b. violet city (inn)
c. wildcard
b. gives you a chiller, aware-of-the-truth-(kinda) lewis bc i feel bad--
Just what are you still doing up?
[ Admittedly, Lewis is pretty awake too, but Arthur looked dead on his feet from the beginning. ... Being yelled at and accused of murder when you were merely the weapon- not that that's any better- likely didn't help, of course. There's anger there, still- maybe it will always be there. Maybe it won't. But he knows it's- it's misplaced. So all Lewis can do is try to make up for it.
Lewis isn't as gentle as he used to be though. He's not entirely sure he still has it in him, or if he feels like he's allowed to be still. He stands, arms crossed at the display before him, before glancing over at the device. ]
... Having fun, there?

[He definitely startles a little, fumbling a piece and having to scramble for it before it rolls off the table. Some of that's just the sleep deprivation. Some of it's just normal Arthur.
A lot it isn't either of those things.
But they're - they're good. They're fine! It's gotta be a lot worse for Lewis. Arthur hasn't been walking around the whole time knowing...all of that, he just got all of it figured out like a week ago.]
I just, uh, I was just curious, I guess. No clue why I thought I could make sense of this. It's just a freaking...TARDIS thing in there. [Pokeballs are pretty sci-fi, even for Builds A Robot Arm Man]
no subject
Sorry. I didn't mean to startle you. I just- you look exhausted.
[ Still, far be it from him to interrupt the more harmless tinkering. ... He's assuming it's harmless. If deconstructing one of the most common devices possible was dangerous, he's sure there'd be more warnings. Or it couldn't be done with some simple tools anyone could get ahold of. ]
... Yeah? I overheard at the Pokemon Center that these are also connected to a computer network.
no subject
Oh, yeah? [He squints down at some Pokeball innards.] That must be what this little guy is.
[.......but, uh. That's probably not really why Lewis is here.]
You can go to bed, man, it's fine. I'm just gonna be a little bit. [lies]
all of my icons are so ANGY rip
[ He sighs. There's... there's so much he wants to make up for. It doesn't feel right, staying with Arthur, but leaving feels even worse.
And then Arthur urges him to go on without him. Like he always would, before- before everything. But now that's even worse too. And Lewis frowns with concern, looking almost like his old self again. ]
You're an awful liar. At least try to rest, staying up and doing things won't do you any good.
no subject
[And then maybe do some other stuff? It's not always really a deliberate plan with him - it's just easy to let yourself get caught up in things. But this isn't a real project, just a distraction, so he will start picking up the pieces.]
You know I usually stay up late, it's whatever.
no subject
[ Wait. Crap. Bad terminology. Frick. Immediately he winces, looking away. ]
Sorry. I'll lay off.
no subject
No! No, it's, uh, it's fine. [Or, at least, he doesn't want Lewis to apologize to him.] I, um, I'll just -
[He is not getting this thing back together tonight, no way, there's so many tiny screws...he'll just sweep them up and put them all in the round casing of the ball. Or try to, anyway, he's sort of scattered some parts in his haste.]
a. hi again :'D
[ And there is a short young woman letting a milcery trail behind her as if a creature made of cream is normal. Admittedly, she didn't mean to eavesdrop, but with how different this world is, she wants to learn anything and everything... and it seems that other travelers' worlds are just as different. ]
:D
[Arthur is a mechanic and should probably be able to explain this a lot better. But he's also clearly surprised to be addressed at all, and just generally...a little bit jumpy, maybe. He also looks like he maybe hasn't slept recently?
He gestures wordlessly for a moment, with his metal hand. Just give him a second to line his thoughts up.]
It's a machine, you can get in and drive it around. Goes up to like, 100 miles per hour? Unless it's a fancy one, but, uh, those are expensive. I've never even worked on one, those guys probably have, like...special mechanics.
Re: :D
I'm not sure I get it, to be honest. Though it sounds like you're describing a... complicated carriage?
no subject
[It's just now hitting him that, because he had to explain what a car was, other people are maybe coming here from other times-slash-universes???]
It's my job to repair them, so. I'm kinda screwed in a few ways if they don't exist here!
no subject
[ nerrrrrrrrrrrd. ]
That is rather unfortunate... But I do understand. I am a mage in my home realm, but I find myself without my magic. But as a scholar, I'm still left with new knowledge to seek at the very least.
no subject
[Sudden realization that he's nerding out! Oh no!]
Not that that, uh, helps now. [.....] Wait, you do magic?
no subject
[ She's smiling, don't worry! The nerding out is appreciated! ]
Yes, and it is quite common where I am from. Healing magic is born from faith in the Goddess, and elemental and other magic follows reason and intellect. I admit, I am not one for healing, however.
no subject
[He says, trying to sound chill about it, because even though Arthur is typically Not That Chill about magic...she was nice about him nerding out over cars, he owes her that.]
Cool! That's, uh, that's too bad you can't do it now. I didn't...I mean, I guess I didn't know this universe had different rules, or whatever.
[That tracks to him, at least? Alternate universe stuff. Very sci-fi.]

[Don't mind the abrupt interruption or the tanned pirate looking guy with a handlebar mustache and jodhpurs sliding into the seat across from him and dropping a Lotad rather unceremoniously onto the table. There's a rakish grin under the mustache as Argo eyes up his latest mark.]
So what're ya doing with it, boyo?
no subject
[Arthur responds intelligently, gaping at the guy for a second. Which only happens after he initially jumped like three feet in the air at the sudden interruption. Luckily, his Dedenne is rather more sedate than her trainer, or at least better at recognizing what's a real threat.]
Just. Curious, I guess? [who is this guy why is he talking to him what's with the mustache]
no subject
Probably not for Argo to lean forward with apparently earnest interest.] Well, what's it do, then? I've never seen something like it before, 'cept maybe a potion bottle or something!
no subject
W-well, it's, uh...I mean, some of it's pretty simple. Like, this is the mechanism that makes it pop open if you press the button. Or, uh, throw it. At a Pokemon...apparently.
[He guesses???? He presses the button to show, though - the ball is kinda disassembled, but a piece of it still moves when he does.]
And then there's, uh. A magic pocket dimension thing or something? I think this - [Indicating a different bit.] - is the part that talks to the PC, but I dunno about any of the rest of it.
no subject
[He leans forward and grins, and stage-whispers behind his hand like he's trying to keep it on the downlow.]
But hey, if this thing can talk to computers, you think it'd mind us asking them how to get us home? [And he leans back to continue cheerfully.] Not that this place isn't great and all, but I've had my fill of this whole 'being human' thing!
no subject
[He gets that reference! Not...too comfortable with this, still, but he at least restrains himself from visibly leaning back as the guy leans forward. Which...might not last, because:]
Wh. What do - what do you mean, "being human thing"?
no subject
[He leans back and plants a hand on his chest in a grandiose manner.] And water genasi like yours truly!
no subject
[please hold while arthur has a flashback to like, the entirety of lord of the rings and all its inspired properties]
...noooooo??? I mean, there's uh. There's...ghosts, and things. But those are like, mostly former humans, I think?
