Armin reminds Newt a lot of himself. He's inquisitive and has such a passion for learning plus he genuinely cares about the animals in his care! Newt has a lot of respect for how much Armin is trying to learn and do.

It's also rare for him to find someone that understands his own passion for this sort of thing, who expects it so readily and Newt treasures Armin's friendship because of it. He's not good with putting stuff like that into words, it takes awhile like it did with Jacob back home, but it's definitely obvious in the way that Newt interacts with Armin and readily reaches out to him to share things with him.

Newt wants nothing more than to teach Armin everything he knows and share every single thing he discovers with him because Armin is the type of friend that Newt has always been longing for. (And hasn't had since he was at Hogwarts.) He'd go to bat for Armin in a heartbeat and trusts him more than anyone else he's met thus far.

Sion is a very interesting fellow and Newt has enjoyed chatting with him and meeting him quite a bit! It was as instant a connection as it was with Armin but there's definitely the potential there for a very solid friendship given how interested in knowledge that Sion is. He seems to be a very smart individual and there's something very intriguing about him. Not just because of how long he's been in this place but because of where he's from.

He fully intends on making his way back to the Collegiate gym because he really wants to see what all Sion and Ryner have planned and he'd like to get to know the both of them better. (It's just a matter of him getting over his awkwardness.)

Newt things Diana is the absolute sweetest thing ever because of the pack! Seriously anyone that is willing to allow their companions to just amass a group of that size has to be a good one! He's, as usual, awkward around her and definitely does better chatting with her when the canines are about but she reminds him of Queenie in a way with her general attitude and personality--to some extent. She seems a bit rough and tumble like Tina, too.

He would definitely not be unhappy about crossing paths with her again and would love to visit the pack whenever he got the chance!

YOU, MA'AM, ARE GOING TO DESTROY HIM.

Pamela is..she is something else. Newt really doesn't have the words to describe her. He's definitely attracted to her because let's be real, who wouldn't be? But he's also intrigued by her intelligence and passion for plants and animals alike. She adores all of the Pokemon she has in her party which gives her major bonus points in Newt's book and her passion for breeding and helping the Pokemon re-establish themselves brings her point tally up to almost one hundred easy.

She is definitely far more forward than he's use to and seeing someone in a bathing suit like that is not something Newt has ever experienced before because...time period. But that hasn't done anything to sway him from wanting to interact with her.

(I am seriously so excited for the day these two meet in person you have no idea.)

Haha! Well, I do hope you're prepared Newt because while Ivy likes to wrap up during autumn and winter. Once it brightens up, or even once she's inside a decently heated building, she really doesn't wear much that much more clothing. No need for her suit here so it's back to having a lot of skin exposed as she walks around barefooted.

I know they've only met once, but Jean is very curious about this guy Armin keeps blathering to him about.

While it's probably not obvious because Newt is Newt, he's curious about Jean, too, since he comes from Armin's world. (And what he knows about said world is both fascinating and a bit horrifying to him.)

He's a little unsure about Jean because encouraging that behavior in a Mimikyu is no way to handle it getting upset at Pikachus!! But he also knows that sometimes you just can't help how a creature is. He seems nice enough, though there's something about him that gives off the vibe of some of the more..rough and tumble individuals Newt dealt with in school. (The people he tried to avoid because Newt + people in general is just not always a good mix.)

Still, any friend of Armin is someone he's willing to give the benefit of the doubt to!
