I'm afraid I don't know how to make these using other materials. Besides, making them this way is a bit of a tradition from home, although, I'll admit I'm not entirely doing it properly.

[He looks down at the crane he just made, inspecting the creases on it. He wishes he could make it fly.]

Back home we used to fold our wishes into the cranes, and then burn them. However, right now, I'm mainly folding them because its familiar and relaxing.

[Viktor nods, that does make sense. Sentimental reasons, too. He gets it.]

[Burn them, huh? Despite himself, he recalls the Dean's words. But-]

If, instead of burning it, one shared cranes with one's friends, would that be, hmm, so against the tradition?

And can they fly?

Sharing them?

Hmm...back home, while discussing wishes with each other is fine, the act of making them into cranes and burning them is about letting them go and lessening the burden. Why? Are you interesting in sharing your wish with someone?

Not these ones, but the ones made of Wishflight Paper could.

[Giovanni isn't sure what's going on, and he's more than a little concerned. He's grateful that he has experience with being a salesman, and can put on a polite mask regardless of the situation. Though his tone may seem a bit forced.]

Alright, then I'll show you how.

[He pulls out another piece of paper, and starts slowly going through the motions of folding the crane, explaining each step along the way. Even though he went slower this time, the crane he made turned out a little rougher, probably because he was keeping a wary eye on the other.]

Yes, its always nice to add your own spark to things, and picking out the type of paper you want is one way to do it.

Well, at least it doesn't seem to stop you, does it? It sounds like you can do a lot if you have your brain and your hands.

You just might be right. I suppose I could even draw something on a crane - though I suppose I'd best leave the whole art thing to my partner, who seems to possess the natural talent. Or not natural - his mother once showed me what he drew at ten years old. A crude magical hammer self-insert wizard. Yes, his talent being not-natural should be remembered, I suppose. I always diminish it by thinking otherwise.

Hm. Maybe the moral is: I, too, can learn how to draw, if such progress can be made?

[Viktor asks Giovanni with a friendly smile, goodnaturedly with only a hint of suppressed natural irony of everything that Vik may have just been born with, as a trencher]

And here I thought I was learning. I suppose that'd be too easy, [muttered by Viktor under breath], "the wings are still ever so uneven, the poor thing could only be seen with pity. I'll try again."

[turns to Giovanni sometime between remakings][and with a smile] Yes, my brain is one thing that needs no improvements, and I'm taking good care of it. I would not say it's perfect, as nobody likes a braggart. [there's a hint of a smile there, of humour][but only if one really, really looks][if one doesn't, the tone might as well be dead pan serious][~~[this is how trencher scientists fish for kindred spirits , what. well maybe not quite]~~

Personally, I think its possible to make that progress yourself. If you put in the effort, that is. If you'd like to learn to draw, then perhaps when you get the paper to fold into cranes, you may consider adding art supplies to your shopping list.

You are learning. That one is better than your first try. It takes practice to make them well. As you keep trying, you'll improve further.

[Giovanni can't help the soft chuckle as he gets the joke.]

I see...I hadn't thought of a path like that. You must truly care for their well being then.

May I ask what Pokemon you have?
