordsmanship skills. While not sharp- he still hadn't gotten the moves Cut or Slash just yet, a heavy Tackle paired with a Master's wielding did the job just as well. Beedrill and Weedle hit the dirt, eyes swirling in faint. The rest of the swarm was faltering as well.

Potya was the first to turn back. She puffs up in indignation then runs over to give a firm swat to the original Weedle, already beaten down by the Honedge. She counted it as her victory anyway.

Yuri was embarrassed he needed help at all but that didnt mean he wasn't going to roll his pokeball to bump into the now defeated Weedle for an easy capture.

The swarm at least seemed to have thought better of a pursuit.

"Potya, you could have done more than just that."

The Glameow hissed at him, swatting at his leg. Really, against a SWARM!?

Jack lets go of Honedge and it takes it's normal pose once more, collecting it's "sheath" from the brush. He turns back to the younger man he just saved.

"Are you all right?"

Potya sniffs at Honedge before patting it with her paw curiously. Shw probably could kick its ass she decided.

"I'm fine. I got a weedle at least.." Yuri turns the ball in his hand. "Thanks.. You're pretty good with a sword.. Honedge..?"

"Ah, well, not quite the sword I am used to, but, a good partner none the less."

He pats the Honedge affectionately. It seems to like it.

"You seem a bit young to be on your own. Are your parents nearby?"

Oh.

Oh hell no.

Yuri bristled immediately, face flushing bright red as his volume raises markedly as well.

"What do you mean YOUNG? I'm fifteen! I travel the world by myself, I don't need my parents with me!!"

YURI WAS AN INDEPENDENT YOUNG MAN, HE DIDN'T NEED PARENTS ARGH HE WON GOLD DAMMIT HE WAS PRACTICALLY AN ADULT, HE REALLY WAS AN ADULT.

Potya glanced at the Honedge and then Jack. Because.. Honestly, her trainer had such a temper, didn't he?

"Fifteen is quite young. I too, traveled the world at a young age, but I was always with a mentor for training."

Jack is not amused. Then again, his best friend is the Scotsman, so he's still pretty patient, despite his annoyed tone.

"I don't need a mentor. I'm perfectly fine on my own!"

Current moment aside of course. He'd done pretty well hadn't he? He'd avoided death by random magical creature rather decently.

Jack had no room to talk if he traveled at 15 too, even with a mentor. That just meant he was less capable! That was how Yuri would justify it in his mind, arms crossing over his chest.

"Maybe I'm just beyond where you were."

Seriously? purred the Glameow. We were just almost eaten by Beedrill.

Man, this kid's got a mouth on him. Jack's brow furrows for a moment, but, he's then reminded of someone else who talked a lot of talk. He settles for unamused.

"I sincerely doubt that, young one."

Yuri didn't seem to care or even notice that Jack was unamused. He just looked determined and fully confident of his own abilities. He knew he was ahead of his peers back home so here shouldn't be any different through hard work.

And maybe.. less chasing baby pokemon to a nest of their final evolution.

"Thanks again I guess. I have to keep going, I need to beef this little Weedle up after taking it to the Pokemon center."

"A word of advice...you should show your elders a little more respect in the future. Not all can be as forgiving."

Yuri gives Jack a weird look then a firm eyeroll. Oh, okay he was one of those people. He wasn't here to deal with that kind of garbage.

"Yeah, sure, whatever. Probably around when they stop assuming I'm just a dumb kid."

He pats his leg for Potya, who takes a moment to rub in appreciation against the Honedge then Jack's legs before trotting after Yuri.

"Dumb, no, irresponsible, yes. You still have much to learn."
