Okay her new pet is getting some headscratches. Because he's clinging and being nice, for a change...Don't bite her fingers.]

[Not a horse at all, but like he said, he'll explain everything once he is there. He'd give her a better explanation right now, but he just really wants to see her face to face. It has simply been too long.
And true to his word, he does arrive to where she is within a few hours. Not on a horse though. He's riding a strange metal bird (aka a skarmory) swooping down from the air and landing in a fairly elegant manner, though he just about trips getting off her back in his haste.
He looks... much like Mikasa might remember from home. His hair has been cut short too, though right now it is a bit on the long side (last month was a Month). He's no taller, but he seems a bit heavier. Not much, just genuinely looking well-fed and content. Though winter is approaching, he's still got a lingering tan and he's dressed in far more modern clothing than she will ever have seen. Still looking like a grandpa, cause that is just his style, but a modern grandpa nonetheless.]
Mikasa?
no subject
It was still really boring though. And even if Mikasa could deal with it, the sneasal could not. Though keeping it from doing too much damage to the trees kept her busy. There's still a few small patches of ice and snow, along with deep scratches where he's clawed his way up the trees. But nothing has been mauled.
She backs up when the bird swoops, then rushes forward when she sees him, sees him stumble.]
...You really do look different. I thought it might have just been the screen.
[As for her, she's taller. Not by as much as some people. At some point her hair had gotten shorter, not even reaching her chin. But other than that she looked the same, only minus a scarf.]
no subject
It's just been... a very long time.]
no subject
What...
[You know what, she's just going to keep hugging and be okay with this.]
no subject
Sorry. This must all be strange to you. I'll explain everything.
[where to begin though? There is so much to say.]
Has anyone explained anything about this world yet to you?
no subject
But she watches him, shrugging slightly at the question.]
Vaguely. Take one cute animal- [The sneasal preens.] Have it fight other animals to get stronger. It sounds simple enough, if that's all there is to it.
[As deadpan as possible, even for her. Because it can't be that simple, right?]
no subject
[There is more to it too; people who breed pokemon, and contests, and people who just keep them as a pet. But that is not really the main focus here. That is something to discuss later.
He searches for a good start, then decides that nothing is going to be perfect, and any start will do.]
Well, I'm sure that by now you know that people get pulled into this world unexpectedly with no control over when they go back, right?
no subject
Yes. I've been told that. When I asked how to get back. It didn't matter how urgent I said it was, they couldn't help.
no subject
[He looks at her, his face earnest.]
In fact, I know you've just seen me back home, but from my perspective, I've been here for years now. Three to be exact.
no subject
But, how could you be here for years when we were together right until I woke up here?
[The appearance changes could make sense. The time couldn't. But then he says three years, and she's even more confused.]
...What year is it Armin?
no subject
[Trust him, trying to understand all this timeline and time travel nonsense has given him more than one headache. ]
When you arrive in this world, time in your own world sort of... stops. Nothing moves. And when you leave this world, you return back to the same moment you left, but you forget everything about this world. So you would go on as if nothing ever happened to you.
The years here don't exactly align with the ones back home. But... the last thing I remember from our world is facing off against the Female Titan during our expedition outside of the Wall. The one where we tried to capture her but failed.
no subject
That was a long time ago... [It wasn't an exaggeration. So much had happened since. Just the next day, and another two months after that...]
How do you know you forget? Are you saying that it doesn't matter how much I tell you now?
[She couldn't warn him. If he'd forget then it wouldn't make a difference.]
no subject
[And sure, he has his own little hypothesis that it might be possible to remember something. After all, how else could people come from other worlds where they already know about this one? Doesn't that imply that someone was able to remember something once? Still, that's a rather out-there theory of his, and not something she needs to hear right now.]
Though I wouldn't say it doesn't matter how much you tell me. I might not be able to remember it if I ever go back to our own world, but it'd still help me understand more about what you guys went through. Though Jean has already told me a lot. Unless you are even further ahead than he is, that is.
no subject
She couldn't say it wasn't possible. Even if that didn't answer why.]
Jeans here to? What did he say?
no subject
[And he was here for more than two years before that, but that is something that could be told later. It is not like the current Jean remembered any of that period anyway.]
He's been telling me about everything you guys have gone through. About Reiner and Bertolt. Historia ascending to the throne. What happened in Shiganshina [Though he left out that Armin's life had been chosen over Erwin's.] Discovering about Marley.
I always knew there was more to the Titans and the Walls than we knew but... I don't think anyone could've expected all the things he told me about.
no subject
The only people who knew, were the ones trying to hide it. [And now everyone knows. They weren't going to repeat that.]
Did he tell you about what happened in Marley? About Liberio?
no subject
[He hadn't been told about the raid on Liberio yet, mainly because Jean himself hasn't experienced it yet. In fact, Jean had mostly stayed away from the whole 'Eren turns his back on us' topic.]
no subject
[And Mikasa is going to pointedly not mention the part where Eren had forced their hand.]
no subject
[Armin's eyes go wide, surprise catching in his voice.]
Jean didn't say anything about that? What happened?
no subject
[She just sounded resigned, letting out a soft sigh.]
They were holding a festival.
no subject
Reaching out, he lightly touches the outside of her wrist.]
Please, I'd like to know it all.
[And then later he can figure out if this is something Jean kept from him, or something Jean just plain doesn't know about and needs to be informed over.]
no subject
There isn't much else to say.
[Because it might be Armin. But it's not her Armin, not the one who she helped clean up after he shot a woman. He doesn't need to know that much.]
no subject
I know you just want to protect me, but please don't lie.
[His voice is soft, understanding. There is no rebuke, just sympathy.]
You are hurting, and I want to understand why. Please don't worry about keeping me in the dark and innocent. Jean already ruined that.
Spoilers for post timeskip - this probably should have been earlier
...
[It's a waste of time not looking at him when he could do that. Not that her height let her hide much, he just had to look up really. But she still doesn't turn.]
In the building that got...Knocked down. There were children.
[It's slow and she doesn't want to say it. Even if the Armin she knew had seen worse, had done worse.]
