Jarlaxle Baenre | Legend of Drizzt | OTA
[At first, the screen only shows the ground and a pair of booted feet. A male voice seems to be muttering to itself.]
Hmm... what a curious device... out of Lantan, perhaps...?
[The viewpoint of the camera suddenly rotates dizzyingly to show... well. A middle-aged man, very dark-skinned and yellow-eyed, bald as an egg, wearing an eyepatch, what looks like a pirate hat, and copious amounts of leather.]
Ah! It works. This is for transmitting messages, is it not? If any of my men are here in this strange plane, I request you report in as soon as possible. I should hope that despite this most odd... alteration I've undergone, you would still know me.
As for any others who might be viewing this... my name is Drizzt Do'Urden and I am a stranger to this realm and to this plane. Though I am a dark elf--or I was a dark elf--I mean you no harm and only wish to travel in this realm unmolested.
[JARLAXLE WHY DO YOU ALWAYS FUCKING DO THIS.]
New Bark Town
Jarlaxle stares at the door of the cottage whose door he has just been so unceremoniously pushed out of.
"You are not my mother," he says under his breath, although he is more bemused by the last fifteen minutes than frightened just yet. Oh, he's sure the fear will set in eventually, but as of yet? Not quite.
He looks down into the orb that he had been gifted, small enough to fit in the palm of his hand, partitioned red and white. There was a button in the middle. Jarlale pressed it.
A shimmer of light and--
A purple-skinned imp, eyes made of jewel, stood before the mercenary, a mischievous expression on its--his?--face.
Jarlaxle let out a bark of laughter. "Oh ho! I'm to have a companion, am I? Well met, my jewel-eyed friend. Let us see if you've any compatriots in the rest of these spheres."
The small imp did not. But as Jarlaxle soon determined, there was nothing stopping him from catching more. And so he did.

[OOC: hit me up with whatever you'd like. this wily old rogue loves to cause trouble.]
network..........
But claiming a different name or not, there's absolutely no chance that Kimmuriel would ever forget the voice of the most irritating drow in the entirety of Faerun. ]
Re: network..........
But truly, I am gladdened to see that I am not alone here. Where might you be located? I will proceed there directly. I have the most curious little creature to show you.
no subject
Where? Not far from you, I would think.
[ His own companion is, despite having all the freedom in the world for being apparently a sea-dwelling creature that can roam on land unimpeded, seems to want him to keep picking it up. He has no idea why this is.
He has it tucked in the crook of an arm as he uses his own device to transmit images of his location. He's pretty much just outside the starting town.
The Inkay burbles happily and squirms in his arms. Why is he even holding it...why does it get upset when he's not...it can just float on its own... ]
no subject
[A purple, jewel-eyed imp seems to have climbed up Jarlaxle's body in the meantime. It grins toothily at the camera.]
Ah! My new little friend wishes to say hello.

Video;
Also, Fabian is not a dark elf. Half-dark elf.
That said, if this guy is a dark elf, he might be from their world as well, and Riz is certainly curious about that. If nothing else, it'd be good to find people to bitch with about how weird this world is.
So, Jarlaxle will be contacted by a dapper-looking boy(?) who, as always, looks like he's at the tail-end of a long period without sleep.]
Can't say I've ever heard of someone by that name, but have you ever heard of Solace maybe? Or Leviathan?
[If this guy is a pirate and from Riz's world, he must know Leviathan.]
Re: Video;
Leviathan... that was a great sea behemoth, a black-skinned whale, who prowled the waters near the Moonshaes, yes? Defeated something like a century and a half ago?
Solace... there used to be tower by that name in Neverwinter, I think?
Video;
Uh, maybe? I was thinking of a different Leviathan and Solace, but I guess we are not from the same plane after all. I think someone like you would've heard of Leviathan if you were from where I am from.
Re: Video;
[It is, actually, totally true, for what it's worth. Straight from the Forgotten Realms wiki.]
Ah, well, I suppose it makes little sense that all of us would necessarily be stolen away from the same plane.
Still, it is a pleasure to make new acquaintances, especially in such a curious realm as this. Were you similarly translated from another form or are you a natural born human?

Adventurer!!
Welcome to Johto!
[The first word of that second sentence is in a woman's voice, and the rest a man's, both surprisingly good imitations for a small girl. All of it comes out more smoothly than the very first word did. Speaking with her own voice is still very hard.]
no subject
Ah, I see. You were a kenku, my dear, were you not?
[The costume wings, the imitative greeting... it makes all the sense in the world.]
no subject
A kenku my dear, a kenku my dear!
[Someone who knows! So few people do.]
no subject
Indeed, you are! From Faerun or another plane?
[What a charming little girl! He's pleased to have been given the chance to meet her.]

New Bark Town/Route 29
Ilphyl had unceremoniously been shoved out the door not that long before, and after getting some distance from the uncanny house (because seriously, what was that?), they were stopping to assess the situation and determine that, yes they are human (the first clue was outside being bright, but not 'ow, I'm blind until I get my goggles on') and that they were down a lot of magical abilities, and up one mushroom creature.
Hearing someone else on the trail did cause Ilphyl to scramble off, and utterly fail to wildshape into a bird. Instead, they mostly managed to be trying not to in a bush when they turned to face the new arrival.
Meanwhile, Jarlaxle would see a short human-seeming adolescent with dark skin and long white hair, with a similar bag to his own, and their own strange creature.
"The trail is pretty narrow here."
Re: New Bark Town/Route 29
(Jarlaxle's own pate is shaved bald, of course, but his eyebrows are as white as any drow's.)
"Are you a newcomer as well?" he asks after a moment.
Re: New Bark Town/Route 29
Deeply weird. Or at least a lot of magic with very little actual brainpower behind it, since it suggested a certain commonality about families that, in Ilphyl's experience, didn't exist except in the minds of people with happy and functional families. Of course, since both the magic and Ilphyl themself wanted to be away, it worked out.
Having it not just attract adolescents was even more interesting. Unless there was an alternate scenario for adults.

Re: Video
[Ordinarily Radley would find such an explanation laughable at best, but he's discovered that people have been coming from other planets too. This isn't as hard for him to grasp as the fact that he's here himself.]
I don't know if you've heard of it. It looks a lot like here, but Earth has different animals.

Network
Obviously, he's not green or tusky when his face shows up on the network. But he's still a large man with a strong jaw and just the slightest underbite, so I guess some things never change. His matcha green skin has been replaced with a sort of tan hue, and he's got a lil smidge of eyeliner under his grayish eyes. ]
I'm not entirely sure if there's anyone else from the Understate here, uh, if that's even your world.
Re: Network

[ He's always a shy big ol green bean like this, don't mind him. There's a creature next to him that begins staring into the screen as well, or at least it appears to be a creature? It looks like a shitty little sand castle. ]
It's just really jarring here, there's all these humans and then suddenly I'm not myself and...well, you understand.

Because I dunno about you, but that's definitely not my mom.
Re: Network

...yanno, it's just a little too creepy how she knows all our underwear sizes, but I digress.
You ever hear the name -
[ she's not stupid enough to mention Kilani to another drow, now that she thinks about it, so she stops herself mid-sentence, hesitates for a moment, and then comes across another name in her memory that will probably also be useful. ]
...you ever met Astaros Azora? Shifty-looking, foxy-ass magic-missile-casting asshole?
[ Your call as to whether "foxy-ass" is figurative or literal. ]
