[Gregory nods, looking ahead at the route that's beyond Newbark. He's not sure how far it goes on for, and being on foot means they're going to have a pretty long trek ahead of them depending on how far that is...but with Freddy here, he finds that he doesn't mind that prospect as much. Anything is better than going back to that house he woke up in, or even worse, finding themselves back at the Pizzaplex.]

Oh, if we do run into somebody else...maybe let's not tell them you're not really a person? I'm kinda worried they might try to take you away from me...

[Willow can't help but pity this boy, she'd wanted nothing more to leave when she first came to this world, but is overjoyed to have come back and never wishes to leave again if she can help it.

So the boy will find a woman with tanned skin, fiery red hair, and golden-yellow eyes smiling back at him with a Swablu perched on her shoulder as she's sitting on a sandy beach.]

You don't, no one knows how to leave. Those creatures are called Pokémon, and they enjoy participating in battles to train and get stronger.

[Oh god, it's happening. He's being crushed to death-

...except, no, that's not at all what's going on. He's being held tightly for sure, but it's more of a hug than a deliberately crushing hold. He's no more receptive to it of course, but it's better than like...dying, he's pretty sure.]

Mmmph-!

[Chica might not have full command of all of her new human appendages yet, but that doesn't mean she isn't still stronger than Gregory is physically. He's still a child no matter how you slice it, so lifting him up in her arms shouldn't be a problem. It...might be more of an issue with the way he's still struggling, eventually turning his head so he can actually speak (and breathe).]

H-hang on!

[Cause yeah, that change of heart IS sudden. He cranes his neck to look at her, and it strikes Gregory suddenly to realize that the last time he'd seen Chica...her face wasn't exactly whole like it is right now. In fact, most of it was missing thanks to his actions, so it's dawning on him that if anything the last thing Chica should want to do right now is help the child who hurt her so badly.

But Gregory isn't heartless. He didn't enjoy what he did to her, but he's also not about to remind her of it if somehow she's forgotten.]

Why...why should I trust you? You're just gonna take me to Vanessa, or Vanny, or whoever!

[she may not be able to take in the sights thanks to a certain kid, and her general senses may be dulled thanks to this weak fleshy body, but Roxy's reflexes remain somewhat strong and she's able to grab the falling not!animatronic by the scruff of his jacket.

the female Houndour at her side has been basically acting as her guide, and said Houndour slips in front of Freddy to help him keep balance.

has Roxy thanked her Pokemon companion for the help?

hah hah of course not.]

Easy there, big guy. [it's said with her usual condescending, brusk tone. she's no idea if she's happy to have heard him or not, honestly, considering what went down at the Pizzaplex.

Roxy's standing at around 6 feet herself, looking much differently from her (gorgeous) wolfish self. in lieu of her beautiful purple fur, she's a nicely tanned female human with an athlete's body, black markings on her face and--

well...her eyes are white and scarred over like some major damage has been done to them. yet her makeup, somehow, remains impeccable as usual.]

You seriously haven't learned how to sleep yet? It's so easy, human babies do it all the time.

[Iwaizumi had just been minding his own business. He'd stubbornly bullied his way through this far and now... now he was at a loss.

He stood with arms folded and a frown upon his face, something he'd been wearing a lot since arriving in this weird place. He knew noone. Everyone was weird. The place was weird. He had a weird bug friend who lived in a ball and was bigger than she had any right to be... BUT... as weird as it was it was slowly growing on him. Like a toe fungus. Or something.

And speaking of toe fungus...]

The hell...?

[The weight of a whole ass person was suddenly on his back. If that hadn't told him who it was, the name yelled into his ear sure did. So of course, knowing who it was, instinct kicked in.

Iwaizumi grabbed one of the arms of the person hanging onto his back and with a shift of his weight and a tug, he pulled Oikawa over his shoulder and tossed him forward and to the ground.]

Dumbass! What're you trying to pull jumping on me like that?

[No hello. No where have you been, how are you or other pleasantries. Just throwing his team captain over his shoulder like it was a normal Tuesday afternoon and Oikawa had pissed him off again.]

[Riiight... The woman from before had mentioned something about Pokémon, so now he had more context. That was fine. Context he could work with. Battles though?]

You're saying I've gotta go and fight those things?

[Tooru should have expected to get met with violence, he was convinced that some days Iwaizumi just woke up and chose violence when it came to him specifically, but truth be told that's just one part of their friendship and he knows he's not going to be seriously hurt even as he finds himself flung over like it was just another normal day at practice while being a thorn in his vice-captain's side.

And of course, per the usual, Tooru just glares and huffs like a child as if he'd done nothing wrong in practically attacking the other boy.]

Well hello to you too, jerk. Just beat me up the minute I say hello, ugh rude. Rude Iwa-chan, you're rude and a brute! It's not like I haven't seen you in months, not at all, noooo.

[And right on cue of Tooru pitching a fit, the Luxray smacks him with the tip of his tail, causing Tooru to whine.]

And so are you, you take after my Iwa-chan too.

[The walk to the town was a good thing, just watching Chica brighten with every new thing helped to lift his hear, and the push back the dark lingering thoughts. Being in companionable quiet with a band mate again was just as important.

It was when they arrived and Chica announced the trouble that he had to shake his head at his friend.]

Be careful Chica, I do not believe humans can eat from such places. I, at least, do not wish to learn just how human we are in that way.

[He had been caring for Gregory before awaking here, so much of the information on health and caring for humans was still close in his mind, and digestive illness seemed... horribly messy.]

Maybe I can do something to earn some money... somehow...

What kind of dumbass jumps on someone's back, Dumbass?

[Wait, he's used 'dumbass' three times now. He needed something else. Though maybe he could make it a record and cuss him out just using 'dumbass' in a variety of ways? Iwaizumi was just about to launch into doing just that when a pokemon he'd never seen before showed up and hit Oikawa.

There was a moment where he near barked at the thing. Who gave it permission to hit Oikawa? But before he could the dumbass opened his mouth again. Iwaizumi raised a brow, he didn't look impressed.]

Your 'Iwa-chan'? In your dreams. [And his nightmares.] Now get up. You're making the ground look dirty.

[Scorbunny squeaks in friendly response, moving to allow Freddy to be in the image too, after a small huff. The Pokemon was unaware of the soft, fond expression the man gave him, as he drew him close.]

I am sorry, I did not mean to turn this to such melancholy.

Might I ask what your home is like? I am enjoying learning about other places.

[There's a nod, scratching under the blue bird's beak as it preens her hair. At least she'd been around before to be able to explain these things.]

You would be correct, yes. I presume you were given red and white balls, like all of us who arrive are given? Those balls, PokéBalls, are used to capture wild Pokémon so we can train them too. Your partner does the fighting, you do the catching by throwing those balls at the wild ones.

It is quite large. We will have to work hard not to be separated, I don't know that I could reach you quickly here.

[He was still determined to keep Gregory safe, and was certain that he would search for the boy endlessly if they got separated.]

That sounds like a good place to go.

Yes, it is very nice not to have to recharge so frequently... I may need your help to learn how to take care of myself as a human though. I do not know anything that did not apply to the Pizzaplex.

[That voice... It was familiar...

Slowly he looked to the person who caught him and once it clicked, he couldn't help the beatific smile that he sported.]

Roxy... It's you.

[He did not share her hesitance at seeing the other, though his smile paled a little at the sight of her eyes.]

You are better at this being human thing than I am.

[Would it be smart to point out he'd pushed himself, in part, trying to find Gregory? The lack of clear answers he'd gotten from the boy made him think he was better off not. Besides, Gregory might still be scared of his friends and that could go badly.]

Well I GUESS it's me, if you really had to ask that. Did being rude make you lose some of the smarts you had left?

[If there was a record of how many times Iwaizumi could insult him in one sitting, Tooru'd lost count because it just wasn't worth the effort to keep that up.

But before he can make another smart remark, her gets a tail to the back of his head again and stops. He'd become convinced that Iwaizumi had teleported to this world with him in the form of a Shinx with how similar the two were, but that appears not the case, only being too similar. Even in name.]

I had to specify, okay?

[He jabs his thumb back into the leg of the blue and black cat, who gives a non-threatening warning glare at Tooru.]

You two have the same name. Now help me up since you threw me down.

[Haga feels the urge to say something along the lines of 'of course I can and I don't need anyone's help!' but he finds it hard to be so abrasive towards someone who sounds so sincere in their words and compliments. Maybe he can be nice this once...]

T-thanks...

I'm Haga, hm, nice to meet you. [He thinks about shaking hands with the guy but realizes both his hands are occupied at the moment, so he just offers a small bow.]

So, assuming you also came from somewhere else like me... Is that make-up of yours like a regular thing back in your, like, world? [He would be lying if he said it isn't a lil' distracting.]

[Having lived in Azelea for more than a year now, and being a business owner meant that Kazuki knew the locals pretty well. It was a small town, and there were only a couple of places for anyone to be. So when someone new was around, it was pretty easy to spot them.]

[So when he had come around to the local landmark for his weekly offering to what he considered to be the town deities, Naoto was a curious sight. The way that the Slowpoke were happily loafing around him meant that he had to have been there awhile.]

Heeeeey there! You okay?

[The positive response from the young man brightened Freddy even further, seeming to enjoy just the good interaction.

He awkwardly bowed in response, not a common action for him.]

Make-up? [He raised a hand that has what could have been very intimidating, long purple claw-like nails, to rub lightly at the area around his eyes.] Oh, my markings! They are normal for me, and the other members in the band, but I guess they could seem a bit strange. Not everyone has them on.

I actually am a bit different that I was before.

What is your home like?

Well, regardless. Please know that you have a friend. Well- two now counting Little Guy.

I'm still working out how these little gadgets function, but please- do not hesitate to reach out.

[when she hears him respond, she yanks him for good measure (to make sure he's not going to fall over a second time) before releasing him and crossing her arms at her chest. she's 'looking' at him, having decent hearing and a sense of direction when someone's speaking directly to her but...

yeah, her eyes.]

[she can tell Freddy's looking at her and she turns her head pointedly away, sweeping that green lock of hair behind her ear. at least she's got her long gorgeous hair back. she might not have her eyes or her tail but...it's something. and she runs her fingers through that silver mane of hair of hers for good measure.

as though needing to physically feel herself and remind herself that she's beautiful. the best one in the band. she bets Freddy looks like an absolute mess compared to her.]

Of course I'm better at it than you. [said with a scoff] Even if someone like me doesn't need beauty sleep to look this good.

You sound like a wreck.

( Staring blankly into the camera is a thin, colorfully-dressed woman. Her short, white hair is askew and her cheerful demeanor is nowhere in sight. )

So this is what the end is like.

If I'm here, in this body, it means Gregory finally won.

( Piplup, clearly not liking whatever trance its owner is in, gives Chica a few pushes. If that doesn't work, Piplup isn't above a good ol' fashioned drill beak to snap Chica back to the real world.

Chica, in turn, scoops Piplup and sends it in her lap. )

Don't worry, Piplup. We'll find Gregory.

And when we do, we'll take back what's ours.

( Contrasting her first, rather disturbing network, the one that follows a few days later couldn't be more opposite. Chica is lying on her stomach facing her Piplup, arms folded under her head, while her Piplup mirrors her, lying on it's belly as well. They both seem to be in some kind of stare-down, though the corners of Chica's mouth waver in what looks like a smile. )

( It eventually dissolves into them both sounding like this, going back and forth before Chica turns to the camera, a playfully exasperated look on her face, while Piplup does the same. )

New Bark Town

( Chica's never been on a boat before. Up until now, she's never even been outside before. The boat, for some reason, some particularly exciting to her. She can't wait to explore the open ocean, feel the wind through her hair, taste the salt in the air—

Wait, this place costs money? But the only money Chica knows of comes in the form of Pizza Passes and Daycare Slips! )

Excuse me! I don't have any money, but I can play the guitar! ( Which she also doesn't have... Yeah, no, the dock-workers aren't accepting that one. It's pay the fee or find some other way out of town. )

[while he takes his sweet time trying to come up with an excuse, Roxy is tapping one long, well-manicured nail against the Gear impatiently. she knows whatever he says is going to be nothing but bull.

[me time consisting of recharging, staring at herself in the mirror, brushing her hair, keeping her body in working order, more staring at herself, talking to herself...

you know, a good use of her time!]

Maybe your fancy life outside needs some parents so you'd have someone else to annoy after work.

[Her help is appreciated, and even though he staggers a little, he's able to regain his footing, and stand on his own again.

Seeing her turn her head away from him would hurt, if it wasn't such a thing for her to do.]

[He sounds like a wreck... those words remind him of looking at Gregory through new eyes. Roxy Raceway... He didn't like how his stomach flipped in discomfort.]

Yeah, I don't feel on top of my game either. I... I didn't know what to do with myself out on the route.

[It wasn't a complete lie, even if a large part of it had been being worried about Gregory.]

( Chica hears him. She does. But she's already three scoops deep, mouth full of whatever this diner has decided to toss away. Some of it is edible, but there's also things like expired PokéPellets, the unusable ends of lettuce and tomatoes, and paper receipts, all of which hang from her mouth. )

Whuh—?

( What's she supposed to do? Spit this out? No, she chews and swallows before wiping her mouth with the back of her arm. )

Freddy! Freddy, you can sing! People love to hear your voice!

Alois! Oh my- I can't believe it! Are you well? You seem to be... were you given a Pokemon companion as well?
