network..........
But claiming a different name or not, there's absolutely no chance that Kimmuriel would ever forget the voice of the most irritating drow in the entirety of Faerun. ]
Re: network..........
But truly, I am gladdened to see that I am not alone here. Where might you be located? I will proceed there directly. I have the most curious little creature to show you.
no subject
Where? Not far from you, I would think.
[ His own companion is, despite having all the freedom in the world for being apparently a sea-dwelling creature that can roam on land unimpeded, seems to want him to keep picking it up. He has no idea why this is.
He has it tucked in the crook of an arm as he uses his own device to transmit images of his location. He's pretty much just outside the starting town.
The Inkay burbles happily and squirms in his arms. Why is he even holding it...why does it get upset when he's not...it can just float on its own... ]

[A purple, jewel-eyed imp seems to have climbed up Jarlaxle's body in the meantime. It grins toothily at the camera.]
Ah! My new little friend wishes to say hello.
no subject
The look on its face is much too similar to yours. [ Can you hear his disapproval, Jarlaxle? He hopes you can.
Kimmuriel is easy to spot on the road out of town, even with his changed appearance. Light hair and dark skin is still a tell, even if that skintone is a human's and not a drow's, now.
Also, the frown and the fact that he's holding something squidlike in his arms is probably a large hint, too. ]
no subject
[And yes, indeed, Kimmuriel is quite easy to spot. He closes the communications channel on the device he was given and strides forward to meet his friend and second.]
Ah, there you are, abbil. I see that you've also been much altered by the translation between planes. I do think we may be human.
no subject
Human and without any magic. The first would have sufficed as punishment enough.
[ It is tremendously irritating that his new companion seems to have more in the way of mind-altering powers than he does, though they don't seem inclined to use them right now. ]
You look happy enough. [ Jarlaxle is always obnoxiously cheerful but it grates especially here. ]
no subject
Only in that I see no reason to be overly sad. I still have my life, do I not? As do you.
And more than that, I have you as a companion in this plane—and the imp. I wonder if I might train him to help me in my endeavors. He seems quite intelligent.
no subject
[ Unflappable as always...but that's always been the way Jarlaxle approaches problems, so everything is as it should be, he supposes. Even like this.
Though he supposes it could be much worse. Despite the changes, it's not an overly hostile plane. ]
And what endeavors would these be? Capturing more of these creatures, as we were asked to do?
no subject
[Yes, he has already named the imp after the drow word for 'gem.']
no subject
[ Kimmuriel's own partner, a squidlike creature much cuter than an illithid, seems content without a name as long as they get to be Held. Kimmuriel, despite his protests to this entire thing, is still holding them... ]
If it digs up some kind of Creshinibon I will throw its capsule into a river.
no subject
And yes, I did. It seemed like a fitting name. I saw some green spiders frolicking in the tall grass when you showed me your location through the communications device. I intend to catch one of those too.
[His grin stretches across his entire face.]
An orbb in an orb. A delightful prospect, don't you think?
no subject
And here I thought you had left behind your terrible jokes with that dwarven friend of yours. I should know better than to hope.
no subject
[He can almost hear his dwarven friend's laughter at his masterful pun.]
What of you? Will Kimmuriel be gathering further companions beyond his miniature squid?
no subject
Training these creatures to battle by command should prove an interesting enough diversion. [ Battling by proxies is nothing new, but doing it without mental domination is another thing entirely.
He doesn't have the love of trinkets that Jarlaxle does, but if he needs a partner to fight against or beside, Kimmuriel is content to step into that role. ]

This one [ he gestures at his Inkay, still content to sit in the crook of his arm, ] is numbered six hundred and eighty six. It seems this plane is full of them, which I am sure delights you no end.
no subject
Or, well. A large number at least.
no subject
[ A bag of holding, perhaps, but he has a suspicion that if travel to this plane can take away innate powers, then magic items won't be capable of doing much. ]
