dedue || fe3h || for $8000 a month, i will stop
[Some of these Routes are very long, indeed. They can get especially miserable in rough terrain, bad weather, or any sort of obstacle that might expend more energy than a seven-day walk over decent ground. It's hungry business, and there's certainly no delivery out here.
That's why it may be rather surprising for the scent of sautéed spices, vegetables, and fish to be wafting around the wilderness. If anyone should follow their nose, though, they may find a man seated at a campfire, large and stony faced, but not so imposing from the ground. He looks up from offering a plate to the local resident Pokemon and makes eye contact, though it is no challenge.]
You look weary. You should rest and eat; come, I've made plenty.

B Video. the femblems are taking over!!
[It's evening by the time Dedue has read through his manual and worked out how to start the PokéGear. He may not have entirely bothered, but if there's any chance this "video" actually has the long-reaching broadcast it boasts, it may save far more time than simply searching under every rock in this new land.
His face is stern as usual when the camera starts up, almost unfriendly looking, though his tone is surprisingly... soft, if firm. The tiny Budew peeking its face around his shoulder isn't doing him any favors in appearing tough, though. Their juxtaposition is almost comical.]
I am looking for King Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd. We were separated. I will be indebted to anyone with information on his whereabouts.
[Straight to the point, at least!]
-
C. do, like, whatever you want tbh
B
[Chip is equally blunt, though they are peering VERY SUSPICIOUS at the strange man in the gear asking about their King Dad.]
Who're you?
no subject
[Either this is not a normal child, or being displayed on this tiny machine makes Dedue far less intimidating than usual. Oh, well. He appreciates their directness.]
I am Dedue, his vassal. It is my duty to defend him.
no subject
[Helpful!]
...
[Chip considers this for a few moments, then seems to decide something.]
Hang on. [They set the Gear down, leaving it on because they kind of don't care, and hollering in the background as they wander off.]
CLAUDE!! FELIX!!
[In the meantime, have a curious Pikachu looking into the camera!]

Dedue! You're here too? Dimitri will be estatic, I'm sure-- he's with Claude, alongside Felix and Sylvain. I'm on my way to meet them now.
[ Without reservation, Lysithea seats herself beside him, unshouldering her travel pack. ]
It's nice to see someone in person rather than on that strange device. How long have you been here?
no subject
I arrived a short time ago. Though perhaps it would be best if you went on ahead of me.
no subject
[ Now that... was an unexpected suggestion. Lysithea frowns in confusion. ]
Why would it be 'best'? Would it not be safer to go together?

Why are you looking for him?

So that I may find and protect him. I owe him my life.

Oh... huh! Alright, I can talk to him about meeting up with you somewhere... uh, who should I tell him is asking?

SLAMS INTO THAT B OPTION
[But hold on, he's in the shower, so he's just going to-]
[And then Gremlin takes a whole Pokegear into his mouth, so enjoy just. The visual of the inside of a rat's mouth.]
cw animal death m ?
Budew begins wiggling and chirping furiously, which is nearly as shocking as watching a rat eat a solid brick.
Honestly, he feels obligated to keep watching, to see if he can find any evidence of the owner in order to tell them how their pet choked and died...]
no subject
[Jostling. Rat's on the move! And only for maybe a minute or so before there's light again, and tile, and nicely painted walls. Gremlin starts chittering immediately, underneath a familiar voice that speaks up.]
Gremlin, what have I told you about putting the Gear in your mouth... No matter how excited you are. Is the- camera on? I hope you didn't capture anything untoward...
[There's a bit of ruffling - Dimitri is trying to get mostly dressed before he picks up the Gear - and then the blond's face shifts into view as he looks into the screen with an expression of exasperated concern.]
[An expression that immediately warps into shock, and Dimitri almost drops the Gear.]

B, with a side of Holding Dimitri Down Until He Learns Flying At Least A Little
[In all his dealings with Dimitri as fellow house leaders, Dedue was always a background presence, and while Claude never exactly got the chance to socialize with him much, he'd always done his best to be as friendly to Dedue as circumstances permitted. He'd known the man had it rough as someone from Duscur, especially with the prevailing opinions of his people in Faerghus - a prevailing opinion that Claude considers just as ridiculous as Sylvain, for many of the same reasons. (Sylvain isn't the only man smart enough to work those things out.) And, to some degree, he'd felt a kinship with the man. They're both from countries the people of Fodlan feel some pretty significant hostility towards, after all...although Almyrans have certainly earned it more, in ways beyond reasonable doubt.
They've never actually had the chance to talk about any of that stuff, of course, for any number of reasons. But just Claude's knowing it is enough.]
Listen, things have been a little hectic over here since you called. Mostly because we're practically having to chain Dimitri to some bedposts to keep him from running off to go fetch you. As someone who's actually done some flying, I'd rather not let him figure out how to do that...well, on the fly! So he's not going anywhere until I give him at least one basic lesson. I figure you're with me on that being a good idea, yeah? Maybe you can help me convince him to have some patience.
thank you for your service claude
Still, there's no reason to be anything but cordial. Surely he will learn the place Claude has carved out here with time.]
I should hope no harm comes to him, by your hands or his own.
I shall discuss it with him. I will be in Cherrygrove shortly, so there should be no need for His Highness to endanger himself.

A)
I know the smell is good, but you can't just go running to it without telling me! I was worried about you, not to mention you probably messed up this nice person's camp site. Sorry my Piplup got excited when...Dedue!?
[Ashe's grip loosened on Piplup which gave him a chance to go over to the food to get a better smell of the delicious food while Ashe stared at the man in front of the fire.] I'm...I'm so happy to see you again.
no subject
A particularly small Budew leaps up to greet Piplup, offering to share the food already on its plate. It's a growing Pokemon, but... its portion is still quite generous.]
It is good to see you, Ashe. Are you looking to meet with His Highness?
(no subject)
(no subject)
A, but also why would you stop
[Well, isn't this a pleasant surprise. Marianne may not know him well, but she does, in fact, recognize the man in front of her. The Galarian Ponyta at her side looks to Marianne, then to the campfire, to Dedue, and then back to Marianne, nudging her leg a little with its head.]
... Dedue, right?
[Honestly, the fact that she's seeing a familiar face is... both somehow reassuring and also not at all. But for the time being, she'll take the reassurance. Someone she recognizes out in the wilderness of this unfamiliar world... it's pleasant.
She approaches, with her Psychic-type companion letting out a cry of delight.]
inb4 these two are an endless "no YOU should avoid ME" back and forth
It would be amusing, if Dedue found amusement in such a thing, that her companion seems so... eager, comparatively.]
Yes. You are welcome to join me, but it may be best if it is only temporary.
B.
Haven't seen your king guy. What's he look like?

He is tall. Fair haired. Missing his right eye, and wears black and blue armor and cloak.

ah yes my people
Please, it is no trouble at all. I would rather the food not go to waste.
[His exceptionally small Budew scrambles on top of the log he's seated at to try to get a glimpse of Cyndaquil, perhaps not knowing that it's a Fire type, or simply unaware of what's good for her. At least she's clever enough not to approach or surprise it.]
