Ilex Forest:
What was that...?!

[With only Volbeat's glowing tail providing light in this portion of the woods, Boober is not having a good time. His hopes of getting through this eerie forest quickly are gone, and now he's just trying to find a spot where the moonlight shines through enough for him to set up camp.

Archie's tail only glows so bright, so the question of what Boober heard nearby goes unanswered for now. As close as he comes to being frozen in fear, he keeps moving - cautiously - through the woods. Is an Impidimp following the trail of Boober's negative emotions, looking for a chance to make things worse? Or is this a luckier break, and the sound is just another trainer-- One who maybe hasn't forgotten that they own a flashlight?]

Network (Video)/Olivine City:
[A teenage boy with a shaky smile is posting - for the first time! - from Olivine City. It has been a long month and change of adjustments and frights for Boober, but he's getting used to being here. The fact that he's found some of Johto's best food offerings doesn't hurt.]

I've made it to Olivine, and... Well, I need some advice from people who eat meat. Seafood, specifically. See, guys, I've always been a vegetarian. We don't eat meat back home; I'm not even sure my normal body can. But I figure-- While I'm stuck like this, maybe I could try some different food.

But I'm not sure what's tastiest, much less the best way to start introducing meat into my diet. I realize this is a pretty specific problem, but I can't be the first one to have it. Maybe. Right? I mean, we're all here under pretty weird circumstances...

Also, for those who had previous CR with Boober in VR: This is a different canon for the character, and he's visibly younger than before. That said, your character is of course free to recognize his appearance and tell him about the older/other him! That's all, glad to be making my way back <3)

Ilex forest!!

[instrumentally]

[Rei both lives near the forest and does, occasionally, forget to use a flashlight. Why bother, when she has pokemon to help guide her way? Her Dedenne, Mouse, cuts a tiny path through the grass, occasionally letting off a spark or two.

But then she spots another trainer in the woods -- not an uncommon occurrence -- and blinks into the light the Volbeat makes.]

Are you lost?

[soupguy]

[Boober gasps, startled, as he turns to source of the voice-- And her Pokemon companion. More light sources, that's definitely a good thing. Looking back to Rei, he nods.]

Y-Yeah. Kind of. I was going to set up camp, but I wanted to find a place where I could see better. Except now it's gotten even darker...

[instrumentally]

There is a clearing not far from here. I can show you the way.

[She waits for his response. Still and quiet. Hands clasped in front of her.]

[soupguy]

Yes! Yes, thank you, that would be wonderful. [He rubs the back of his neck, giving a shy smile.] I don't know how you're so calm in a spooky place like this, but I appreciate the help.

[instrumentally]

I am familiar with this forest. That is all.

[She and Mouse help lead Boober to the clearing -- she was right, it isn't particularly far, though difficult to find now that it is getting dark.]

[ It's just a trainer this time. There's another teen here, with a flashlight in hand pointed low to the ground. A large yellow and blue moth flutters along beside him, sniffing around for honey as usual. The human tenses a little as he comes across him. ]

...hey. What are you looking for?

[ Not a battle, he hopes. It's been far too long a day of wandering. ]

[soupguy]

Oh. [While the tone takes Boober a little by surprise, he does appreciate getting right to the point. And more light-- He really appreciates that.] I'm just trying to find a better spot to set up camp. Are you looking for something?

[blue_ice]

...the same thing.

[ Kaiba relaxes visibly. The moth beside him flutters, sparkles trailing off from his wings as he moves restlessly. Honey please! ]

I was hoping you didn't want a battle. We've been fighting all day, and we're not getting any closer to the exit. They really should mark the trails in here.

[soupguy]

[With a snort, Boober nods.]

You'd think they would. It just seems like a basic safety matter. But you don't have to worry about battling, we don't do a lot of that.

[He gestures to Archie, who turns away huffily at the statement. Someone seems less than thrilled not to fight, as if he doesn't realize he's just a little Volbeat.]

Maybe we can help each other and find a spot? I'm Boober, and this is Archie.

[blue_ice]

...I could do that. We'll stand a better chance.

[ Mothra chimes happily. Seems he's found some honey---so it'll be a moment while he slurps that up. ]

I'm Seto Kaiba, and this is Mothra. He tends to stay up all night if I let him, but I unfortunately need to sleep.

Network

[Boober went through all that effort to put a nice post together for the network and Riz is just going to completely disregard it. In fact, he honestly hasn't heard a thing of what Boober said -- just enough to notice the familiar voice and way of speaking.

And of course, the picture isn't quite right. He doesn't look the same. He looks younger -- like if Boober had a younger brother. Which, for all Riz knows, he does. He doesn't remember Boober talking much about his family.

Riz's face is a mixture of emotions, too many to pin it down to a single thing -- there is confusion and irritation (not with Boober, just with this world and all its antics), there's waning joy (It's Boober!) and rising disappointment (oh, no, it isn't.), there is way too much he is feeling all at once and he doesn't like it.]

... Bo-- Boober?

[soupguy]

[Boober stammers a little, as he mentally goes over what he'd just said. His name hadn't been part of that, had it? That wasn't the best way to be sociable, but that mistake isn't his main concern right now.]

Yeah, that's my name. Boober Fraggle. [He leans in closer to the 'Gear, trying to find something familiar in the other's face. But he just doesn't recognize this person.] How did you know that...?

[nightyorb]

[Allow Riz to counter that with a question of his own -- even if he knows the answer already.]

You don't... you don't recognise me?

[Honestly, he isn't even sure why he is asking! It's clear Boober doesn't. It's a stupid thing to ask.]

[soupguy]

No, I don't.

[Oh this is so awkward for Boober and he doesn't even truly realize what's happening.]

I spent the last few weeks here pretty stressed, I'm sorry.

It's not your fault.

[Cause it isn't. If it is anyone's fault, it's the fault of this world.]

Did you... did you remember this place at all?

[Was it just Riz he had forgotten or everything here?]

(Thankfully, the noises actually come from a Trainer and his Dartrix just taking a (mostly) quiet walk in the forest. After the time traveling adventure in Hisui, Harry is hoping to find some peace and quiet in Jotho before he can take on the Gym Battles and, luckily for him, Lily has evolved into a Dartrix during their Hisui adventure.

As he tries to navigate a dark forest with a torch (a British term for flashlight), he turns around to Boober in the forest too. Lily gets slightly spooked out for a moment with her feathers getting ruffled up.)

Oh my! I’m so sorry if I have frightened you all the sudden: I thought that there was a wild Drifloom passing by in this area. Lily here is worried about running into them at night.

Dar-trix, dar! Trix!

[soupguy]

[Boober rears back a little in surprise, and his Volbeat sees this as possible reason to attack, rushing to get between the Dartrix and his trainer. Boober, on the other hand, smiles.]

Archie, no, it's okay. [Archie backs off, and Boober crouches down to pat him on the head as he addresses the other trainer and his partner.] I can understand being worried about running into something creepy. Especially at night in a place like this.

(Harry still remembers the reminder he has given about being careful with traveling at night when he first arrived in Hisui and he still keeps that in mind even after returning to the present day.)

Yeah, it does get a bit scary at times. You never know what could be lurking in the dark. Lily does have a tendency to worry a lot when it comes to going around places at night since she had to deal with some rough Pokémon some time ago.

[soupguy]

[Boober's attention whips back from being on Archie as Harry speaks, and he shudders.]

She-She did? What happened?

[phoenixwiz]

She definitely did. One time while I was on patrol duty at a base camp last month, we encountered a terrifying Luxary at night and she did her best to protect me and my other Pokémon. I was scared for her as she has to face multiple electric attacks coming for her.

While the encounter was happening and despite being smaller initially, she did evolved into a Dartrix and she was able to stop the Luxary before things went downhill. But she hasn’t shaken the experience from her mind for a while now.

[Radley is stunned and confused to see someone who looks like Boober, yet younger. Another one, taken from a different point in his timeline? Or is he from another dimension altogether? Radley has been learning so much of other dimensions and the like. He doubts this Boober will know him, given his younger appearance, so he's not sure whether to greet him familiarly or not. That would probably scare him if he's like the other Boober....]

Hi there. I always enjoyed meat back home, but here, I'm not sure what to think of it. I'm guessing the only meat comes from Pokemon, and that feels kind of icky-squicky, all things considered! The only thing I know about the seafood here is that Magikarp isn't tasty.

Hmm, is it really that unpleasant, though? I mean... I don't know a lot about meat, like I said, but it's got to come from some kind of creature in your world, right?

[crystalmaster]

Yeah, you're right. I've kind of been wondering if I'll want to eat meat if I ever go back to my first home. The meat back home is really tasty, usually. I liked tuna and salmon a lot, for seafood. I don't know if there's anything here that's equivalent to those. We had a festival recently and there was a dish that's made with octopus back home, so that surprised me. I don't know if it was an octopus Pokemon or if they have regular octopus here too.

That's an interesting question, actually. The octopus thing... I don't know what an octopus is, because creatures where I'm from are very different from what most people here seem to be used to. And there's no Pokemon that look like them! But I have seen another creature, once, that looks like some of the Pokemon here.

So I'm not sure how much Pokemon are like creatures from our homes, but it's weird that at least some seem to be.
