Route 29

[crystalmaster]

[Radley is heading back to Cherrygrove after a check-in trip to look for newcomers. Seeing one, he smiles at her but doesn't go over too close, not wanting to look threatening.]

Hi. First day?

[Evie the Eevee warbles at his side.]

[brokenuniverse]

[For just a split second, Kotone is visibly hyper alert. She relaxes her expression and gives a friendly smile once she sees the respectable distance the man is keeping from her.]

Ahaha! Yeah, guess it's obvious, huh?

[crystalmaster]

Yeah, people camping on this road are usually newcomers. I come here when I can to check on them. It's a pretty shocking experience, being pulled into another world.

[Some of his Pokemon chirp greetings.]

Well, that's pretty nice of you to do! I'd say I'm pretty used to shocking experiences, but ending up in another world is definitely a new one even for me.

[She gives a little wave to his Pokemon, her as-of-yet unnamed Tepig getting to his feet to sniff the air before giving a cheerful cry in return.]

[crystalmaster]

Same here. I kinda thought I'd seen it all, and ... yeaaah, not even close.

[Evie the Eevee especially wants to play! She dances around happily and bounds into the grass.

Radley chuckles at the Pokemon's cuteness.]

At least it's a pretty peaceful world, for the most part. There's some wacky stuff that happens, but it's usually only for a day or two. I've managed to avoid some of it by hiding when it happens. I like to help the others when I can, though.

[Tepig runs off after Evie, making happy little noises and Kotone can't help giggling a bit.]

It seems pretty peaceful! Everyone in New Bark was really helpful in showing me where to get started. It's actually kind of refreshing!

[She has no idea how long she'll be here, but she wants to see the good in it and enjoy this new journey.]

[Isla the Eevee also wants to play and runs off too!]

I think by now, the natural residents of this world are pretty used to the displaced people arriving. It's good they're so nice about it. A lot of places might not be.

Yeah... You might be right about that. [She's certainly seen enough apathetic people who would probably just be irritated once the novelty of meeting people from another world had worn off.]

Well, I'm glad it's not like that here! I'm used to making adjustments, but it still helps when people are nice about it.

If ya don't mind me asking, how long have you been here?

[crystalmaster]

It sure does.

I've been here several months. I got here in February. Some people are around for years, some only for a few months. No one can figure out any rhyme or reason to it!

[brokenuniverse]

Huh. That's... ["weird" goes unsaid.]

I was thinking this place might be the afterlife or something, but I guess maybe not. [There isn't really much use dwelling on it.]

Oh, right! This is a bit late, but introductions! My name is Kotone Shiomi. And yours?

I'm pretty sure it's not, especially since most people end up going home eventually.

[He smiles.]

I'm happy to help! I can give you my contact info in case you need anything. I live in Goldenrod, but I can use some of the warp pads in the Pokemon Centers as long as they're places I've been before. They make travel easy, as long as I don't use too many too fast.

[Ooh, they have teleport pads here? Noted!]

I mean, I don't wanna put you out or anything. I'll probably only call you if I wanna chat, but if you're fine with that, then... Yeah!

Sure, I'm usually always available for a chat!

["Eevee!" said Evan.

Meanwhile, a shy Ralts peeked out from around Radley's leg.]

Cool! Lemme just...

[She rummages in the pack strapped to her hip for a moment before pulling out her PokeGear, taking a moment to smile and wave with one finger at the little Ralts.]

I haven't fooled around with all the functions yet, but it can be a phone, right?

[crystalmaster]

[The Ralts gives a shy little smile, but keeps hugging Radley's leg.]

Yeah, it sure can! It does video calls.

[brokenuniverse]

Ohh, so it's pretty advanced! Definitely gonna have to fool around with it more when I get the time.

[She smiles as she looks from the Ralts to the Pokemon who had run off to play.]

All the things I've run into so far are really cute. Are there bigger ones out there?

[crystalmaster]

Yeah, I'm still not sure I've seen everything it can do!

[He chuckles.]

There sure are. Some are so big, they can't go in the house.

[He shows a picture of Onix.]

[Her eyes widen a little when she looks at the picture.]

Oh wow! Okay, so there's a lot of variety then. That's cool.

Yeah, no kidding! Some of the Types are really confusing. There's some that seem to be made out of food!

[brokenuniverse]

U-um, just asking... Do people eat some of these? [The potential implications of having a little pig are hitting.]

[crystalmaster]

[Radley cringes.]

I ... honestly don't know. There's meat here, and it's a mystery what's in it. I don't eat it myself because the thought of eating Pokemon just kinda ... doesn't sit well with me. I might not wanna eat meat anymore when I go home, either.

[brokenuniverse]

I'll, uh... Be careful about what I eat here then.

[She watches over her Tepig a little longer before smiling.]

Yeah, I can't help but see them as companion type animals.

[crystalmaster]

Good idea.

[He smiles too at the cute games the Pokemon are playing.]

Me too. I don't like battling them. I hate seeing them get hurt, even if it's not like it'd be back home. I'm a breeder and I try not to get into battles unless I have to.
